Feeling the freedom of no one in view, Garrett allows his car to slow a bit to give the powerful engine a rest a bit while resting back into his leather seat. He finally glances into his rear view mirror and his heart skips a beat as he sees Jesse's vehicle come across the curve and into view. Sitting up in his seat he presses the accelerator down forcefully the car jolts forward with increase speed. "Eat my dirt, Jesse," he says aloud with a confident smile.3 points -

Definitely a shocker. So sad to hear that his wife, kids and family have lost him and that millions of his fans will never see him race again. ABC News showed a snippet of his interview after his last race where he said each win was special because you never know when it will be your last. Chilling.3 points -

Keeping his attention on the race, Garrett refuses to fall into everyone's competitive talk and pushes the pedal down farther and a hint of a smile crosses his face at feeling the great power of the engine. Passing Jesse, he gives him a slight respectful nod, before speeding up front. (Sorry y'all I've been away from my computer a bit.)3 points -

I’m over a month late to this but I just made my second visit to cooters in Luray on May 1st. I was passing through anyway so it was a perfect stop to eat and rest. It was my first time trying the restaurant but it was amazing. Unfortunately all the events were happening at the Nashville location but it’s always an awesome visit. I’m exhausted as well we did 3,000 miles.3 points -

Jesse is really excited about this race. He has never been one to embrace technology but is making an exception. After Rosco caught Elon Musk in the celebrity speed trap, Jesse and the boys broke him out of jail and in order to return the favor, Elon agreed to fix up Emma's dirt bike and convert it into a technologically superior racing machine that is only programmed to dominate races. It simply cannot lose. Unlucky for Emma though she broke her collar bone jumping a 60 foot wide creek two days earlier so asked Jesse to take her place. Filled with confidence that technology and AI simply cannot fail, Jesse was already daydreaming about that kiss Emma was going to give him in the winners circle.3 points -

Sorry, I'm a little late with my Miami Grand Prix summary, but the result changed slightly after the race, so it worked out in the end. As before this season, Kimi Antonelli didn't get the best start, and was passed by Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, although Max almost immediately had a spin which lost him several places. In the opening laps, Kimi briefly retook the lead before Charles got it back, and then Lando Norris took second from Kimi. As that was happening, Isack Hadjar hit the barrier and Pierre Gasly flipped over before landing the right way up. Both drivers were fine, but it brought out the safety car. When the pit stops came around, Charles had a slow stop which slipped him back a little. By about the mid-race point, Kimi got past Lando and Max (who'd pitted earlier). In almost a mirror of Max's first lap, Charles had a spin on the last lap and lost a couple of places. At the checkered flag it was Kimi in the Mercedes in first for his third win in a row. Behind him were the McLarens of Lando and Oscar Piastri ahead of the other Mercedes of George Russell. Max fought back to fifth, and the video linked below shows Charles ending up in sixth, but a post-race penalty dropped him to eighth behind Lewis Hamilton and Franco Colapinto. The race highlights are here. There's now a 3-week gap until the Canadian Grand Prix from the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal.3 points -

F1 is finally back this weekend with the Miami Grand Prix, but I'll post about that later. First, I read the sad news earlier that Alex Zanardi died yesterday at 59 years old. The Italian driver spent a few years in F1 before moving to the US where he won the CART World Series in 1997 and 1998 with Chip Ganassi Racing. After that, he had another brief stint in F1 before returning CART. In 2001, he lost both legs in a terrible crash in Germany, and survived for nearly an hour with less than a litre (under two pints) of blood left in his body. Undaunted by the injury, he returned to various forms of motor racing., but it was racing handbikes where he really succeeded once more becoming a four-time Paralympic gold medallist and 12-time world champion. There was a minute's silence for Alex Zanardi before today's Miami F1 sprint race. There's a full article at bbc.com.3 points -

An excellent suggestion by cousin Roger, was to start a new thread for the annual race this year! I thought...YES! That's an excellent suggestion! I'm going to smoke cousin Roger! No matter what he says! I've invented a new engine for the Moonshine mauler! It uses gas or shine equally well! I'll be communing with the spirits, while running the race and if I start running low on gas, instead of a pit stop, I'll save/make time, by pouring shine into the tank without having to hit pit road. You guys don't stand a chance! I'll have the most powerful engine and not have to make pit stops either! I'd like to see Garrett beat me this year!! Ha!! He better get a move on! I'm also going to use a special kind of shine that gives a racing engine extra kick! I'm going to watch that episode where Jesse uses Shine to beat a female revenuer......help me out brethren....what episode/year is that....you know name, episode, year etc.??? I'm lost! .....Cut me some slack....I lack to never found my way off the track last week while I was practicing!! ....so I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer!2 points -

