  1. From what I understand about what I learned in film school... A film has to make one and 1/2 of it budget to be considered a financial success. So if the figure was roughly about $75 million (after settlement with Moonrunners people) The film would have to garner a total of somewhere in the region of $105 mill. But that would include Domestic, Int'l, and Home Video sales... Just my 2 cents... Hey, I think I am gonna pursue that writing job and see maybe if I can make Hazzard a little more recognizable for the fans. An even mix of the original and the new stuff... I'm gone...
  2. I'm all Hogg with a dash of Coltrane...My Halloween Costume (I am attempting is Boss JD Hogg. If I pull it off, I will send y'all a picture. All I need to find is the hat, the Coat, and the pocket watch.
  3. Even though it's too late....Here's my casting choices. Bo: Orlando Bloom (you know he's a good Blonde...think LOTR) Luke: Tom Welling Daisy: Jordana Brewster Uncle Jesse: Sid Haig (He's got the voice and the beard...givem a wig) Enos: Michael Weston (minus the mustache) Boss Hogg: Will Sasso Roscoe P. Coltrane: Bill Engvall Cooter: Johnny Knoxville (He's just Cra-azy enough to pull it off) Well that's my 2 cents... I'm Gone...
  4. Here's my 2 cents... or at least the basis of my fanfic sequel...With the farm saved, Bo and Luke go back to shine delivery and are caught in a trap by Roscoe and Sheriff Little. Rosco get scuffed in a horrendous crash, and addles his brains, making a little simpler minded than in the first one. The Duke Boys get arrested and are in court about to be sentenced when the ATF comes in with a written statement from Jesse Duke swearing off moonshine in favor of probation for the boys. Boss Hogg is so depressed by losing the shine case, he starts eating and eating and balloons up. (can you imagine Burt fat? lol) Insert rest of story here...I do plan on leaving Sheev out of it for the most part...most of the stuff he did in the film, Cooter shouldve done... I'm Gone
  5. ok...you're right...It did show closed-mindedness. I meant that it was offensive to the Flag itself, not to anyone in particular. I guess that prejudice does go both ways, and that was the filmmaker's way of showing how ignorant some people can really be. Any way...just thought I should clear my explanation up...don't want anyone to misunderstand me... I'm gone...
  6. Some of the things they did to each other screamed JACKASS rather than we're cousins, we watch each other's backs, and have respect for each other. As for the Flag Scene, that was more offensive than if they left it off the car. The other really enjoyable thing was the outtakes (even if they were rude and crude, 'specially that comment by the "governor") I'm gone... J.D. Hogg Jr.
  7. Howdy all, JD Jr. is back. So my story ideas for a New Dukes Series were shot out of the water. I had proposed a limited 13 episode run, culminating in a cliffhanger type episode reminiscent of Dallas and The Simpsons in the vein of "Who Shot..." I will leave it at that... Now as for a review of the updated Dukes of Hazzard... When I first heard about the casting, I was really upset. Stifler is not Bo, Jackass is not Luke, Willie Nelson had the look for Uncle Jesse and Burt Reynolds is not fat enough to even be related to a Hogg. I had no opinion on Roscoe, Cooter, or Daisy. Now fast forward to Late May / Early June. They announce the delay of the opening weekend for the movie. This kinda pisses me off, as I still had an open mind. Then I saw the trailer. I was scarred for life. Aside from the awesome looking car stunts, the acting was bland, and the jokes were horrible. Now August 6th rolls around and I am armed with my free ticket, thanks to WB and the Third Season, and an open mind. I figured, okay maybe after the mediocre trailer, they would have fixed it up in the editing room. Boy was I wrong. I spend the evening watching Sky High, which was rather enjoyable, and then I sat down to watch the Dukes of Hazzard. Bo's relationship with The General was MAJORLY disconcerting, especially after announcing to two girls that the General was a "HE" and not a "SHE". I really think they confused Roscoe with Sheriff Little...except for whatsisface not being Black. What really got me going was the fact that Boss "Hogg", if you can call him that was never TOTALLY in WHITE anytime in this movie!!! In his first scene and while at the Boars Nest he had a GREY STRIPED SHIRT under his vest. At the Race he was wearing a CREME colored suit! And the fact that he referred to Roscoe as his "Dog". I had a huge problem with the Drug References and the "Punk'ding". No real family bonding and Uncle Jesse's lame jokes. Sheev was unnecessary, but some of the stuff he did was a little humourous, like the Armadillo helmet. I think I will try and correct this movie by writing a semi-sequel fanfic that tries to correct some of the more blatant errors in the film. But that is just me.
