I used to swap messages and emails about decals with Tim, but we haven't been in touch for quite a while now. If he is still making decals, they're very good.

When I first encountered boot sales it was in the UK. Maybe once a month in the summer, ordinary people would drive to a field and sell their old stuff out of the boot (trunk) of their car, normally with a folding picnic or wallpaper table to display their goods. You never knew what you'd find as the people changed each time. The one I went to on Sunday is probably about 90% traders in vans, so there's not much variety week to week. I sometimes buy bits and pieces, and it's a good place to get a huge range cheap low-end tools. I think you're right that flea market or swap meet would be your equivalent, although aren't swap meets usually more specialized?

I can believe the queues. A friend and I went to the local boot sale on Sunday (the definition of boot sale varies, but this one has indoor and outdoor stalls mainly filled with traders, but there are also a few families selling off their old stuff). It was a hot day, so I guess a lot of people had the same idea. We had a small queue to get in, but nothing prepared us for the 50 minutes it took to get out of the car park. We didn't even move for 30 minutes. I spent the afternoon back in town chatting to friends over coffee and ice cream and enjoying the sun.

I don't think 'Enos' was ever shown over here, and I've only ever seen a few grainy clip on YouTube, so I didn't put two and two together when I saw an article titled Samuel E Wright: Tributes paid to actor who voiced crab in The Little Mermaid a couple of days ago. It doesn't mention 'Enos', but as well as voicing Sebastian, Samuel apparently had a very successful stage career including playing Mufasa in the original Broadway production of 'The Lion King' and was part of the original Broadway cast of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in 1971. Speaking about his part in 'The Little Mermaid' in Entertainment Weekly in 1991, Samuel says "Sebastian has given me what I've always wanted as an actor, and that's immortality. As far as I'm concerned, that's why I'm in the business. I want the whole world to love me, remember me forever." RIP. Samuel. The article says his death came "after a three-year battle with prostate cancer".

BTW. John's version of "Wouldn't Want It Any Other Way" was also on the soundtrack of his 2006 movie "Collier & Co."

I checked to see if I had Waylon's version (I don't), and was reminded of Kenny Rogers' song of the same name. Kenny's Lucille ("You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille") was released in early 1977, and while being a completely different song, was also covered by Waylon Jennings in 1977.

I'm not into horror movies, so to me, Brad Dourif is Billy in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'. Fiona Dourif played the pretty scary Bart Curlish in 'Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency' a few years ago. Maybe that's how she got this part. Warning: The video below contains violence!

As I mentioned above, the Plymouth Fury is completely surrounded by polystyrene and that's within a cardboard box with no windows. I usually keep my models "mint in box", but I decided to carefully open the box just to make sure that the car was in perfect condition. The light bar is wrapped separately in the top of the box, with the car inside the main packaging. It's quite a weighty model and feels substantial, but it's not up to the detail level of some of my previous purchases. Only the front doors open, so no opening hood with engine, and no trunk. The tires are plastic rather than rubber, and the front wheels don't steer. The graphics look good (although there are no license plates), but I was rather surprised to find the body painted in an off-white. I would even go as far as to say that it's light beige. I was expecting brilliant white. Finally, the window surrounds are painted silver rather than chrome. Overall, I'd probably give it 7/10. It's the closest diecast replica of Rosco's car that's available in 1:18 scale, but it could've been better (I guess my Authentics General Lee gave me higher expectations). I'm glad that I've added this one to my collection, although I probably won't now be buying the 1975 Coronet. BTW. There's no mention of the Dukes of Hazzard or Warner Bros. on the box, so you have to look carefully to make sure you have the right model!

Our non-essential stores only reopened yesterday, and today I treated myself to one of these. Unfortunately, the model is encased in polystyrene, so it can't be displayed in the box. They also had a 1975 Coronet in Hazzard livery, but they're not cheap over here and I couldn't justify buying both!

I see that Romain Grosjean took his first IndyCar pole at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis this weekend and ended up finishing second. He's due to make a one-off return to F1 with a demonstration run at the French Grand Prix next month.

I see that Tuesday's average gas price was $2.98/gallon. If it keeps going up, it won't be long before you're paying half as much as we do (current price approx $6.70/gallon)!

Liquor What a coincidence - I only read that story after my previous post. The owner apparently drove off with the tiger in his SUV, which would suggest it's not completely wild. I remember "Put a tiger in your tank", but this is a step too far!

It wasn't a faux pas - that list wasn't the race result, it was the drivers' points standings after the New Hampshire race, so it's quite conceivable that there were three drivers tied on points for 6th place. That would explain why the next driver was in 9th. You can see the full results of that race here.
