  1. Spock (assuming we're playing Rock-paper-scissors-lizard-Spock)
  2. Hazzard Rebels is pretty good, although if Boss had anything to do with the name I'm sure it be Hazzard Hog(g)s . Roger, I'm surprised you suggest Hazzard Pirates, or did you think that was a silly name for a sports team . Daisy seems to have a couple of Hazzard County High School pennants in her room. They're visible in 'Witness for the Persecution' just before she finds Boss in her bed, and again in 'The Runaway' when she lends Suzy Holmes some of her clothes. The picture below is from the latter:

  4. After doing the Petey Willis car to start this thread, it seemed silly not to do Cooter's car from 'Duke vs Duke'. They're both 1968 Chevelles and share a number of other similarities. Their hoods both have the Corvette L88 scoop, although it's smoothed in and painted the same color as the body on Cooter's car. They also both have the same wheels and vents on hood. They do differ though; Cooter's car doesn't have painted headlights and the roll cages look different. I haven't bothered with a top view because there isn't anything to see. Just like with Petey Willis's car, at least two different Chevelles were used. Most of the time they used a standard model (below left), but for several of the close-ups they used one with flared wheel arches (below right). The one with the flared wheel arches has full-height seats, whereas the standard one doesn't. The spacing of the stripes and placement of the number varied from car to car and from one side to the other. Due to its rarity, I wouldn't be surprised if the car with the flared wheel arches was repainted for 'Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke'. I don't know how many standard cars there were, but one of them gets a pretty good hit from Rosco's car at the end of the race, so it's probably less likely that that one was reused.

How about a funky Philadelphia instrumental from 1975? I only heard this track for the first time yesterday when it came on the radio, but I've listened to it on YouTube several time since then.
  6. Sorry, I couldn't resist : From the album 'Aperitif for Destruction'.
  7. I think Roger is the only one who's posted a song by this artist before: The unmistakable voice of the man they called 'Gentleman Jim'. He was posthumously elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1967.
  8. I've been skipping around episodes looking for screengrabs again, and spotted a few mistakes along the way. It's clear that the props department did an excellent job, but weren't always the best spellers. If you've been reading the Patrol Cars in Pictures thread you'll know that they constantly spelled "US Marshal" as "US Marshall", and both Rosco and Jesse often had letters added to their names when they appeared on-screen. I initially took a screengrab of the competetion poster from 'High Octane' with the thought that I may reproduce it. When I looked carefully I spotted "Fuel" spelled as "Feul" in rule #2 (had someone been watching too much 'Family Feud'?) and "Detonators" spelled as "Detinators" in rule #7. In 'The Meeting' the boys break into Cooter's through an upper window. When they drop down to the garage floor there's a plain white 4-door 1977/78 Dodge Monaco parked next to the office. Seconds later when we see the other side it's changed into a 1962 Chevy Impala 2-door. The test equipment next to the office also appears from nowhere. In 'Road Pirates' the hijacked driver is asked to identify the deputy who stopped him, and the blackboard is turned into an improvized height chart. I seem to recall that Rick is over six feet tall, so the six foot line is slightly low. The other divisions are supposed to be two inches apart, but are actually three to four inches apart (there's no way that Rick's waist is 4'8" off the ground). At the beginning of 'Hazzard Connection' there's a scene where Rosco and Enos stop the General and a car transporter. Watch the top right corner of the screen carefully and you'll see the microphone bobbing in and out of shot. Its shadow is also visible moving around to the right of Rosco.