  8. 29, Male, No, not in the least...well...nothing against the General....the cast and script were what ruined it for me...
  9. 29, Male, No, not in the least...well...nothing against the General....the cast and script were what ruined it for me...
  10. Argh!! that was mind numbingly stupid...I watched the first five minutes and then changed the channel. bleah....
  11. I remember it like it was yesterday...hmm...maybe it was yesterday... nevermind...just kidding. I am now living in Hawaii, but I was a resident of Chuluota, Florida for about 6 months. During that time, I met a lot of wonderful people. One day my Landlady dragged me to the Taste of Oviedo fair. Not having much money, I was kinda reluctant to go, but she told me it would be fun. I agreed and accompanied her up past the food booths and back down. I had $15.00 in my wallet, but told her I only had $5. So we separated and agreed to meet in half an hour near the entrance. It was a hot summer day in Florida and I wandered around for a bit and I came across a large selection of beautiful framed oil paintings. I walked around admiring the paintings and saw a table. What I saw on the table made me do a doubletake. Sitting in a box on the table were publicity shots of Mr. Best and Flash. There was a small handwritten sign that read, "Personalized Autographs $10" I glanced over the large painting that was blocking the edge of the table and lo and behold, Mr. Best was sitting there. I immediately picked up a photo and pulled out that $10 bill and walked up to him. About that time, my landlady just happens to walk by and shouts, "I thought you only had $5!!" I turned to her and told her that I had saved for a rainy day and this was going to make the rain disappear. I spoke with Mr. Best for several minutes about film school and he handed me his card with my autographed photo. I thanked him graciously and said goodbye. I moved twice after that wonderful day and I still have his autographed photo in a folder waiting to be framed. His business card for "Best Friend Films" resides in a special place in my business card index. Now that I am in pre preproduction on my film, I am hoping to get Mr. Best for a cameo appearance...Crossing my fingers. Well, Story time is over, if you have any wonderful stories about Mr. Best, please reply. I love hearing about meeting actors. He was indeed one of the kindest actors I met. And I have met only one other actress who stands toe to toe with a large heart, and that is the lovely Meg Foster. But that is another story.... Ttyl, I'm gone... JD Jr.
  12. Well, I hope he can do Hazzard County's Oldest Virgin justice...lol. I just love that description...I luv it, I luv it...
  13. Yes-sir-ree-bob... All that wonderful info is so much appreciated. Mahalo nui Loa, as they say in Hawaii. (Which means Thank you very much, for all you non-hawaiians) Anyway, back to work...gotta plug away if I'm gonna have 24 stories by July of next year... I'm gone... JD. Jr.
  14. Actually that is really close. I don't know how many people know about how a shooting schedule works, but in case you don't... First off, films are not shot the way you see them on screen. That is the magic of the editing room. Shooting schedules vary from project to project. Some of them are made around an actor's schedule if he or she is extremely popular and they're time is limited. Now as for the schedule for the new film, they must be putting in 15 hour days on that set... LOL...But anyway, they must be on a tight schedule...5, maybe 6 weeks of shooting, puts them mid January. Scoring, soundtrack, and foley work, mid feb. Pickups and reshoots, another 2-3 weeks, depending on complexity, Early to mid March. Editing takes about a month to six weeks, mid April to Early May. Bigwig and test audience screenings, a week. Maybe more reshoots, another 2 weeks, End of May. Finished product taken to be duped, 4 weeks, End of June. Premiere in Hollywood 3 weeks before wide release to theatres. I think that about covers it...Any questions, feel free to ask! I'm gone, JD jr.
