Thanks for the link. I knew most of the stories from other sources, but I don't think I've ever see this documentary. I certainly didn't know that cameraman Rodney Mitchell tragically lost his life in 1980. That must've hit everyone hard. There doesn't seem to be any other mention of Rodney on HNet and his IMDb page only credits his work on Dukes. I did find that his son Lance Mitchell has followed in his father's footsteps and become a cinematographer. You can see his profile here and his IMDb page here.

I was making my way through season 4 looking for patrol cars when I spotted this one in 'Pin the Tail on the Dukes'. About ten minutes into the show Hector takes Mr. Rhuebottom's van and Bo and Luke return it so he doesn't get into trouble. Here's the van as Bo and Luke park up opposite Cooter's: When Rosco follows them into the Square and pulls up in front of the van all the signage on the side has disappeared. The signage on the other side is present when Rosco confronts the Duke boys, and the signage reappears on this side when they drive off with Cooter.

Tut-tut Roger, you really should watch it. There's comedy, car chases and great music. Imagine if Rosco's Celebrity Speed Trap was used to catch some of the best soul and blues musicians and they were put into a movie - there's James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, I could go on. There's also one of my favorite movie lines at 'Bob's County Bunker': To answer your question, "that thing on the roof" is a speaker that they took from a high pole at a kids' playground: They rigged up a microphone: And went up north "to put the word on the streets": I also Photoshopped the speaker onto The General for a Blues Brothers parody in another thread a few months back.

Jake01 is quite right - I had missed this 1974 Ford Torino in 'Follow That Still' (see footnote of this post). It's meant to be an ATF car, but the badge on the door doesn't look anything like the ATF logos I could find on Google. While I was looking up the ATF logos it reminded me of a sketch by Sacha Baron Cohen aka. Borat, Brüno, Frenchy in 'Talladega Nights'. In the sketch he visits the ATF as another alter ego, Ali G. The questioning goes something like "So what does ATF stand for?", "Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives", "And what else does you sell?". You can see the sketch - just remember that the ATF guys are expecting a serious interview. If I can drag myself off that tangent and back to the case in hand, this US Marshal's car appears right at the end of 'Trouble at Cooter's'. This is all we get to see of it, but going by the tail lights it appears to be a 1978 Pontiac Catalina. For some reason the badges on the uniform and on the car door (see insets) both spell Marshal as "Marshall". Does anyone know of a reason for this, or is the guy moonlighting as an amplifier salesman?. Neither of the badges is an authentic US Marshals' badge. Back to regular patrol cars now, and I believe that 'Goodbye General Lee' mark's the first appearance of a 1977/78 Plymouth Fury in the Hazzard Sheriff's livery - I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm mistaken. They swap around a bit because the Dodge Monacos are back for 'Hughie Hogg Strikes Again'. Lastly for this post is another ATF car. This one appears in 'Hughie Hogg Strikes Again'. For this episode the car is a 1973 Plymouth Fury and the badges (as best I can see) are similar to the real ATF logo. I'm sorry that the image is a little blurry but the only time the car is seen stationary is after it flips over - maybe that's why they used an older car. Originally this thread was just going to be for police vehicles, but I've expanded my remit to include other non-civilian cars. Some of these are easy to miss (as Jake01 discovered) because they only appear very briefly, so if I leave any out as I go through the seasons I hope y'all will be sure to tell me. I suppose under the new criteria I should have included the President's Limo. I could go back to get a picture if y'all feel it belongs here.

This commercial is ten years old, but I've been listening to the music again recently. It's a UK commercial for Coca-Cola: When it came out I liked the tune, found out that it was Pierre Henry's 'Psyche Rock', and bought it on a compilation CD a few months later. Because it was a Fatboy Slim remix I never questioned its age, and only recently found out that the original dates back to 1967. If it sounds familiar it may be because Christopher Tyng was heavily inspired by the tune when he wrote the Futurama theme. Christopher Tyng must have liked late '60s music because the Futurama theme also samples The Winstons' 'Amen, Brother' from 1969. The six second drum break, known as the 'Amen Break', that appears at 1:27 has been used on hundreds (literally) of hip-hop, rave, ragga, jungle and acid house tracks.

