  1. Seeing as I mentioned singing with a choir on the first page of this thread, I thought it was time for an update. Earlier this year we sung at a St. Patrick's Day event and at a small event in the summer. To bring this post back on topic, I've just got back from our latest outing, which was singing in front of 450+ people in a 13th Century cathedral. I never thought I'd be doing that a year ago.
  2. Back to the game... Mason DiXon's Girls
  3. UNCLE Charlie's UPHOLSTERY (from 'The Hack of Hazzard') I have it in my notes, but the information is freely available online, e.g. The Boar's Nest Wikipedia page. If you want to check it out, you can go there on Google Maps.
  4. 290 Flat ROCK ROAD (real address of the original Boar's Nest)
  5. Mr. PRUITT (PRINTER in 'Mrs. Daisy Hogg')
  6. Here's John and Emma doing the jive in week 2. I didn't know that Len Goodman was still judging DWTS. He gave up Strictly Come Dancing two years ago, and followed it in the UK with an awful Saturday evening game show called 'Len Goodman’s Partners in Rhyme' (it currently scores 1.8/10 on IMDb - it was that bad!).
  7. NIPSY Malone (Mary Beth Malone's father mentioned in 'Deputy Dukes')
  8. "We ain't got time to sit around and LOLLYGAG and drink that slop." - (Rosco in "To Catch a Duke")

    NASCAR news

Spike, as I said above, I haven't had time to follow NASCAR this season, and this week I just checked out a couple clips of Sunday's race. It led me to wonder what you thought of the Charlotte Road Course. Oval racing isn't that big over here, so I'm used to watching pretty much all track-based motor racing on what you'd call road courses (F1 courses are generally just known as tracks/circuits, with the exception of street circuits which used closed-off streets). When F1 was briefly at Indianapolis (2000-2007), they used an infield course in conjunction with about a mile of the oval (run in reverse). Rockingham is the only speedway in the UK (there are apparently only two in Europe), and the only racing series that I follow that uses Rockingham is British Touring Cars (BTCC), and they use its road course.
  11. GREENSVILLE (where Daisy says Bo is meant to have gone in "My Son, Bo Hogg")
  12. Well done, Boss JD Hogg. Keep them posts coming .
  13. Madame DELILAH She was the professor looking for the buried regimental payroll in 'Treasure of Hazzard' (S2E16). It was Jeannie Wilson's second appearance after playing Mary Kaye Porter in season 1.
  14. Boss Sharkey of YREKA County (from 'The Hazzardgate Tape')
  15. "My act is very UNIQUE" (Daisy in 'Daisy's Song') Or one of the bad guys from 'Luke's Love Story' or one of the bad guys from 'Double Dukes'... .
  16. The Dukes of Hazzard: REUNION! (1997 TV movie)
  17. POKERVILLE PASS - (mentioned in "The Sound of Music - Hazzard Style")
  18. It's not really my thing (I've never watched 'Strictly Come Dancing' - the British show that DWTS is based on), but I did do a quick search for videos of John on the show. Here's the introductory dance you mentioned, Roger. It looks to me like it's a 1970 Charger in the background, so only a year out. I also found a video where John and his dance partner, Emma Slater, exchange questions. As Roger said, Emma is English, but I'm afraid I've never heard of her. It looks like she did dancing contests and a bit of stage work before appearing on DWTS. I think John tries to copy her accent a couple of times here. Note that John seems to be wearing a Yee-Haw T-shirt inside out - I guess they couldn't get clearance.

I agree, Spike. I haven't had time to follow NASCAR properly this year, so your posts keep me informed of all the changes going on. Keep up the good work .

    One Word Song Titles

Today we lost half of a British musical institution - Chas Hodges of Chas & Dave. They're probably not well known in the US, but they had a very distinctive style that mixed humorous sing-a-long pub songs with great boogie-woogie piano. This first song is about a partner who talks too much (rabbit and pork is rhyming slang for talk): The title of the second track, Gertcha, is harder to explain, but the lyrics at the start give it a try: I'll finish with a song about a family outing to a southern British seaside resort. Note that Cockneys pronounce Margate to rhyme with target:
