HossC
I just heard this sad news on the radio before I left work. They have a spot each week where they talk to a pair of American correspondents with differing political views, but both were united in their tributes to Loretta Lynn. RIP to the Coal Miner's Daughter. Hobie Hartkins, Philip_Duke, Skipper Duke and 1 other 1
MonacoMan
I heard this earlier this morning...very sad, but it sounds like she went peacefully in her sleep. Prayers for the family! Skipper Duke and RogerDuke 1

I complain about technology a lot but it does have its benefits. I'm still in the mourning stage. Skipper Duke

If you don't think Loretta could act, you're crazier than an ol' mare full of dynamite too! I wish she could have too!
Hobie Hartkins
She was also REAL! Which is more than I can say for a lot of supposed " Country" ( notice the quotes!) acts like Garth Brooks, Shania Twain etc.
HossC
From Gy Waldron in 'The Dukes Of Hazzard - Building the Legend' DVD extra: When Loretta Lynn came in she had a terrible sore throat. It was the kind of sore throat that if an actor had had it, you wouldn't see him for two days. And...But she's in town, she's going to do a concert with this sore throat, and she's going to be on 'Dukes of Hazzard'. And so she comes in and she sings. And, I just remember thinking that this...That's a typical coal miner's daughter. "I've come to work, and if I drop in my tracks, that's what I'm here to do."
