You might be a redneck if: 1. You finance a mobile home 2. You wear high topped steel toed boots with shorts (my husband has) 3. Every redneck joke that Jeff Foxworhty tells either describes you, your closest friends or your relatives 4. You furnished your entire home with random pieces of furniture that you found sitting on the curb side with a "free" sign attached to it 5. You use blankets, towels, sheets, etc. for curtains

Exactly. That's what I am saying.

Anyone dare to tell their most embarrassing moments or experiences? I'll be brave enough to share mine. It's a little gross so be warned! I was 12 1/2 yrs. old. It was the 1st day of the school year and I was starting the 7th grade. I would soon find out that it was to be the first day of another event for me as well. I wore white pants to school. At about 12:30pm, I went to the bathroom. There, I discovered that I had started my very 1st menstral cycle at least two hours prior to that! No need for the graphic details, I'm sure you get the picture! How about the rest of you? Are any of you courageous enough to share any of your most awkward moments?

Here's a story I thought would be fun to share. The other day I was driving down the road and during my journey I passed an Amish man in his horse and buggy. This incident brought back a memory. Several years ago(maybe seven or eight) I worked at a walmart store for a couple of years. During that time there was an Amish guy named Andy who also worked there. Andy was hired around the same time as I was. He did not work in the same department as I did, but I seen him a lot because he worked maintenance and stock which pretty much ment he went all over the store where ever he was needed. Andy was a very friendly person and he would talk to anyone about just about anything. Well one day, out of pure curiousity, I was asking Andy about the Amish way of life; their customs, beliefs, that kind of stuff. He was happy to talk about it and answer all my questions. Anyway, he told me that when a child is born into an Amish family that they are not officially Amish at birth. Apparently, when the child reaches an age some where between their late teens and early 20's(exact age to be decided within the family) it is up to them to make a consciouse decision on their own to either remain Amish or not. In order to make this decision, they are to leave the Amish community for one year during which they are to experience the world. At the end of that year they may either go back to their Amish community and become members of their church and officially be Amish or they can decide that the Amish lifestyle and beliefs are not for them and go their own way. Reguardless if they decide to remain Amish or not, they may do anything the rest of might do during their year to experience the world. During that time, they can drive cars, use a computer, watch tv; use or experience any modern convenience or technology that they wish. Well, I asked Andy what all he had done during his year to experience the world and if he had watched any tv and if so, what shows had he watched. Andy said he had watched tv during that time. He said he watched a lot of different shows but he couldn't tell me what they all were except for one called the dukes of hazzard which he said was the only one he could recall because it was the only one "worth rememberin"!

Besides DOH I watch: The Jeff Foxworhty Show All My Children One Life to Live Little House on the Prairie MacGuyver Star Trek (original version only, I just like the dicussions between Spock & McCoy) 7th Heaven Yes Dear I used to watch Smallville untill Jonathon Kent died. DOH and the 1st 3 shows on the list are the only shows I watch regularly. The others I watch when I feel like it. I don't like to watch tv a lot.

I got one for ya. To some people this might sound gross, but it taste really good. Peel and dice some potatoes and then fry them in a large, deep skillet. Make sure there is plenty of room left in the pan to add stuff. Get at least one can each of the following: cream of mushroom soup vegetable beef soup (you may or may not need more than one can, it depends on how many potatoes you used. You should have equal amounts of everything) one or more packages of eckeridge sausage or any worthy equivalent Cut up the eckeridge sausage into small pieces Add the sausage and the soups to the pan of potatoes. Sprinkle in some salt, pepper and garlic salt according to taste. Thoroughly mix everything together and heat till everything is hot throughout. An older member of my family came up with this when I was a kid and it was really good. I remember when we used to mention making it to friends and neighbors a lot of them said it sounded awful. But then we would invite them over and let them try some (without telling them what it was) and most of them liked it a lot. They'd go back for 2nd and 3rd helpings and want to know how to make it. Point being, please try it before you judge it. 10; 4, I'm gone!

