  1. I rather enjoyed his performance not to mention I enjoy British people in general. I remember him from The '76 movie version of Romeo and Juliet, he played Paris. May you rest in peace and God Bless your family, Simon.
  2. HossC, I'm going to have to write that one down. It has molasses in it, so I can guarantee I'll like it! A while back I said if I ever found the Bloomin' Onion Recipe that is served at our Black Gold Festival I would post it. I found it on the food network website and will post the recipe here: Ingredients Oil, for deep frying 1 large sweet onion 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon paprika 1 tablespoon seafood and meat seasoning (recommended: Old Bay seasoning) 1 tablespoon kosher salt 1 tablespoon white pepper 1/2 cup milk 1 egg, slightly beaten Mild ranch dressing or spicy barbecue dressing, for serving Directions Heat oil in a heavy saucepan or Dutch oven with tall sides to 350 degrees F. The oil should only come halfway up the sides of the pan, but should completely immerse the whole onion. Peel the skin off the onion, leaving the root end intact. Cut a small slice off the top. Starting at the top of the onion make a cut down 1 side toward the root, stopping 1/2-inch from the bottom. Make additional cuts at 1/8-inch intervals until there are cuts across the entire top of the onion. Rotate the onion so the cuts are horizontal to you. Continue to cut at 1/8-inch intervals, forming a checkerboard pattern across the entire top of the onion. To help the onion "bloom," gently spread the "petals." Combine the dry ingredients in a shallow bowl or pan. Dust the onion with the flour mixture. Combine milk and beaten egg in a small, deep bowl. Dip the dusted onion into the egg mixture and then back into the flour mixture. When the oil has reached 350 degrees F, carefully submerge the onion in the oil and fry for 10 minutes, turning as needed, until a golden color. Remove and drain the excess oil. Serve with a variety of sauces, such as a mild ranch dressing or a spicy barbecue sauce.
  3. Thanks Roger and Hoss! You may not be able to tell them you're fan of the month any longer, but at least we all know you were one of the lucky ones to be rewarded with it!
  4. Yup. I'm replying to it now, Rog. :)

  5. I cracked up when I watched it. I was just glad it wasn't the Metallicar or else I would've cried. Oh Castiel, you and your disrespect for modern day transportation.
  6. Was browsing around in under the John Schneider section and stumbled back upon the old thread of "Which Bo Duke is Better". Being a Luke fan, I decided to do a Luke poll. My opinion varies. While I'll always be more partial to the original... I do like the Johnny Knoxville version. I've been a fan of Knoxville's since 2000. I'll admit, he wasn't dead on Luke's character, but the movie did have it's moments, be them few and far (if at all) in between. This movie was made for the newer generations, not the older. And I think a lot of people tend to forget that little keypoint. I like to think on the positive side though (and believe me, that's rare) when it comes to this movie. At least it opened up to the newer generation, who probably hasn't even heard of the Dukes of Hazzard, a sort of...curiosity, I guess. It at least let them know that there was a hit and well loved t.v show about the Dukes. I know a few people who hadn't seen the series, but saw the movie. When they did their research and found the show, they fell in love with it. So that's a positive aspect isn't it? But, I digress as I normally tend to do, and have no doubt, opened up a whole new can o' worms. *sigh* Anyways, to get back on topic, Who was your favorite Luke?
  7. waikiki23, I do believe it was the Alamo.
  8. I'm the middle man, er woman, I suppose. Being from the south, when I watch it, I don't exactly feel it's an oldies considering I see what they do (speed traps, corrupt politics, moonshine runs, etc.) every day. The only thing I don't see is the '69 chargers and Furies and what have you on the road, like Meadow. that being said, I also get this feeling of nostalgia that washes over me when I watch anything from back then. The music, t.v shows, anything that my mom grew up watching or listening to, is what she raised me up on. But of course, I guess we all take a few days sometimes to look back and see just exactly HOW much we've grown and gotten older.
  9. Bahaha! You do NOT know how much Garrett just boosted up Lori's ego...:D And here she thought he had forgotten how to smile. :p

  10. Hey, Elly May. I'm hangin' in there. How bout yourself?

  11. Bwahaha! Garrett can be delighted in his gloomy, sour, grouchy sort of way. :p haha! But we all love him just the same. He provides amusing entertainment.

