I can't see anything in the 2017 rule changes about the races being segmented. Other than the title sponsor, the following changes are listed on Wikipedia: There have been a few changes during the off-season. In a few races, teams will have less sets of tires then usual. The following races will have less sets of tires: Daytona (500), Phoenix, Fontana, and Martinsville (Spring) and Bristol, Kansas, Kentucky, Chicagoland, and Homestead (Fall). The following races will have extra sets of tires: Talladega, Sonoma, Daytona (July), New Hampshire, Watkins Glen, and Darlington. Now teams must start the race with the sames tires as they used in qualifying. If a team is caught changing tires before the races, they will suffer a penalty. The rear spoiler will be reduced from 3.5 inches to 2.5 inches for all races except Daytona and Talladega. The rear spoilers will remain 3.5 inches for the restrictor plate races. For restrictor plate races, the restrictor plates will be reduced by 1/64 of an inch to 7/8 of an inch. Due to the crash that Austin Dillon suffered in the 2015 Coke Zero 400 and due to the airborne crashes in the 2016 GEICO 500, a roof hatch escape has been made mandatory for races at Daytona and Talladega. A couple of sites suggest that the Cup series should introduce the caution clock which started in last year's Truck series. I don't watch the Truck series, but I found a lot of negative comments about it. The beyondtheflag.com website seemed more positive: "Not only will the new caution clock finally do away with run away leaders, something that has plagued the sport for decades now, it will also bunch up the 36-truck field to keep things interesting and make sure that each race ends with a 25-30 lap shootout to the finish." To me, if one driver is faster than the others, they should win. If that makes for boring racing, then the cars should be made more even. Bunching up the field at regular intervals is just too artificial for me. If people only want "a 25-30 lap shootout to the finish", just makes the races 25-30 laps long and save everyone a load of tires and gas!

Speaking of Russians in Hazzard, I was reminded of the film below. It's an anti-Communist piece of propaganda from 1962 (only 21 years before 'Comrade Duke') called 'Red Nightmare'. According to the description, "Jerry 'wakes up' in a communist-controlled town, where he's the only American left." Y'all may recognize the "communist-controlled town"!

That video doesn't work for me - possibly a regional thing! Here's a video featuring Fatboy Slim when he was still known as Norman Cook. FYI - all British people don't dance like this . Happy Hour - The Housemartins

carry on ('Carry On Camping' is probably the best known of the Carry On series of movies which were made in Britain between 1958 and 1992)

My vote is for the MediaWiki option. I think that making the wiki a separate resource would work better (hazzardnet.com/wiki or similar). If you can't make the single sign-on work, we can always use the same username and password that we have on the forum. Personally, I'm not that bothered if it looks like the rest of the site - most wiki-style sites I read just look like Wikipedia, but HazzardNet customizations are very welcome. It would probably be best to initially restrict editing access to Veterans, at least until the templates and main pages are in place. After that, it could be opened up. We'll have to discuss the rough form of the pages when the great opening gets nearer. For the episode pages, I'd suggest: Brief plot (a couple of lines), Detailed plot (a couple of paragraphs), Cast/Crew, Trivia, Goofs, Quotes and Locations. Did I miss anything? We can have a page for each actor and character that requires one, and pages for important places like the Boar's Nest, Duke Farm etc.

I'm not sure if I've tried the chat room since the software upgrade, but there's definitely a "Chat" option on the "Forums" tab of the menu bar. I attended a couple of Christmas parties in the past, and we even had a chat while we all watched the same episode of Dukes on DVD, although different regions seemed to play at different speeds, so we were a little out-of-sync by the end. I can't remember which episode we watched, but I'm sure one of the threads still has the discussion that decided it.

You have to ask to join the Veteran's group, so you might as well PM now. Those criteria I posted were only arbitrary proposals - they're not set in stone. -

The old forum software let you edit your posts for 10 minutes. I'm guessing that the new software is doing something similar. There are no restrictions once you become a Veteran, but I think you can see the sense in not making this privilege available until a member has proved themselves. If the planned Wiki site gets off the ground, I think Mufn was only going to let Veterans edit it, at least to begin with, so you should ask about becoming one. -

I get an "Edit" button next to the "Quote" button, but I think that's only available to the Veteran's group. The Veteran's group was created after the last major forum update. It was originally suggested that "To join this group, you will have to meet certain criteria, such as being a member for over 2 years or having more than 100 posts." You certainly qualify on the longevity side, and are not far off in the number of posts. You have to opt-in to the group, so I'd suggest you PM Meadowmufn to state your case for becoming a Veteran. -
I didn't know the version by The Angels, Susan. That's why I like this thread - I get to hear new stuff. It turns out that I also have a cover version by another English band called Space. That one's from the late '90s. Like Space, this band is also from Liverpool (y'all may remember a well-known '60s band from Liverpool as well ). A Cool Place - Lightning Seeds

It's about time someone revived this thread - thanks, Susan. Later covered by the Fun Lovin' Criminals, here's the original from 1976. Couldn't Get It Right - Climax Blues Band

Here's the little Dutch girl from the 1947 version of 'Miracle on 34th Street' (one of my "must watch" Christmas movies):

Sorry Mufn, I've had quite a busy end of December, and completely forgot your birthday this year. Belated best wishes.

I won't have much time until about mid-January, but after that, I'm happy to lend a hand.

I think I know the Knight Rider site that you mean, Roth. I worked my way through it while I was watching my box set. The filming locations have been fairly well covered by myself and others. There are episode guides to the first two seasons on the home page - I updated the first season and drafted the second, although that was a couple of years ago now. I even did the screengrabs for most of season 3, but haven't written much text to go with them yet. Maybe that's a project for the new year! These already include summaries and trivia, but I see no reason why they couldn't be expanded to include mistakes (we've already got seven pages of them here) and quotes (already scattered through the cast/characters section of the forum). They could also list the cast and crew. An alternative would be to start a new forum thread for episodes guides split into sub-threads for each season. Another way to go would be a Wiki-style extension to HNet. There's one for "CHiPs" (chips-tv.com/wiki), to which I've added many pages, summaries, cast/crew lists, quotes, trivia, screengrabs and locations. The advantage to this is that each episode can have a page with all the information you wanted, and each page can be edited and added to by anyone with a basic knowledge of the Wiki mark-up language. You can also add linked pages for characters, actors, places (e.g. the Duke Farm, the Boar's Nest etc.) and so on. It would almost certainly be to most work for Meadowmufn to set up, but ultimately give the best end result when we've all contributed (IMHO).

Welcome to HNet, CornishBelle. I'm originally from the southwest of England myself, but now live in Ireland.

I must dig out 'The Great Santa Clause Chase'. In fact, I must make time to watch the rest of Dukes as I've neglected them lately. There's a New Year's resolution for you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone on HazzardNet .