From cootersplace.com: Our Smoky Mountain journey began in Gatlinburg back in 2002, where so many wonderful memories were made through the years. Later, we brought Cooter’s to nearby Pigeon Forge and continued building something very special with all of you. Now, after nearly a quarter century in the Smokies, we are preparing for our final season there. For the rest of this season, we’re planning a wonderful lineup of events, celebrations, reunions, stories, music, laughter, and memories with the people who helped make The Dukes of Hazzard such a lasting part of American pop culture. We are especially excited to welcome Catherine Bach, Tom Wopat, Byron Cherry, and Jeff Altman during this closing season, along with the wonderful staff here at Cooter’s who have loved and cared for our visitors through the years like family.2 points

Jesse starts to gain ground on the pack and gets close enough to see Meadowmufn and Hoss ahead of him. He gets excited that he might not finish last after all. But this is the Mooonshine 400. It's not like any other race in the world. Here it is possible to be an old man riding an old lady's Yamaha dirt bike that is normally used to deliver mail and win after a disastrous start. Jesse knew that and his confidence started growing. If a guy pulling a yacht could do this well, so could he. "Only in Hazzard!" he laughed to himself and twisted the throttle as far as it would go.2 points -

"10-4 Thanks Skipper but the only tour I'm interested is the tour of the winner's circle with Emma planting a kiss on my cheek. But I don't really have much chance of winning now. I was stupid and trusted that tech junk when I should have known better. Maybe she will give me a sympathy kiss." In the meantime, Emma had given up on tech too after her computer blew up along with the one hooked to Jesse's dirt bike. Since there was no way she could use her remote control back up, she hopped on her other dirt bike and started down Iron Mountain, hoping to make it to the finish line before the race ended. She knew Jesse would need consoling after what he had been through.2 points -

Jesse noticed Hobie slowing down and was insulted. "I don't need no charity! I was the dang fool who trusted all this tech garbage!" He looked up on top of Iron Mountain and noticed a puff of smoke. Emma's computer must have blown up too. Lucky for Jesse, the heat from the explosion melted the plastic fasteners and the charred computer fell off. "Good! It's just me and the motorcycle. Just like the old days with me and my '38 Silver Streak. Now it's time to catch back up. Looks like Skipper is way ahead now that Hobie slowed down"2 points -

Jesse had been looking forward to this for weeks, a chance to impress Emma and show her he can embrace technology. At first he had been pretty skeptical of all the tech on the Muskcycle but Elon and Emma had shown him the light....andd just before the starting gun he was more convinced than ever that the tech will come through and he would win easily and get that kiss. BANG the starting gun went off. Jesse twisted the throttle and let the clutch out, anticipating riding a wheelie the first 300 feet while running through the first 3 or 4 gears. The next thing you know there was a second loud bang. But it wasn't the starting gun going off again. It was Elon's computer that was hooked up to the engine of the dirt bike blowing up. Thankfully Jesse wasn't hurt but the dirt bike stalled out and never even crossed the start line. "Ding Dang! I should have know better that to trust this contraption!"2 points -

Jesse is here sitting on the dirt bike and his only job is to put the kick stand up when the race starts. Everything is going to be done remotely by Elon in his office and by Emma who is looking down from the peak of Iron Mountain. This is going to be an easy win for Team Tisdale. The bike has been programed by the biggest tech genius in the history of the world and it's only command is to win the race at all costs. Emma's role is actually pretty minimal. She is really only going to be there to make minor adjustments and take the remote controls as a back up if something goes wrong.....but that is not likely to happen because technology is superior to humans and nothing can possibly go wrong. The race is in the bag. Jesse can sit back, relax and let the Elon Muskcycle do all the work. High tech is gonna shine in the Moonshine 400. You people who are stupid enough to not believe in technology are gonna learn how superior it is.2 points -

Here's a short video with Stephen Fry explaining what he thinks are the differences British and American comedy. They're certainly very different, but both can be very funny. Watching the "Americans React" videos has shown me how few British comedies most American have seen and how it takes a while to get used to the different tone before they get into them and appreciate them. I hope I'm encouraging some of you to look at shows from outside the US.2 points

Yep And you aren't going to believe what I have planned. You will never guess. Okay, I can't wait. I have to say it. I'll be on Emma's postal dirt bike but she is going to be operating it remotely on top of Iron Mountain where she can see the entire race. Ain't no way anybody can beat me and her when we team up. I have to give you credit Hobie with your buttermilk comment. I thought it would be fun to have a buttermilk in each hand so you inspired me by saying I was racing with one hand. I'm taking this to the next level. You might have noticed I've been delivering the mail in my truck lately. That's because Emma has been at Elon Musk's house these past couple days and they are working on the bike. I have to admit I am a little concerned. She is quite a catch.