  12. You're very welcome darlin'! :D Atleast you thought and even may attempt to change your writing, not many do. We need a lot more people to care about what they write. :)

Hahaha! I'd expect nothing less from your fickle opinion! :p

Check ya inbox...I'm pretty sure Garrett's gonna find his surprise! Haha!

  13. Hehe, well she may just end up and surprise him one of these days ;) Not too often she gets a reason to stroll back into Hazzard.

:) I'm glad my advice helped. I know it's difficult to work with POVs so you're not alone. I'm the opposite though, I find it difficult to write in the first person and usually only write those for a solo, but that's for things like HP, LoTR, Naruto....If I'm using Lori though, I'm like you, I find it easier to write in the Third person. Just stick to what you feel is right and what makes YOU happy.

  14. 1. Lord of the Rings Trilogy, they're making the Hobbit movie as we speak too! 2. Harry Potter series 3. Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Titanic 5. Top Gun/Gone With the Wind there's more, like any horse movie out there, or fantasy type movie like Lord of the Rings, but these are my most favorite.
  15. It's cases like that though, is why I stick to strictly Third POV. Which POV do you feel more comfortable with?

Hehe, well she may just make a visit to see her pal ;) She misses Garrett as well, as do I! :D It's been so long since I've heard from him directly, heh. Hahaha! That's the greatest thing about having a muse like him though, it's always interesting. Lori and I don't differ too much at all, though we don't usually see eye to eye on some things.

Yes that definitely sounds like him LOL poor Kristy. But even if he did kick her to the side, he'd just get grouchy because you're using him and not her. It's a danged if you do and danged if you don't situation with him...he gets jealous cause you DONT use him and when you DO, he doesnt want you too.

She actually is behaving for me. Well, as far as a demon/bounty hunter CAN behave LOL. I've converted her to Supernatural, of all things. ROFL!

  16. Yeah, when dealing with POVs, people tend to like having one POV throughout the entire book. It gets difficult because when playing the bad guys you use terms like I and Me and it gets confusing. So, like the Twilight series and please forgive me for using such a horrible piece of writing, the writer tends to name what person is telling the story. The only time someone really understands using both POVs during a story is with flashbacks.

But I seriously don't see how it would get confusing from using first POV then using third POV for the baddies, I really don't. Was it just that one person or what? Because, that wouldn't be confusing...it would actually be helpful and LESS confusing. So, if that's your comfort zone, then do it. Because if it's only one person and not a whole group, then that person simply doesn't know how to read.

  17. You always have trouble with what POV to use. :p But, I don't blame you really, certain stories call for certain POVs. If you need help, just let me know. :)

Haha, I would be heart broken if I let my muses down. ;) I use Lori for other things now, I thought of putting her to rest completely, but actually teared up at the idea. She's just too much apart of me.

I hope you can get back into the swing of writing, I know it's frustrating, believe me. Glad everything is okay with you there.

    Have a Good day!

    ~Lori

  18. Well don't get me wrong, I still love Dukes, just gave up writing for it. ;) I've been a member on here for too long to not come back to this place. :p hehe. How's things going with you?

  19. Chicken (baby chick I had a good reason to use chicken)
  20. Heh, I love the cold weather so I'm usually outside then too. But, just cause you're such a flattering person and a great friend to me, I'll definitely sign in more often than I have. :)

  21. Hey Rog! :D It's gettin' pretty around here since it's finally fall! I've been outside mostly, hence why I've not been on here much at all lately! How're you doing?
