How refreshing to look at the TV/Entertainment section of my local newspaper on Saturday and see a blurb (with picture!) about how James Best will be getting the Harvey Award from the Jimmy Stewart museum. Unfortunately no pic with the Yahoo link, but.... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060811/ap_en_tv/people_james_best Congrats Jimmie!

I remember it like it was yesterday...hmm...maybe it was yesterday... nevermind...just kidding. I am now living in Hawaii, but I was a resident of Chuluota, Florida for about 6 months. During that time, I met a lot of wonderful people. One day my Landlady dragged me to the Taste of Oviedo fair. Not having much money, I was kinda reluctant to go, but she told me it would be fun. I agreed and accompanied her up past the food booths and back down. I had $15.00 in my wallet, but told her I only had $5. So we separated and agreed to meet in half an hour near the entrance. It was a hot summer day in Florida and I wandered around for a bit and I came across a large selecti…

  9. Is James Best and David Hasselhoff related by some chance because they kind of look alike or maybe it just me? They both have that dark hair, and I have seen movies and tv shows where is show James Best pre-Dukes era. Well , certainly before 1979 and when he was in "Ma and Pa Kettle at the Fair" he gives a great one-liner to the lady that is talking to him after church. Before I bought that movie I had never seen James Best being a Smart aleck in anything else much before that. But James Best when he was young was very good looking and he had that smile , and probaly our grandmothers went to see his movies when he was younger. Oh, I like his role in Hooper and that Hat i…

I just have bought a dollar copy of "Bad Man of Deadwood" and at first I didn't see James in the movie. But he is Newspaper publisher and he has a mustache, he is quite handsome in the movie don't forget he was a great deal younger than when he started on Dukes.

  13. Held not in a movie theatre, but in a restaurant/bar that features live music on a regular basis, far as we can tell. The event is $100 a ticket, with proceeds going to charity. While the venue is an unexpected choice, it does claim to have three 16' screens. If you go, you'll be seated at tables and looking at the nearest screen. The real draw is the chance to breathe the same air as John Schneider and James Best, who are reportedly attending. Here's the link to tickets. https://www.xorbia.com/e/foundation/returnofthekillershrews No word yet on how the movie is being distributed, but if the world premiere can't get into an actual movie theatre, I dunno if you can exp…

  15. My Tribute to James Best(Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane) Rosco:"Flash we'll wait fer those Duke Boys to race thru the pearly gates, and then daddy will cuff 'em and stuff 'em! I love it I love it Velvet Ears!"

  16. Started by RogerDuke,

I was watching the local news tonight and a guy just opened up a restaurant in Harborcreek (near Erie Pa) called Rosco's. He said it was his nickname in the military. When they were interviewing him, he was standing by a shirt hanging on the wall. It was a shirt to re-elect Rosco as Hazzard Country Sheriff. (Yes, they spelled it "country". ) It didn't have Rosco's picture on it. It was a bulldog. That made me wonder if he was a Marine since they occasionally used a bulldog as a mascot. It was really cool to see a Dukes reference on the local news. I don't think I've seen that since the show was on the air.

  17. Started by RogerDuke,

I just got an interesting call from my son-in-law. He was at his doctor's (up here in Erie Pennsylvania) and they started talking about various subjects. His doctor told him that his best friend just bought a vacation home in South Carolina. He then asked my son-in-law if he was familiar with Rosco P Coltrane from the Dukes of Hazzard. When my son-in-law said yes and that his father-in-law is a Dukes superfan, the doctor explained that the home was owned by James Best. Hmmm, I wonder if Rosco left any of his paintings on the walls or in the attic.
