We've been recording Beverly Hillbillies lately and got lucky yesterday when they aired the very first episode. The writing was fantastic. It seems like the older the episode was the funnier it was and the first is hilarious. They start out with them driving into Beverly Hills for the first time and then they back up (the truck then literally backs up) to show the viewer how they ended up leaving their shack.
This reminds me of a quote by Henry Ford. I'm not sure if it's true or not but I've heard it several times. Back then he didn't want to paint new cars different colors so he said "They can have one in any color they'd like as long as it's black."
I met Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin at a high school basketball playoff game last night. His son was playing in it. As a lifelong Steeler fan it was pretty cool especially since I wasn't expecting it.
There was a cartoon when I was a kid called Go Go Gophers and one of them had the catch phrase "What him say? What him say?" I feel like that gopher a lot.
See, you folks thought that I was just a low tech old redneck who couldn't learn anything about this new language but I just showed all of you that I'm better at it than anybody.
When I see some of the abbreviations these kids use on their devices I think that many words are going to change permanently. Languages and words are constantly evolving but we're going to have a flood of words being replaced with other ones. A hundred years from now English will be much diff. (pun intended)
Thanks for the recommendation. We went to see the new Jumanji and want to see Rampage when it comes out. Last week I checked the listings and didn't see anything I was interested in but the commercial on TV for Death Wish looked good.
I can understand how you feel but it might as well be in a different country to me. Canada is in my back yard. On Interstate 90 in the eastern end of my county you can see it across Lake Erie but Louisiana is 1,000 miles away.
Thanks Hoss. I just thought it would be good to put this here since there are fewer and fewer Dukes gatherings lately. I wish this thing wasn't a thousand miles away because I'd love to go if it was closer. I see the property is 58 acres which is a coincidence since Bo is turning 58. As I said I'll turn 58 just 7 days after that. I wonder if I should start an extravaganza when I jump my dirt bike over that General Lee toy. How much do you think I should charge for admission?
Hey Hoss, if it's not much trouble could you start a thread on "DukesFest and Other Events" with all this info? Thanks....and you're right about the website name...woops!
I don't use it either but the last couple of years I have thought about joining just to connect with more Dukes fans. As long as HazzardNet is around I probably never will though.
Thanks for the NASCAR update and as always it's great to hear from you. Wow! I hadn't heard that about John Schneider. He'll be 58 on April 8 and I will turn 58 just 7 days after that. I can't afford to jump in a General Lee so I might jump over one. I'm considering hopping on my Yamaha dirt bike and jumping over one of my toy General Lees just so I can act like a Duke boy too.
I know an elderly lady who just started using Facebook and wasn't very good at it. When she announced the death of someone she posted LOL at the end. Needless to say she got a lot of concerned responses. She then explained that she thought it meant Lots Of Love.
Who remembers that hilarious commercial from a couple years ago with the old ladies "That's not how it works. That's not how any of this works!" when one unfriended the other? The funny thing is that when I saw it I didn't know what "posting something to the wall" meant. When it was explained to me it was even funnier.
