MaryAnne posted a similar grab to the one below a few months ago in the Trivia thread. Coincidentally I had grabbed this one a few weeks earlier but had filed it as "unknown". The top one is from 'Arrest Jesse Duke', the lower one shows the same sign as it appeared in 'Enos Strate to the Top'. I tried Googling the location as it's the only scene from Dukes that I can think of that clearly has 'Lake Sherwood' named in it. Obviously it had to be near the lake, but where?. When I got no luck with my searching I decided it must have disappeared as part of the redevelopment of the area and that I may never find it. Then, earlier this week TheDukesOfHazzardfan01 posted a link to 'The Dukes of Hazzard: E! True Hollywood Story' on YouTube. The map below is pieced together from a couple of grabs I took from that video - sorry for the bad quality but, as I said, I took the grabs from a YouTube video that looks like it may be a VHS transfer. The map gives the route from WB's studios in Burbank (you can just about make out Alamera, Riverside and Olive as the bottom right) to a filming location near "Sherwood Lake". The directions in the bottom left say something like: 'Dukes of Hazzard' Ventura Fwy west to Westlake Blvd. offramp, turn left stay on Westlake @ Carlisle Rd turn right. First gate on right past Lake Rec. Area entrance on right. Turn in and proceed to parking area. As soon as I saw 'Lake Rec. Area' I went back to the "unknown" grabs. As far as I can tell, Carlisle Road's first gate on the right puts us near the present-day location of Sherwood Lake Golf Club. The black and white map below shows the area as it was in 1980, and clearly shows Park Road running from Carlisle Road up to the south of the lake. The colored map below shows how much this area has changed in the last 30 years, and that Park Road has been considerably re-routed at the southern end. I think that the "Recreational Area" sign was at the junction of Carlisle and Park. To try to confirm the location I've included these last pictures. The top one is taken from inside Enos's car just as he's about to hit Hughie in the other patrol car. Like the first picture in this post it is also from 'Arrest Jesse Duke', so we know it's right by the sign. The lower picture is from 'The Ghost of General Lee', which we know is near the golf club (see this recent post). Both pictures appear to show the same white-topped poles on the right, and the telephone pole has the same markings on it (most of the others down this road had four evenly-spaced markings like the one on the right of the upper picture). If you look at the Google Street View you'll also see that there's some kind of utility box on the right of the road, in a similar position to the one on the far right of the lower top picture. The leaning tree in the middle of the Street View may also be the one above The General in the same picture.

I'm going a bit off-topic here with a sign inspired by Dukes rather than from Dukes. Y'all may be familiar with the Second World War propaganda posters produced by the British government in 1939 with the purpose of raising morale in the event of invasion: They have been reproduced and parodied on everything from mugs to phone covers since being rediscovered in a second-hand book store in England in 2000. It wasn't until this week when I saw and a question on HNet about the theme song from the Reunion! movie that I had this idea for a crossover:

Thanks for the link. I knew most of the stories from other sources, but I don't think I've ever see this documentary. I certainly didn't know that cameraman Rodney Mitchell tragically lost his life in 1980. That must've hit everyone hard. There doesn't seem to be any other mention of Rodney on HNet and his IMDb page only credits his work on Dukes. I did find that his son Lance Mitchell has followed in his father's footsteps and become a cinematographer. You can see his profile here and his IMDb page here.

I was making my way through season 4 looking for patrol cars when I spotted this one in 'Pin the Tail on the Dukes'. About ten minutes into the show Hector takes Mr. Rhuebottom's van and Bo and Luke return it so he doesn't get into trouble. Here's the van as Bo and Luke park up opposite Cooter's: When Rosco follows them into the Square and pulls up in front of the van all the signage on the side has disappeared. The signage on the other side is present when Rosco confronts the Duke boys, and the signage reappears on this side when they drive off with Cooter.

Tut-tut Roger, you really should watch it. There's comedy, car chases and great music. Imagine if Rosco's Celebrity Speed Trap was used to catch some of the best soul and blues musicians and they were put into a movie - there's James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, I could go on. There's also one of my favorite movie lines at 'Bob's County Bunker': To answer your question, "that thing on the roof" is a speaker that they took from a high pole at a kids' playground: They rigged up a microphone: And went up north "to put the word on the streets": I also Photoshopped the speaker onto The General for a Blues Brothers parody in another thread a few months back.

Jake01 is quite right - I had missed this 1974 Ford Torino in 'Follow That Still' (see footnote of this post). It's meant to be an ATF car, but the badge on the door doesn't look anything like the ATF logos I could find on Google. While I was looking up the ATF logos it reminded me of a sketch by Sacha Baron Cohen aka. Borat, Brüno, Frenchy in 'Talladega Nights'. In the sketch he visits the ATF as another alter ego, Ali G. The questioning goes something like "So what does ATF stand for?", "Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives", "And what else does you sell?". You can see the sketch - just remember that the ATF guys are expecting a serious interview. If I can drag myself off that tangent and back to the case in hand, this US Marshal's car appears right at the end of 'Trouble at Cooter's'. This is all we get to see of it, but going by the tail lights it appears to be a 1978 Pontiac Catalina. For some reason the badges on the uniform and on the car door (see insets) both spell Marshal as "Marshall". Does anyone know of a reason for this, or is the guy moonlighting as an amplifier salesman?. Neither of the badges is an authentic US Marshals' badge. Back to regular patrol cars now, and I believe that 'Goodbye General Lee' mark's the first appearance of a 1977/78 Plymouth Fury in the Hazzard Sheriff's livery - I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm mistaken. They swap around a bit because the Dodge Monacos are back for 'Hughie Hogg Strikes Again'. Lastly for this post is another ATF car. This one appears in 'Hughie Hogg Strikes Again'. For this episode the car is a 1973 Plymouth Fury and the badges (as best I can see) are similar to the real ATF logo. I'm sorry that the image is a little blurry but the only time the car is seen stationary is after it flips over - maybe that's why they used an older car. Originally this thread was just going to be for police vehicles, but I've expanded my remit to include other non-civilian cars. Some of these are easy to miss (as Jake01 discovered) because they only appear very briefly, so if I leave any out as I go through the seasons I hope y'all will be sure to tell me. I suppose under the new criteria I should have included the President's Limo. I could go back to get a picture if y'all feel it belongs here.

This commercial is ten years old, but I've been listening to the music again recently. It's a UK commercial for Coca-Cola: When it came out I liked the tune, found out that it was Pierre Henry's 'Psyche Rock', and bought it on a compilation CD a few months later. Because it was a Fatboy Slim remix I never questioned its age, and only recently found out that the original dates back to 1967. If it sounds familiar it may be because Christopher Tyng was heavily inspired by the tune when he wrote the Futurama theme. Christopher Tyng must have liked late '60s music because the Futurama theme also samples The Winstons' 'Amen, Brother' from 1969. The six second drum break, known as the 'Amen Break', that appears at 1:27 has been used on hundreds (literally) of hip-hop, rave, ragga, jungle and acid house tracks.

From the album "I Started Out with Nothin and I Still Got Most of It Left". In another thread I suggested this guy as a possible new Uncle Jesse. He already has the beard and his tour bus is an old van with a wood stove in the back. He also has some interesting guitars; one only has one string and another is made of two hubcaps welded together. I would say that it's a shame he doesn't play country, but when he plays blues this good, why complain? . Thanks for this one Mufn. The only Billy Preston track I have is the very funky . I must search out some more.
