  1. There are some good ones out there but there are less and less of them. Every generation in the United States has gotten softer for awhile now and we are treading into dangerous waters now that we have so many people who think that everything should be handed to them. Put them on the farm for awhile. Uncle Jesse will set them straight.
  2. I think you are right!
  3. Cool but beautiful day today and the next two are going to be even better. I put a winter coat on to take the Ninja out but I think a jacket will be enough tomorrow. The dirt track opens tomorrow (Fri) for the first race of the year and the dirt bike track opens for racing Saturday. I won't take the Ninja Friday night because it will be pretty cold coming home at midnight and it's a heavy deer area coming home...always dangerous in the dark. I am taking it to the dirt bike track though, where it will stick out in the crowd pretty well.

  13. Interesting Hoss. Thanks for sharing it. The next county over from me has "The Valley that Changed the World". It is where Drake's Well is located, the first oil well in the world and was drilled in 1859. I wonder what kind of engine ethanol powered in 1826. I guess the only thing it could have been is steam.
  14. That was interesting. Thanks for sharing it. It sounds like the suspect was making no connection to the show but the cops and/or reporters were. I suspect someone involved in this is a fan of the show if they gave Dukes a mention.
  15. So sad to hear another one is gone. Back when the show was airing I never would have imagined that I'd be mourning so many people who were part of it but sadly the list has gotten long. Thanks for informing us Skipper.
  16. I used to think that Jesse Duke was the inventor of ethanol. After all, in the 1979 Georgia episode "High Octane" Jesse ran straight ethanol (aka moonshine) in Black Tillie. But today I saw an episode of Beverly Hillbillies where Grannie started an ambulance service and Jed asked her why Duke, the hound dog, had a container of XXX tied onto his collar. (love the name Duke). Of course it was for medicinal purposes but Grannie also said she could put it in the ambulance if it ran out of gas. That was filmed in 1968 so I thought to myself: I guess Grannie invented ethanol. Upon further thought I realized that 1979 wasn't the first time Jesse put moonshine in the tank. He told a story about doing it back in the old days, which would have been way before 1968. In fact, it would have been in the era of prohibition. So, Jesse still is the inventor of ethanol. Moonshine was (and is) way more expensive than gasoline so I would suspect that the first person who actually tested it tried it in a small engine first. But who knows, maybe it was a desperate moonshiner who needed to get away in their "runner".
  17. LOL You can edit something if you catch it soon enough. Maybe Hoss will tell us what the time frame is.

  21. There are definitely not any scenes in 7 years where Jesse was sipping shine while reading the Bible.....and no scenes where Enos was drinking buttermilk while reading the Bible. LOL

  23. Interesting. Does Disney still own the property where some of the rural scenes were filmed? Of the 3 places you listed which one was used more?
  24. Great to have you Danny. Tell us more about your love of Dukes. How long you been a fan? Do you have Dukes toys, DVDs, autographs, etc.? Met any of the stars? Have a favorite character, episode, season, scene? Tell us everything.
  25. I agree about it being nasty. The strange thing is that the original was just the opposite of nasty and it is not permitted to be on the air and the movie version is on all the time. That's some pretty twisted logic. I should add that the Georgia episodes had some PG-13 stuff in there but adjustments were made to appeal to a wider audience. And those adjustments helped to make Dukes the greatest show in TV history.
