  1. Or if you'd prefer, the live jazz version by the Ramsey Lewis Trio which also came out in 1965.

Once again, I love this song. It has been awhle since I heard this song and of David Lee Murphy . . .one of those artist who only had a couple of hits before disappearing. Too bad too. :( Great song though! If I am remembering correctly, this was his first song that he came out with.

    According to Wikipedia:

Murphy's four albums produced a total of thirteen singles on the country charts, including the Number One hit "Dust on the Bottle" from 1995 and four more Top Ten hits. Although he has not recorded since 2004, Murphy has co-written several singles for other artists, including the Number One hits "Living in Fast Forward" for Kenny Chesney and "Big Green Tractor" for Jason Aldean.

I know that both the Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean songs have been posted in this thread.

  2. This is fantastic - I can't wait to see how the build progresses. What software package did you use to create this?.

Also, well done for identifying the gas pumps. I knew they were Tokheim, but not the model. I have vectorized artwork for the Hoggoco and Tokheim logos if they are any use for your model.

  3. Push bars are usually available on ebay, although there were none for sale when I checked last week. I've just checked again and there's now two for sale; a kit for $349 and an assembled, but unpainted one for $399. These are more expensive than the second link posted by MaryAnne (I couldn't find a price for the first), but both are meant to be replica General Lee push bars rather than generic ones. The link below is an ebay search for 'general lee push bar', so the results will change over time:

There is a link on the page for the assembled version that goes to the company's own website (Smith Bros. Restorations) where the push bar (narrow version) is available $100 cheaper ie. $299 incl. shipping to the lower 48. If you search around you can also find the wide push bar on their site for $399.99:

There's a few other parts that may interest you on their General Lee page, including a roll bar and seat covers:

  4. These three bloopers all fall into the category of visible equipment, ie. equipment that should be out of sight.

In 'Gold Fever' this car flips during the chase scene with Dr. Homer Willis's RV. The explosion blows away the foliage that was covering the pipe ramp, leaving it exposed.

In 'Duke vs. Duke' Flash raises her ears when Rosco tries to jump to victory at the end of the race. It doesn't come out too well in this screengrab, but if you watch the scene you can clearly see that there's a thin black wire pulling the ears up (I've arrowed the visible one on the left ear).

In 'Ding, Dong, the Boss Is Dead' the Dukes have to stop Boss's runaway coffin. The coffin then sails through the air and ends up in a tree/bush. In the long shot there is no tree/bush anywhere near the spot where the General blocks the coffin's path. Additionally, the coffin follows an arced trajectory due to the fact that it's swinging on a very obvious cable.

  5. I've posted the full video, but the song (as it appeared on the album) doesn't start until about 50 seconds in. The guest vocalist, and disembodied head in the video, is Shaun Ryder from the Happy Mondays. I've read in a couple of places that the song was going to called 'It's There', but Shaun's strong Manchester accent made it sound like 'It's Dare' so they changed the name. To keep in with the Japanese theme, the single was titled '挑戦 (Dare)'.

  6. I just spotted this one in Opening Night at the Boars Nest.

As Bubba and Flyod try to run Boss down in the square they supposedly escape in a dark blue chevy nova. However as Bo and Luke back away from the camera to do a j-turn look in the top lefthand side of the screen. It appears that the Malone brothers ditched the car in Hazzard square!! :)

Here's a couple of screengrabs to illustrate CD's point.

Firstly, this is Floyd and Bubba's Blue Nova:

    OpeningNight1.jpg

And here's the parked car (on the left), looking suspiciously similar, and seen just a few seconds after they were meant to have driven off.

    OpeningNight2.jpg

Just to add another blooper from the same scene, the back projection used as Bo and Luke pull up to protect Boss clearly shows 'Seth M. Berley & Co.', which got replaced in season 5.

  7. Hoss, I got another idea/request for Hazzard signs. In the early eps, maybe 1st season, there were some fun signs inside of the Boar's Nest. I think one was the "Boom Boom Room" ? I gotta re-watch and figure it out.

