  2. Thanks Hoss. Both of these pictures put smiles on my face.
  3. Thanks Garrett. Boss and my friend were around the same age. Good luck in our second fantasy baseball draft tonight!
  4. dog ("ruff ruff!")
  5. Thanks Hoss. I shouldn't be surprised. 95% of the time when you look up any collectable it is worth less than you had hoped for.
  6. Wow! Thanks Hoss. I see they mentioned Sorrell in this article. When the last man walked on the Moon (1974 maybe) everybody thought we'd have a small village there by 2000 but no country has even sent a single person there since then. We still talk about sending a human to Mars but can't even get back to the Moon. Did the current value of this set pop up?
  7. I inherited some astronomy items from a professor friend of mine who passed away. One of those items was a book with some records and they are in perfect shape. They are from 1969 when the first man walked on the Moon. I was 9 years old and got to stay up last to watch it. I remember it well. I got a big smile on my face when I saw who the narrator is. You guessed it. Of course we all know that Sorrell was quite a talented and well respected person around Hollywood so after the huge surprise wore off and I thought about it I realized I shouldn't have been too surprised considering how multi-talented he was. What a collectors item!. Dukes and astronomy are huge parts of my life and to be given this gift of a keepsake that combines them is something I am thankful for. Now if I can just find a record player.

  9. We're also in the world's best fantasy NASCAR league.

  11. 8 deer replaced the turkeys this evening. It hit 70 degrees so I was sitting on the deck and saw them coming through the trees before walking into the garden so I froze perfectly still and they slowly walked toward me, grazing along the way and eventually got real close to me and stayed there for about a half hour. When they're that close you have to move in super slow motion if you want to scratch your face. We're supposed to get snow this weekend so the March roller coaster rolls on. In fact, I hear thunder now.

  13. Hmmm, bit embarressed here. Is this a plant?
  14. Was it buttermilk?
  15. I saw a flock of wild turkeys this evening back in the garden. It's been a long time since I've seen a whole flock.....all winter I think. I have seen tracks of a flock in the snow. Sunday we saw a bald eagle. That's not really rare anymore but the cool thing is that it was carrying something. Couldn't tell what it was, small red squirrel maybe.

  17. Ouch....sorry to hear that.

  19. Very true. Different words mean different things to different people. My wife doesn't consider me to be a redneck but I do. Think about that. The two people in the world who know me the best can't even agree on what I am. But since I know me better than she knows me I'll win that debate....I'M A REDNECK!
  20. Didn't know that. Thanks for telling us Hoss.
  21. wife ( I'd better edit this....mine's awesome but not every man is so lucky)
  22. Since I don't really live in the Appalachian Mountains I don't know if I would have been labeled an Appalacian American had it caught on. It's pretty weird how some things catch on and others don't. I guess I would have just considered myself to be a redneck if Appalachian American wouldn't have applied. I never have called myself a hillbilly that often. One of my favorite songs is Charlie Daniels "What this world needs is a few more Rednecks". I sure do wish Rosco would have caught him in his speed trap.
  23. Okay, I'm a bit embarressed to admit it but I recorded it and watched it last night. The last time I saw it was in the theater. Even then it was reluctantly. At the time it had been out for quite a few weeks and was likely ending its run and I just couldn't resist seeing the General Lee on the big screen. It is still as stupid as I remember it but there was some highlights, like the General Lee and briefly hearing Waylon's voice. And there were some good laughs. I think my favorite was "We prefer to be called Applachian Americans". I'll probably never see it again and I wish I could compliment it more but it was just bad.....but then again it is unfair to compare it with the original. Everything in the history of movie and TV entertainment is bad by comparison. If I wasn't comparing it to the original I would just call it okay...even better if the language wasn't so bad.
  24. Yesterday the Dukes movie (with Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson) was on twice. Hmmm, I think it was IFC....not sure what that stands for. I'm not a fan of the movie but it was still nice to scroll down through the guide channel and see DUKES OF HAZZARD. Maybe someday the series will come back. If they can run the Dukes movie then why not the series? There are only about a trillion worse things on TV.