You know your car is old when: You think your car used to be red, but now the entire thing is brown because it's all rust. You try to get replace a part on it but all the auto part store and even all the junk yards tell you that they don't have it and no one does because it doesn't exist anymore. You have duct tape holding up your driver side mirror All these problems were not on the same car but I had different cars which each of these problems. The last one with the duct tape is a '96 corsica and I'm still driving it.

This is all good stuff. A lot of it describes me. I have looked for bars named "The Boars Nest" I did watch Smallville just for John and it was the only reason I watched the show. I was very upset when his character died and I don't watch Smallville any more. My computer desktop wallpaper is DOH theme. I often yell yeehaw while driving. I don't have an answering machine but the voice mail message on my cell phone is Cooter's famous CB line, slightly modified with a few other DOH quotes mixed in, it's ("Breaker one, breaker one. Might be crazy but I ain't dumb. No one's home on the Hazzardnet. Leave a message and I'll call you back. I'm gone!") I didn't name any of my kids Bo, Luke or Daisy, but my 4yr. old son has blond, curly/wavy hair kind of like John's so I dressed him up as Bo Duke for Halloween. I didn't buy any department store costume either, I searched for the most authentic looking clothes I could find him. Currently I live in a trailer but my husband and I are planning to buy a bigger house in a few years and I fully intend to have a room that is decorated with nothing but DOH posters/pictures and DOH merchandise. The last thing I watch before I go to sleep at night is DOH. I have drove around looking for '69 chargers particularly any that someone may want to get rid of cheap so I can buy it and fix it up like a General Lee. I have quoted Rosco and vaiouse other characters on the shoew whenever it suits me.

I have 2 children who are still both very young (ages 4 and 5). Therefore, they both still say a lot of cute/funny things. However, they are both boys and are very competitve with each other so they fight a lot and say a lot of things that are not cute or funny as well. Some of the cute/funny things my 4yr. old has said: One day I said to him, "What are you doing dear?" He replied, "I am not a deer, I am a boy!" "Waaaa, mmmooommmyyy, I broke my face" This was after tripping and wacking his face on a chair. Not to worry, he just got a little bruise out of the deal and he totally forgot about it not 5 minutes afterward. The way he pronounces some words: cowboy is cow'd'boy macaroni is mac'n'onie Madagascar(the movie) is Madanascar Finally, lately he has been in the habit of saying, "We will see about that!" Some cute/funny things my 5yr. old has said: "When I grow up I'm going to get me a wife and some kids so I can have a family. Mom, what store do you get wives in?" "I can't wait untill I'm 10 because then I'll be old and all grown up." "When I grow up, I'll have lots of money, maybe even $100." Yes this is the typical child who is obscessed with growing up. I think it is cute to hear how the world works from the view point of a child. Things that both my children say that are not so cute. "Mom, he took the toy I was playing with." "He's lieing, I didn't do it!" "Mom, he's not sharing" "That's mine!" "No, it's mine!" "Waaaa, mom, make him give it back!"

Ummm.... Lets see, there are a lot of foods I don't like, but I'll eat them if I have to. I will just list the things I won't eat even if I was starving to death! liver hearts kidneys No internal organs of any kind. Actually, the only one of those I have ever had is liver. I have only tried that because my mom served it to me when I was a little kid and I did not know what a liver was. I really did not like the flavor anyway. I have never tried hearts, kidneys or any other internal organ and never will. Just the thought grosses me out. I am very squemish about some things. The same is true for the following lists of foods. I have not actually tried them, however, the thought of them is just to gross. fish eggs (caviar, i don't care if rich people do eat it!) snails (escargo, again don't care if rich people eat it!) pigs feet turtle crawdads frog legs Or any type of anphibian, reptile or lizzard, yuck! I also will not eat spinache or beef tongue. I have eaten these before and definitely do not like them. Again, I only tried tongue in the first place because I was little and did not realize what I was eating. I will not ever even try any other kind of tongue, gross. Finally, I don't know why, but I can not stand the flavor of grapefruit or pineapple.