The Boar's Nest sign is already done (back on page 1 of this thread), but I can have a look at the others. Either let me know the episodes and rough times they appear, or send me some screengrabs and I'll see what I can do.

Let's hope that this sign proves less controversial than the last :). It's the sign from the studio that the Dukes visit in 'The Dukes in Hollywood' in season 7. I thought I might get a break here because the 'Studios' text looks like a font called Souvenir, but it wasn't to be.

  8. Not part of my usual record collection, but while we're doing the '80s. I only remembered it because it was used twice in the background of the episode of 'The Fall Guy' ('Win One for the Gipper???' from season 2) that I watched yesterday.

  9. Thanks for posting the link, but I can't help thinking that whoever compiled the list was a bit lazy. The first "movie" is the Dukes TV show!. That's followed by the Dukes movie, Deathproof, and both the original and remake of Vanishing Point. Three movies that came to mind before I read the article weren't even listed:

Bullitt - you can't get much better than Steve McQueen chasing down the bad guys' black '68 charger.

Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry - Peter Fonda evading a helicopter in a '69 Charger.

    - Vin Diesel's supercharged '70 Charger (best car in the movie).

The cars in Deathproof were used because they were paying tribute to other movies. The white Challenger was from Vanishing Point, while the Charger was black like the one in Bullitt, had the same wheels as the General Lee, and the same license plate as the Charger in Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry.

One sad point to note - very few of these Dodges make it to the end of their movies :(.

Whilst looking up the YouTube links above I came across this TV commercial for the 1969 Charger SE (love the crane driver's mustache :)):

  10. Great! (I say sarcastically)

I come to the HazzardNet to get away from all the crazyness of the world, like politics for example ...

I know how you feel Roger - Ireland is in the process of electing a new president (that's our head of state, we also have a Taoiseach who's head of the government) so our lampposts are covered in posters and our mailboxes are full of political junk. That said, here's another political poster:

I hope this is the one you wanted, knightprowl - the Rosco poster from 'One Armed Bandits' you've been asking for.

    RoscoPoster0101.jpg

As with the last one, I've substituted a different photo as I couldn't find this one at any resolution. The text is all done from scratch though.

    RoscoPosterOAB.jpg

I originally posted screengrabs of these billboards here. I've now done my own versions. First is the unfinished 'Hazzard Safety Week' poster from 'Goodbye General Lee'. Just to annoy me, the 'Drive Carefully' text is not quite the same as the last one I did, but I had to make most of it into outlines anyway!. I wonder why the painter didn't finish the black text before starting the red.

This is Lulu's billboard from 'Share and Share Alike'. I couldn't get a better picture of Lulu for this one, so I had to tweak the one from the screengrab.

  11. (12" Mix)

I've been on a bit of an '80s kick musically speaking for the last 48 hours. This one's from 1985 - check out the pastel colors (it was around the time Miami Vice started), and the cutting edge visual effects. This is what 12" remixes were all about - judging by the length I'd say this is the 'Inside Leg Mix'.

  12. It is four on the floor. Refers to the manual transmission (four gears).

As opposed to 'three on the tree', which I don't think I've ever seen over here. From a quick Google search it appears that nearly 85% of cars sold in the US have automatic transmissions. In the UK it's closer to 85% manual (stick) - worth considering if you're visiting and need to hire a car. If you pass your driving test in a manual you can drive an auto, but not vice versa - don't know if it's the same in the US.

  13. Geno - Dexy's Midnight Runners

I don't know how well this song is known in the US compared to Come on Eileen - it was a UK #1 in 1980. This song is a tribute to soul singer Geno Washington and his group Geno Washington's Ram Jam Band (click here for their version of 'Que Sera Sera'). Of course, when I typed the words "Ram Jam" into YouTube it brought up Black Betty. Just like Black Betty, Dexy's Midnight Runners were from Birmingham, but in this case it's Birmingham in the West Midlands of England and not "Way down in Alabam'". :)