  15. Thanks for the leaving it up. I appreciate it whole-heartedly. I understand, and I applaud your cautiousness. I take precautions as well, as I have had my identity stolen. That is why iI would do business over private mail than posting my address for the world to see. That is the reason for notorizing all my legal documents. I want it to be official and there are no ifs ands or buts about it. I do realize by even posting some of the ideas, that they are at risk of being stolen, but if they are, I took that risk to work with some fine writers, and that would be the end of that. No particular reason for choosing Hazzardnet. I read some of the more incredible stories and would love to work with some of you out there, as they are mighty fine stories. I shall post the top 5 stories that impressed the heck outta me, and at the author's discretion, they can contact me. I just finished a huge thanksgiving lunch and probably resemble my namesake at the moment. I am too stuffed to even type anymore...so I'm gonna stop. HAPPY THANKSGIVING Y'ALL I'm gone...(urp!) J.D. Jr.
  16. Hey, I may sound persistant and tough, but that just comes from the active imagination. You know what they say, right...You write what you would most like to experience. Now as to your post... Thank you very much! I was waiting for someone to bring up legalities, and here is what I am working on for that. I am in the process of acquiring non-disclosure agreements for this run of stories. I also find that I write better when I can actively collaborate with someone. Don't ask me why, but I just do. As for the non-disclosure forms, the jist of it reads much like what you see at the top of fanfics. ie the characters based on the original DOH series (Boss Roscoe, Luke, Daisy, etc.) belong to Gy Waldron, and the new characters (Jake, Joe, and Rose) are copyrighted by me. Now here is where anyone else fits in. In the form, I agree to abide by this legally binding document, that if I use any idea from someone else, and not credit them for it, I can be sued to the fullest extent of the law. (BTW, I do have a notary to have them notarized and have copies that will be mailed back to you.) I realize that it is a cutthroat industry out there, but as a wise man in the eighties once said "One man can make a difference". I actually aspire to be a producer one day, and I want to make sure I can work with all sorts of people on a lot of different projects. And as for samples, I am going to need a non-disclosure form as well, to protect my work, naturally, so you can send me a private email to Pineappledanf@yahoo.com. As for what I have done, so far, my only credit in Hollywood is an Intern to Craft Services in 'Monster' starring Charlize Theron. I am in the process of making my first feature. I finished the screenplay last week, I am in the process of copyrighting it. I am also putting together a budget to submit to my investors (As it stands, I have 3 investors and am looking for 4 & 5) Putting together a budget is one of the hardest things that I have had to do since helping design an old folks home in film school! Now that was a lot of work...But anyway, send me a private email, with a mailing address and I will get a non-disclosure for to you with a SASE to mail it back to me. I hope this helps in clearing up any thoughts of misdeeds and dark dealings, such as what Sheriff Hogg is planning... Talk to y'all later, I'm gone, J.D. Jr. P.S. Anymore questions, feel free to ask.
  17. I'm sorry, I'm not sure if I understand your post, but that sounds like a retelling of the origin of Beau and Luke. Jacob and Joseph are the new Duke boys, and for continuity's sake; Jake Duke is Vance's Son and Joe is Coy's son. Now if all Hazzardites can agree on this, I would appreciate you letting me know We can technically "kill" Coy and Vance off. Whaddaya think? Post your replies here...I check it everyday...sometimes twice. I'm gone... J.D. Jr.
  18. Well, howdy all... I'm at a kind of loss, I thought this would stir up some attention from the diehard fans, but I guess I was wrong. I have the 2 hour pilot almost completed and am starting work on the episode "The Last Will and Testament of Jesse Duke". I hope some of you fanfic writers out there can be encouraged to submit to me a story that you think will continue the legend of the Dukes Family. I think I'll just leave it at that... I'm gone... JD. Jr.
  19. I would hope that they wouldn't compromise the sanctity of Waylon's excellent song by having someone else re-record it. But you can never tell with Hollywood these days. Anyway, if I can ever figure out my Avid Xpress Pro, and once more DVDs of the Dukes come out, I can make tribute music videos... I'm gone... JD Jr...
