I'll write my F1 race report later when I have more time, but I just wanted to post a quick congratulations to ex-F1 driver Robert Kubica. He had what Rosco would call "a horrendous crash" at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix (see video below), and nearly died when a barrier penetrated the cabin of his rally car in 2011. Yesterday, he won the Le Mans 24 Hours in a privately entered Ferrari 499P alongside co-drivers Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson. They were just over 14 seconds ahead of the second placed Porsche.

I’m watching Season 1’s “Money To Burn”, which first introduced Cletus Hogg, in memory of Rick Hurst. As Enos/Sonny said…”RIP, buddy roe!”

This is a 5-year-old video from Ed Bolian's VINwiki YouTube channel. He posts a lot of videos and I don't have time to watch many of them, but I enjoy the ones I do get time to see. This week, the VINwiki channel also posted the latest series of Car Trek. For those of you who haven't seen the previous editions, Car Trek features YouTubers Ed Bolian (VINwiki), Tyler Hoover (Hoovies Garage) and Freddy Hernandez (Tavarish) doing car challenges similar to those seen on Top Gear.

To save having to go through MSN, here's the General Lee video:

When I first met Rick, it was in the 90's, so the WWW was in its infancy. When I told him about HazzardNet's predecessor (the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department on Prodigy), he was excited there was a community of fans online still discussing and enjoying the show. He told me he'd be right back and when he returned, he handed me an enormous folder of 8x10s, several of them signed. That was very generous of him. I still have them packed away from the move, but when I find them (someday), I will scan them in and put them on the site.
When I mentioned where I worked at the time, we had a connection there and he told me some amazing stories. We just had an awesome conversation. He was very personable and gracious. At the Dukesfest in '01, I got to do an impromptu square dance with him and Jimmie.  Good times. I would've liked to have gotten to know him better, but my health and work situations over the years didn't permit me to get to events as much as I'd have liked.

I forgot to mention 'On the Rocks'. Rick played one of the inmates in this prison-set sitcom in the mid-70s. It was based on the British sitcom 'Porridge', which coincidentally I'm watching right now. I've only ever seen a couple of clips of 'On the Rocks' - maybe it'll make it online one day. Here's the intro:

I take these things very hard since Dukes have been a big part of my life when they debuted in 1979 and these actors are truly family. I'm grateful for the HazzardNet because you folks can relate to the pain I'm feeling now. My condolences to all of you.
There is a happy reunion in Hazzard Heaven today between Boss, Rosco and Cletus. But there are plenty of tears on Earth for those of us who loved Cletus/Rick.
I just checked the family section in my notebook and there is not a whole lot of his family mentioned, except Boss of course.
He made his first appearance in season 1 where he was called Boss's cousin.
Cletus mentioned his Mama in season 2.
He is called Boss's third cousin twice removed in season 3.
Cletus mentions his Mama again in season 4.

I can’t believe it in a sense, but there it is.

Rick Hurst has crossed the creek on that rainbow bridge, now not only reunited with his kinfolk, but also a lot of the Dukes family who’ve gone on before him.

I’m saddened I never got to meet him, I think it would have been fun to know him.

    God bless y’all.

I was not expecting a punch to the gut today, but here it is. Rick was such a kind man. Made me feel right at home on the reunion sets. We had some great conversations. He loved to talk about his son. He was always a class act whenever we visited him at events.

Very sad to hear that Rick has passed away. I would have loved to meet him and get an autograph. He was only at Cooter's Place just this past Sunday. Rest in Peace Rick (Cletus) I hope you're with the rest of the Dukes cast that has gone over the rainbow bridge.

Hobie Hartkins reacted to HossC in Daisy Dukes Added to Dictionary
"Daisy Dukes" have officially been added to the Oxford English Dictionary, 46 years after we first saw them on screen. They are among over 230 new words/terms that will now appear in the OED. The Irish Sun (national tabloid newspaper) even made it their featured addition in this article.

You can see the dictionary entry here. In case you weren't sure about the definition:

    Daisy Dukes, noun
    colloquial (originally and chiefly U.S.).

Brief, tight-fitting denim shorts, typically made from a pair of cut-off jeans and usually worn by women. Also as a modifier with the first element in singular form, in Daisy Duke shorts.

Dream on! They don't call my machine the Moonshine MAULER for nothing!!  Cooter just finished tuning it up and  Daisy just gave me a good luck kiss ( and a dirty look! LOL!  )  Everybody knows I'm going to beat every little red buggy on the track! Just to celebrate I'm about to indulge in a few adult beverages now!

    Welcome to HNet, joshkeith.

The ages of the characters are never revealed (except for Abraham Lincoln Hogg by his driver's licence, and therefore his twin brother, Boss), but the subject has been discussed a few times before. Here are three threads to get you started:

    Ages of dukes
    I have a question???
What were the real ages of cast? Anyone know?

Aside from the flashback episodes ('Go West, Young Dukes' and 'Happy Birthday, General Lee'), and the shown-out-of-order season 2 episodes, I think Dukes ran chronologically, although not many storylines crossed episodes or seasons. An example of this is T.C. Rogers becoming Supervisory Administrator of Hazzard County in 'People's Choice' (S2E11), but then she was never mentioned again. Of course, the 2005/2007 movies completely ignored the canon of the TV series, but that's another story!