All the cats can breathe a sigh of relief now that Curiousity has landed safely on Mars : Misfit - Curiosity Killed the Cat For the gamers amongst you, this is one of the tracks played by Vice City FM on GTA IV.
  11. Seeing as I've already had a song with this name by Frankie Goes to Hollywood I'll have to go with this one:
  12. A catchy, upbeat track from the 2007 album 'Life In Cartoon Motion'. Johnny Cash does of this song too.
  13. A long-overdue first appearance for Stevie Wonder in this thread.
  14. This version comes with an animated video .
  15. It must be about time for another post in this thread. I'll start with the 1977/78 State Police Dodge Monaco from 'Heiress Daisy Duke'. This is the only angle we see, and the badge is never visible. We've seen a black and white State Police car before, and there's at least one more still to come. I think that's season 6 finished, so if we skip on to season 7 we get to 'Happy Birthday, General Lee'. Most of the episode is set back in time when the Dukes first acquire the General. During the flashback sequence they use this 1976/76 Plymouth Fury in Hazzard colors. I think this is the first time since the first season that Hazzard has used one of the single headlight models. Just to emphasize the time difference, the older-style lights and speaker are used on the roof. Also from 'Happy Birthday, General Lee' is this 1975/76 Capitol City Plymouth Fury. The car itself looks like one of Sheriff Little's cars, right down to the A-pillar spotlights, while the badge is very similar to ones found on the State Police cars. The definition of "patrol car" has been stretched slightly over the course of this thread, and this vehicle did feature in a chase. I now present the studio security golf buggy from 'The Dukes in Hollywood'. From what I can find online this is a Taylor Dunn Tee Bird, although I haven't been able to pinpoint the exact model. You can see the rear of it in the second picture of this post in the Hazzard Square thread.
  16. How about a tune from The Queen/First Lady of Rockabilly?: Let's Have a Party - Wanda Jackson The song was first recorded a couple of years earlier by Elvis. For those of you who like their music a little heavier, I found a live version by Led Zeppelin while I was on YouTube.
  17. A couple of hundred yards south we get another look at the side of the Blue Barrel yard. I wasted a bit of time looking for the building with the odd-shaped roof vents above the Mustang II. It's now an open truck park, but the shadow of the vents is visible on Historic Aerials. I wonder whether the mud that covered Hazzard Square during this episode prevented much filming taking place on the backlot, because several incidental scenes were also filmed here. When the bad guys are watching Bo and Luke arrive in Springville their car is parked outside the yellow building mentioned above. Once again the yellow/gray wall of the German Auto Specialist can be seen on the "now" picture. This is the scene when Cooter and Enos first spot the Duke Boys driving the patrol car. It was filmed just north of the previous location. The tall structure behind the RV isn't there any more, and the road now has a much smoother surface, but the trees and buildings haven't changed much over the years. I'm not sure about the locations of these last pictures. The first is from when Bo and Luke first exit the Hazzard County Building in uniform and climb into the back seats of the patrol car. The long shot was filmed in Midwest Street, but the lighting suggests it was done at night. In the close-up of the passer-by (below left) there's a yellow building visible in the background that's not part of Hazzard Square. I wondered if this was the same yellow building seen above, but the window frames are a different color. The scene on the right is when Rosco, Enos, Jesse, Daisy and Cooter set off to look for Bo and Luke. The patrol car and Cooter's truck are parked outside a yellow building more similar to the one above (even though they were supposed to be leaving the County Building), but the lack of fencing and surrounding buildings mean it must have been somewhere else. I'm sorry to end on a sad note, but while I was researching this post I spotted that Norman Alden, aka. Springville's Chief Lacey, passed away about a week ago (27th July 2012) at the age of 87. His acting career started in 1957, and his last part was as recent as 2006. You can see his filmography on IMDb.
  18. I've just posted my version of the Springville patrol cars from 'Deputy Dukes' in Fan Art, and while the DVD was in I got a few more screengrabs. Of course we all know that Springville was just Hazzard Square under a layer of mud (I covered it back in post #8), but several other scenes were filmed away from the backlot in locations that only appeared in that episode. I posted pictures of Castaic Junction back in post #153 (Update: the mystery railroad I mentioned in that post was part of the Fillmore-Saugus line). I'm still searching for the gas station where Bo and Luke repair the ambulance, the road where the blue Torino makes its jump and the road that's blocked by the truck, but I have found one location that's used extensively in the episode. The location I found is Springbrook Avenue in Santa Clarita (click here to see it in Google Maps). Springbrook Avenue is a straight road with industrial units on both sides. There aren't many places that fit that description around Dukes filming locations that I already knew about, so when I first saw it on Google Maps I thought it might be a possibility, but at the time I couldn't find any of the buildings I was looking for to confirm my suspicions (Google only added their Street View of this area in December 2011). When I re-watched the episode I spotted a container in one of the yards with "Blue Barrel" on the side. A quick Google told me that Blue Barrel Waste Management is still in business and based in Santa Clarita. Their premises are located on Springbrook Avenue, although the property looks a bit different today. In fact, because of the changes I've decided to do side-by-side "then and now" pictures for most of the screengrabs. This sign didn't look like a prop, but when I Googled "German Auto Center" I got directed to a business in San Diego. When I started looking on Springbrook Avenue I found the building with the arched window on the corner of Drayton Street, and it's still home to a German Auto Specialist. It seems a little odd that the sign was so clearly displayed, yet the forecourt was dressed with a few American cars for filming. Some shots reveal that there are plenty of VWs and an Audi behind them. If you look on Street View you'll see that there are still several VWs, Porsches and Mercedes parked around it. Taken from the same place as the previous picture, this is the view down Drayton Street toward Railroad Avenue. This is the view looking south on Springbrook Avenue. On the left of the "now" picture you can see the distinctive yellow/gray painted wall of the German Auto Specialist. Remember the yellow building under the trees on the right of the "then" picture - I'll come back to it below.
  19. Apparently Michael Annett had similar decals on his car for the Nationwide race at Iowa Speedway last night. I only saw the second half of the race, but don't remember the commentators mentioning it.
  20. Welcome back BoJames, the place hasn't been the same without you .
  21. Most of the patrol cars in SATB were Pontiacs.

I found this in under 30 seconds on Google:

    Rosco's Patrol Car

Here's Springville County's 1973 Dodge Polaras from 'Deputy Dukes'. They look very similar to NYPD cars of the time, so may either have been ex-NYPD cars or used as NYPD cars in another TV show/movie (I couldn't find anything obvious on imcdb.org). Both cars were a bit tatty, with some red marks on one and a couple of white patches on the other. One also had a broken rear side marker. I have tidied them up. For some reason one car had white wheels while the other had blue, and both seem to have late '60s Plymouth "dog dish" hubcaps.
  23. Here's one I spotted earlier. During the California episodes of season 1 the sign outside the Hazzard County Building lists "Axtell Bail Bonds" (this screengrab in from 'The Big Heist'). For all eight of those episodes the art director was Kirk Axtell. From season 2 onward the name was replaced with "Hogg Bail Bonds". This is from a recent post in the Signs of Hazzard thread. In 'Coy vs. Vance' the motorcycle stuntwomen are called "The Famous Flying Baxley Sisters". Paul, Craig and Gary Baxley did a lot of the stunts on Dukes. I've mentioned the last two in Hazzard Square and The Official Dukes of Hazzard Trivia Thread respectively, but I thought I'd list them here for completeness. From season 3 onward there's a store in Hazzard Square called "Skipper Ward Surplus". Skip Ward was associate producer on many episodes of Dukes. In 'How to Succeed in Hazzard' the name of the champagne that Dewey Hogg gets tricked with is "Chateau Neuf de Picard 1970". Paul Picard was executive producer on over half of the episodes of Dukes.
  24. Congratulations Carlos. As well as being a big Dukes fan, Carlos is also restoring a 1970 Dodge: Bien hecho Carlos. Un fuerte abrazo desde Irlanda.
