  1. I wished they would have brought them back for a few episodes that would have made them a little more legitimate. I liked them. They weren't bo and luke but they could have been a whole lot more then what WB let them be.

  3. you guys make me laugh!!! Trust me, the Charger is not coming back because of the dukes of hazzard. Chrysler has been trying to get back in the muscle market for the past 10 years with concepts and R&D... BTW the movie that made the Charger legendary was Bullit in 1968... Best car chase of all time. I can't wait for the Challenger to come back!!! PS- if you haven't driven the new charger, don't dog it yet! Go for a test drive.

  5. I think it's dumb that they don't put the chrome on there. If I remember correctly, the original general had a vinyl top. If they took the chrom off there would be nasty holes. It looks better with the chrome on it anyway, thats why when we repainted my dad's and my uncles chargers, we put the chrome back on them!
  6. yea, I know, those push bars and stuff they put on the bumpers weigh about 75 lbs... a 4 door is usually heavier then a 2 door though by 100 lbs, maybe a bit more depending on model. The real heavy cars are the convertibles! And yea, the new cars definitely handle and stop better. I think my favorite cop cars are the mid '90s Chevy(what were they, impalas?) I forget the name, but my uncle had one. It was pretty quick for a newer car, and the v8 sounded pretty good too!
  7. yea, I was talking about the mid '90s Vics.... I don't know about the new ones. They had a 4.6 in them too, but they weren't much over 200 hp if I remember correct.
  8. 383s were screamers. Even the 2bbl lo po model was rated at 290 hp. I have a friend that built a 383 Magnum(or Commando for you plymouth boys) to the T. Even used the correct Road Runner camshaft and the factory 600 Carter AVS carburaetor. The Road Runner engine was rated at 335 HP. When Steve put it on the Dyno, after a bit of tuning on the ignition and fuel curve, he pulled 338 HP. Thats a lot of power. One trick used to get more power out of them is to put the 440 750 AVS carb on them and pick up about 10-15 ponies. From what I have heard, some of the Sherriffs cars recieved this treatment. A cop car is not light though, It's no road runner, it's got 4 doors so don't be thinking it would be lighter then the general. And you could get a Charger with the HO 383 in it as well.
  9. I have a buddy who was a cop. He said the big block mopars were always the best cop cars. Always the fastest and always handled pretty good. Even in the '80s when they were just 318s he said he still prefered the mopar over the chevy. The Fords were always dogs though. And if you can get an old 318 car or 350 car, They are supposed to be much faster then the new 4.6 L Crown Vics. I guess the crown vics top out about 90 mph, while the older v8s will hit 110 pretty easy. Thats what he and a few others I know said anyway.
  10. I listen to just about all rock, not really mid '90s stuff... Mostly '70s stuff, Southern, and a bit of '80s metal... I like new stuff too, my favorite bands are AudioSlave(as well as SoundGarden and Rage) Velvet Revolver(as well as STP, not GNR though) Saliva, Godsmack and ShineDown. I will listen to just about anything they play on the radio. Silvertide is a new one I am starting to get into as well... I also love country, but I just haven't been in the mood for it lately. Hank Jr. kicks butt! There is some rap I actually like. If it's got good instrumental in it. Jay Z has some stuff I like... "99 problems" rings a bell. But for the most part, I don't listen to it unless its on at a party I'm at. Anyone here a Lynyrd Skynyrd Fan? My all time favorite band.
  11. really? I like super chargers better then turbos... Just simpler imho... As far as my buddy who blew up his motor, he's not stupid. He had to get gas late one night after work. He told the station attendant fill it with premium. They filled it with 87 octane. In oregon, we ain't allowed to pump our own fuel. Any how, it ran fine until he spooled it up going down the freeway. The boost hit about 14 lbs and it went "ping ping POP" and started smoking and rattling real bad. Figure he busted a piston... not a serious frag, but I think the ring land probably broke off. This happened last weekend. The fuel station's Insurance is supposed to cover him on it, but it's gonna cost him about $1500 by the time he's done rebuilding his short block. He's gonna put low compression forged blower pistons in it this time around though, so he should be damn near bullet proof. Like I said, for big horsepower, I like the RWDs, but I would be very happy with 200 hp out of an Acura mill. That should put a car right in the low 14s. They are fun to drive in the twisties, but a big car can be built for that too. That's what I'm planning on doing actually. I've got a pretty good set up right now, I just need to add the proper sway bars and brakes and it will handle like a last gen camaro. basically. I got frame connectors and boxes I just have to weld in but my springs and shocks are all good stuff. I even have a new power steering box that has been revalved. I'd like to take it up and run it on an oval track to see how fast I can go. I bet once I get the suspension dialed right, 140 wouldn't be to hard to manage. Still, I like them all. I consider myself a car enthusiast. Anything thats modified and does things better then stock and most other cars on the road I have mucho respect for. I hope someday my civic will be as kick ass as yours(minus the forced induction aspect.\)
  12. I have to ask though, have you found a cure for wheel hop? Mine is horrble, should I put stiffer springs up front or is there like a traction bar available?
  13. What was the K20A2 in? Is that one they put in Acuras? or is that like a Prelude SI motor? I thought the current SI motor made like 160 HP? I never did test drive one, but sounded like a good start.
  14. ooh, I'm shaking in my boots come on man, I got a buddy that just blew up his 240Z cause of boost. You gotta run a lot of pressure to make the type of horsepower your talking about buddy. we talking like 15 lbs or more of boost. Thats to much for me to be comfy with. Then you start breaking front end parts cause they aren't built for those insane amounts of power. I really don't care how fast your car is. It's all cool, but this is an interenet forum, and we will never meet in person and we will never be able to race our cars. In my neck of the woods, the average street car, domestics are still king of the hill. There are some fast imports, but they got a lot of money in them and I really respect them. Like the nissan I was talking about that just got blown up, I think he was running like 18 lbs of boost with 9.8:1 CR, he got a little regular gas in his fuel tank and fragged a piston. That sucks. I bought my honda for fun, reliable transportation. A HIGH QUALITY super charger kit out of jegs runs about $2700 and then you have to install it and tune it, and have an exhaust to back it up and everything. I'm not into that. Like I said, most around here are running 14.5s in the 1/4 mile and slower. There are a few boosted ones hitting 12s, but they got a lot of money in their cars. I know a little bit about the street scene and the race scene bud, I know there are some quick jap cars out there. But for my money, I'll stick with a RWD American V8 car for real fun and speed. FWD burnouts just feel retarded... Once you've done the real thing that is.... Once I get my computer back and don't have to post this from my school library, maybe I can find some of my old burn out vids from a few summers ago and I can send them to you.