I see that a lot of people are disapointed that Tom was drinking and driving. I undertand this, it is disapointing. However, I believe that most of us are not as upset about Tom's DUI charge as we are about what the charge does for Tom's image, or more accurately what it does for the image we have of Tom. What I mean is, no one should drink and drive, but we would find it less upsetting if anyone other than one of the "Duke boys" had been caught doing it. For example, if Steven Segal or some other celebrity had been charged with DUI, sure there would be talk about it but there probably wouldn't be a big deal made of it. A lot of people, myself included, respect the Dukes and look up to them. What's not to respect? They have good moral character, integrity, respect for themselves and others; and they always do the right thing. Of course we look up to them and respect them. We all love Tom as Luke Duke. We all respect Tom as Luke Duke. In many ways, rather we realize it or not, rather we mean to or not, we often see and think of Tom as we would Luke. However, we need to remember that Tom is Tom and Luke is a character that he played. No one is perfect, not even Tom and we can't expect him to be perfect just because he's Luke. He made a mistake, and that's all. It should not be blown out of porportion just because it was Tom.

To all who dislike the movie version...
hazzard chic replied to Capt_Redneck's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
FYI, this does not prove anything either for or against the '05 movie. Reason being is that you got these voting totals off a web site. The problem with that is that one person could log onto different computers and vote more than once. In fact, if the web site does not use tracking cookies, the same person could vote more than once on the same computer. Even if the web site does use tracking cookies, one person could still vote more than once on the same computer if they know how to clear off their cookies each time they log off their computer. I am not saying that this is definitely the case, I'm just saying that it could, and in situations like this, often does happen. Therefore, since this is a voting pole on a web site, it does not prove anything one way or the other because there is no way to know how accurate it is or isn't. -
You know you watch too much Dukes of Hazzard when...
hazzard chic replied to Jamanda's topic in General Discussion
You know you watch to much DOH when: 1. Your 4yr. old sings "just good 'ol boys, never meanig no harm..." to the tune of air guitar. 2. You get frusrated with your kids and holler at them to settle down or you will "cuff and stuff" them. 3. You spend over $100 in order to get authentic looking clothes for your 4yr. old boy, who happens to have blond, curly hair, just so you can dress him like Bo Duke for Halloween, and get upset when someone doesn't realize who he is supposed to be. 4. You speed down back roads in your car while yelling yeeehaaa! 5. You create a number of free Email addresses for yourself just for the purpose of recieving DOH related info. and use names like hazzard girl, Daisy Duke, ect. for all of them. 6. You can't go to sleep at night untill you have watched an episode of the Dukes. 7. Your friends do something wrong and you reply with "I'm going to tell your Uncle Jessie on ya all" even if they don't have an Uncle Jessie. 8. You feel strongly that there should be a sequel to the DOH starring all surviving original cast members in which John Schneider, Tom Wopat and Cathy Bach sill play Bo, Luke and Daisy, only now they are grown, married and have teenage children who are following in their footsteps. They should still live in Hazzard and Daisy should finally be married to Enos. 9. Your passwords for most everything are names of characters from DOH. 10. Your ultimate dream car is a General Lee. 11. You believe all auto repairs can be bone with a screwdriver. 12. The only thing on your 'Must do before I die' list is make it to Dukefest at least once by any means neccessary! -
I would have to agree that John still looks hot. I seen in person in Metropolis, IL last year. (unfortunately I was not able to make it through his line for an autograph) Anyway, I have to say, he looks even hotter in person than he does on tv.
-
I definitely like Bo the best. He is so sweet and sensative and damm sexy too!
-
John was born in 1960. The reason for the confusion is because back in 1978 when John auditioned for the part of Bo Duke, he was only 18 and they wanted someone older. Therefore, John lied and said he was 24. John mentions this in the commentary to "One Armed Bandits" episode in season 1 of the DOH dvd sets. If he was 18 in '78 then he had to have been born in 1960. The difference between 24 and 18 is 6. The number of years between 1954 and 1960 is also 6. Therefore you can easily see where the confusion comes from and why both years have been listed as his birth year.

To Brian Coaltrain, I love trying out different restaurants from time to time. Thanks for your recomendations. I will probably check them out some time. To iloveschneider. thanks for your post. I found it very encouraging. It is nice to know that there is someone out there that knows how I feel and understands my frustration! Dixie
