HossC Posted March 14, 2018 Report Share Posted March 14, 2018 I thought that quote might be apocryphal, but apparently Henry Ford did say "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black" during a meeting in 1909. However, according to Wikipedia, the Model T wasn't available in black until 1914. Black was the quickest drying color, and another source says that black was the only color available from 1914 to 1925 so they could keep up with demand. I don't know if this fits your criterion, but it's a word I like: mellifluous adjective: (of a sound) pleasingly smooth and musical to hear.