He already has the beard and his tour bus is an old van with a wood stove in the back. He also has some interesting guitars; one only has one string and another is made of two hubcaps welded together. I would say that it's a shame he doesn't play country, but when he plays blues this good, why complain? . Thanks for this one Mufn. The only Billy Preston track I have is the very funky . It's been ages since I've added anything new to this thread, and this is a sign that I've been planning to do for a while. I'll make it a late tribute to stuntman Al Wyatt Jr. Here's Al in a rare on-screen appearance as the unfortunate bakery delivery driver in 'Cletus Falls in Love'.

The 'Bluesmobile' was a 1974 Dodge Monaco, and it was very tatty considering that it was only six years old when the movie was made. If you've been following The Patrol Cars In Pictures thread you'll know that a very similar 1975 Dodge Monaco appeared as a Hazzard patrol car at the start of the first season.

Roger, I'm not saying you're wrong - just letting you know what it's like here. I think our proximity to the Atlantic helped on this occasion. Some of Eastern Europe, and even places like Italy that are usually warmer than here, had terrible weather. I read a report claiming over 200 people had died across Europe as tempertures plunged to -20C (-4F). Even in Britain they had temperatures down to -16C (3.2F). I guess we got away lightly. Sadly, as I'm writing this the news is reporting that over 30 people have died in tornadoes across the Midwestern US. And we complain about the amount of rain we get!.

Jake, I took a look at your screengrabs and took a few myself. The Capitol City car that appears in 'Big Brothers, Duke' looks exactly like one of Sheriff Little's Chickasaw cars, but without the fangs at the front. The badge on the door is a 7-pointed star with the word "POLICE" in the center and the words "CAPITOL" and "CITY" in a circle. That's all the detail I could see, so there's not enough to reproduce it here. The Capitol City car that appears in 'Happy Birthday, General Lee' has the same color scheme but a different badge. It gets a lot more screentime, and the details are easier to see. You'll recognize the badge as being very similar to the State Police car that I did in this post back on page 1 of this thread. Because the car appears in the flashback sequence it has the beacon style lightbar with a center speaker. Unlike most of the patrol cars in Dukes this one does not have the ring of holes on the hubcaps. I think I got the color a bit closer here than I did with Sheriff Little's car. I might have to go back and subtly change that when no ones looking .

We've had a very mild winter here. We left it very late last year before we turned the heating on. The last couple of weeks have seen temperatures in the high 50s or low 60s. Some parts of the UK had snow in late January, but it didn't last long. We haven't had any here.

Here's a couple of continuity errors I spotted in 'Happy Birthday, General Lee'. The first is the lights on the Capitol City patrol car. When it first chases the black Charger the blue light is above the driver, but a few seconds later, and in every other appearance, the red light is on the driver's side: The second is the black Charger itself. When it's nudged off the road by the Capitol City patrol car it takes a hard knock to the driver's door that leaves a big dent. It comes to rest after a hard impact to the front passenger corner. It also has a very glossy paint finish. When Bo and Luke pick up the car from the scrapyard the driver's door has miraculously been repaired. The front end damage is worse on the driver's side and the car now has a distinctly matt finish that cannot be put down to dust.

CD, you're probably too young to remember a BBC (and later ITV) comedy show called 'The Goodies'. It was very popular when it aired through the '70s and early '80s (according to Wikipedia it was shown on syndication and PBS in the US around the same time), but sadly never gets re-runs. Anyway, the reason I bring them up is that there were three of them and they were famous for riding a trandem. Maybe you can try one of these if the tandem works out ok . Like you, I've never ridden a tandem, but I did ride a quadracycle (aka. quadricycle) in about 1980. They were briefly popular for hourly rental at some British seaside resorts around that time. The one I rode didn't have the kids' seats at the front, but was otherwise very similar to this one: Do you have enough bike parts to make one?.