  20. Hi all, Don't know if you read my topic on "The Dukes: Return to Hazzard County". But I am working on a series of teleplays that I plan to present through an agent to the WB for a "Next Generation" (For lack of a better description) of the Duke Family. "Woody" plays an integral part in the pilot of the series. After being paroled, he returns to Hazzard County to take revenge on the Sheriff and the Dukes, but finds Hazzard a little different from when he left. (doing best Waylon impression) Don't that beat all, that's just one of the story arcs...there'll be plenty more excitement, if'n y'all hang around... Anyway visit my topic and leave your thoughts and ideas. TTYL J.D. Jr.
  21. Okay apparently my other reply got lost on the internet.... Well, Thanks for the warm welcome, Brian. I want to say that I have thought of this and considering that they greenlit a "remake" of the series, since it is only 25 years out, says something about the Dukes. They haven't even begun working on older shows, but have decent premises about I dream of Jeannie, The Munsters, and Bewitched (Alright, Bewitched is filming as we speak.) Those shows are vastly older, but still have marketing potential. I think that is what they see with this new "Dukes movie". If they can make a buck with this "re-invention" they won't stop there. If we as fans can make a concerted effort to prove that we are truely residents of Hazzard County, by creating a addition to the legacy of The DOH. If we don't do it, some high priced, high falutin', guy might beat us to it and then we get nothing, except the fact that we know it came from us. Keep them suggestions coming it. I am pluggin away at the 2 hour Pilot. I'm gone, JD.
  22. Thanks for the suggestion, but I already have plans for another character that uses the name. Here is the basic synopsis Eps: The New Duke in Town A mysterious woman shows up in Hazzard claiming to hold the last will and testament of the late Jesse Duke, claiming to be his grand-daughter Jessi . Jake and Joe Duke must find validity in this claim by contacting their Aunt Daisy and Uncle Beau. All suggestions are still welcome, and remember if this goes through, I will list you as story by credit. "This Family has a lot of history. It's up to you boys to continue that heritage. Make me proud." ---Luke Duke "Pilot"
  23. Hi everyone, I am kinda new to the message board, but I have been a lifelong DOH fan. I am a screenwriter and my head is chock full of ideas. But one of the ideas that I would like to see is a new DOH TV series, that continues the story of the Duke Clan. Now I am going to reserve my judgement of the new film until it comes out. But anyway on to my premise. The Dukes: Return to Hazzard County Luke Duke has retired from the National Forestry Service and returned to Hazzard County to live in the house filled with so many memories. After settling in, he is surprised by Daisy and her daughter, Rose. Daisy is a heading a team of scientists looking for something (Haven't quite figured out what she's using that education for, yet) and wants Luke to watch over Rose. He is surprised again a week later when his "Cousins" (Sons of Coy and Vance) show up with a letter, stating the farm as their "residence" while on probation (For running something a little more dangerous than moonshine) Back in town, there's major dissention being spread by the new sheriff, William Jefferson Hogg. Boss Roscoe is still up to his old tricks, and a brand new deputy from Los Angeles is sworn in. If any of you have any story ideas for this "new series" Please contact me via email. I am going to collect the 24 best story ideas and translate them in to Teleplays. From there, I will try to find an agent to help me present it to the WB. Any submission will be credited, and if the series is picked up, I will figure out more for the writer from there. I'm gone... J.D. Hogg Jr.
  24. or if they are really vindictive...they can make them Coy and Vance...I shudder to even mention those names, but they are still "Part" of Duke History...
  25. I am not looking forward to an "attempt" at making a Dukes of Hazzard movie...I have and always will love the show. I am more interested in seeing a (which is a screenplay that I am writing) "Next Generation" continuance of the Dukes Story. As I work on the story more, I will get around to posting more of the plot... As it stands, Coy and Vance's sons come to Hazzard County to live with their Uncle Luke (since John is busy with Smallville). Of course there are similarities to the original. But what isn't a remake or a spinoff or a blatant ripoff out of Hollywood these days?
