I've heard of jo jo potatoes. We Californians just call them potato wedges. LOL.

Merry Christmas, everyone! We're expecting snow this weekend. Might not arrive in time for a white Christmas, but it might get here Christmas night/Sunday morning! We have a new pup this year (Troy passed last November). We got her from a rescue in Texas last June and she just turned about 1 year old last month. We're really looking forward to her first Christmas and to see how she reacts to the snow. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a prosperous and happy new year.

Thanks. I miss you guys too. I've been super busy, but I'm currently on leave for the rest of the year due to work stress. I think you can count on two fingers how many years in the past decade or so I haven't had a surgery or a medical procedure of some type. Fortunately, aside from stress and fatigue, I'm doing pretty well right now and I'm looking forward to Christmas and my birthday. All the presents have been bought and wrapped. The house is decorated, the tree is up. The nog is chilling in the fridge (and we have a little rum in the pantry to mix in... ). I'm ready!

Glad to hear you're recovering @HossC. Gallbladder issues run in my family. My paternal grandmother, dad, and sister have all had theirs out and doctors are monitoring my nephew's, which will probably have to be removed eventually. I've had my own scares and testing for the same, but so far no surgery. I've had five other surgeries in the last 13 years though, so I completely understand that soreness and problems with coughing. Take care of yourself.

Thanks. I know I haven't been on HNet a lot lately, but I do check in from time to time and I'm happy to see folks still here sharing their love for the show here.

I updated the main site today and spent some time optimizing so, hopefully, the site loads faster. As I have time, I'll likely be going through and updating, adding, and deleting old stuff. As with the forums, if you run across any issues, please let me know.

Just upgraded the forum software. As usual, if you see any issues, let me know.

It's crazy around here and where my sister's family is retiring in Idaho. They got in at the right time. The week after they bought their new home, prices went up $15,000 and a month later, they were $50,000 more!! We were going to move too, but that'll be too rich for our blood by the time we're ready. But the good news is that our house is worth almost 2x what we paid for it 17 years ago.

Just me and hubby by ourselves this year. We can't go over to my sister's this year like we usually do. Our dog passed away last month, so it's been hard. We haven't been able to find another dog. Competition for rescue dogs is very fierce around here and every dog we've applied for is pretty much gone before they even get to our application. We're not really in the Christmas mood this year.

I'm not a huge fan of change either and, believe me, I just about had a mini-coronary when I realized I'd have to do the theme from scratch. But, I think it turned out better (and easier) than last time. I like the mid-blue too. I wanted to break it up a little more than just orange and dark blue.
-
Yeah, those are the 2 things I haven't been able to figure out yet, but I'm working on it.
-
Ok, the forum software has been updated. I had to redo the theme because the old theme was so out of date that it broke. If you see any issues with colors which makes it hard to read text, please comment here and be as specific as possible. I'll try to fix them if possible.

It's that time again.... A bunch of updates have stacked up, so I will likely be bringing the forums down to update this Saturday morning, 10/17.

Just to follow up... I got the final pathology report from my procedure. It says "no neoplasm identified". I'm pretty sure that means I'm still cancer free. Yay! I have a follow up with my doc on the 23rd to go over everything. I have an echocardiogram coming up on Monday and I think after that, hopefully, that should be the last of the medical tests/procedures for the rest of the year.

Welcome, Skipper! Nice to have you aboard. Love the avatar. I used to watch Gilligan's Island a lot and, next to the Professor, the Skipper was my favorite character. -
Thanks. My oncologist is cautiously optimistic that I'm still cancer free.
-
I probably won't be tested until mid-August (my procedure's on the 20th). I'll let you know how it goes, though.

I'm sorry to hear your family has COVID-19, Roger. I've known a few others who've had it and they say that about a few days to a week in, you start to feel like you're getting better and then it just slams you. I hope you and your family get over it real soon. Just about everyone in my family is at high risk due to diabetes and autoimmune diseases, so none of us have seen each other in months except through photos and phone calls. I have a procedure coming up next month to check if I'm still cancer free, so I have to get COVID-19 tested several days before the procedure.

I remember when people used to give the benefit of the doubt, forgive someone's mistakes, and gave second chances. I sometimes give 5 or 6 chances, against my better judgement. I am not a fan of cancel culture. I call it The Church of the Perpetually Outraged. That's a difficult way to go through life. I just don't have the energy for it.
-
Oh, it's worse than that. I make them watch "My Mother The Car".

I have some very strong political opinions myself, but I prefer my entertainment and fun to be untainted by the negativity and bickering that sometimes surrounds politics. I want everyone to feel welcome here and have fun.

The FBI put out a statement today after investigating. From the evidence (photos/video) they've compiled, turns out, the "noose" has been there since at least October 2019 and was actually a garage door pull. https://www.oregonlive.com/sports/2020/06/noose-found-in-bubba-wallaces-garage-was-there-since-2019-feds-say.html

An interesting little "tour" of one of the areas they used to film and some thoughts from John...

I was listening to police band the night of my last post, when there was supposed to be even a larger crowd down the street. Seems some kid tried to sell a stolen gun to the security guard at the weed shop down the street. He said he wanted to kill a cop and get into a shoot out with them. The guard called the cops and they chased him down the main drag. They stopped him and recovered the gun without incident. Guess the kid really didn't want that after all. I forgot how interesting it was listening to police band. Last time I did that for an entire evening was back around when Dukes was still originally airing.
