  1. That great! I was pretty sure it would happen but always good to have confirmation. I wonder who (of the cast, crew, etc) will be there in '07? Probably too early to tell entirely, but if I remember rightly I do think the general consensus for '06 was that it was a blast! Hectic... 100,000 people in one place yikes... but a lot of fun. ~Lukas
  2. Perhaps trying to find the balance that would work between the cousins - who would be more likely to say what and how, etc.
  3. I believe his brother died. Much like Jesse took in the Duke children...
  4. *laughing* Good list... although I prefer to space out my eating so as not to feel terrible at any time. And as for fruitcake, it depends what kind... the storebought stuff sticky and full of candied things is horrible I agree, but have you ever had old-fashioned fruitcake with real fruit (berries, nuts, coconut, and etc)? That stuff's very good. Pretty much impossible to find though unless you make it at home. ~Lukas
  5. There was a lot of emotion, and therefore both physical and mental force and energy, when the cousins fought. It didn't happen often... and it's a hard situation to be that upset and mad at your best friend. ~Lukas
  6. Goat's milk is wonderful; tastes good, healthier for the human body than cow's, and yes it does keep a very long time in the fridge! Though usually it doesn't stick around that long in my house... Goat cheese is good too. ~Lukas
  7. Yes, there were two dogs used in the series. The first was the Flash rescued from the animal shelter; I'm not sure of the story on the second, younger dog which was in the last two or three seasons. I think she may have actually belonged to James Best but I may be wrong. I believe he did end up with bassets. Both dogs on the show were very much female, however. I believe they were only even calling Flash "he" for a few episodes, in fact... four or five. But because of the song "Flash" on the soundtrack released during this short time, which refers to Flash as "he", the matter of Flash's gender has been more confused than need be. ~Lukas
  8. *laughs* Good job, good job... you do a remarkable Boss, and Rosco and Bo ain't bad either. Very nice, lots of chuckles. Thanks for sharin'! ~Lukas
  9. Oh my... All I can say is, thank you. This took me back and brought a tear to my eyes... great job. ~Lukas
  10. "Boy're we glad to see you." Luke looked across his shoulder to Bo with a relieved smile, then reached out to shake Rosco's hand, then clasped both hands around one of MaryAnne's briefly before easing out of the way to let Bo perform his own handshaking. "We've heard varied reports on where and how you two were, and it's good to see ya alive and well with our own eyes. As for a couple more guns, well, that's what we're here for." He nodded to Bo, and the blond man nodded back, lips pressing together as he tugged down the brim of his hat slightly. "That's right, ma'am... an' actually there's a third gun that'd be willin' out there somewhere," dark blue eyes glanced toward the nearby hills, "if your cousin got enough of a pardon. He's worried about ya you know, but says he'd be killed for comin' into town." "I think he's still out there somewhere near, though." Luke paused, giving his cousin, then the hillside, a thoughtful look. "I wonder... maybe he could be help even out there, Bo." "How d'ya mean?" The dusty blond head tilted. The oldest Duke nodded to the hill where the pair had last seen Brian Coltrane, speaking more to his cousin than to the law at this point. "If we could maybe get him on advance sentry detail..." He paused... then slowly began to smile, blue eyes taking on a fierce glint. "Y'all..." he began slowly. "I just might have an idea..." (cue anyone)
  11. About this new movie - There's a huge difference between lowbrow and downright disgustin'.
  12. Heck, there's some good food that comes out of the South too! Animal feet and fried candy is beyond me, but think of all the down-home foods like fried chicken, butter-fried fish, bisque, dumplin's, chicken-fried steak... and veggies, mm good butter-cooked veggies... And the Midwest too! Cheeses and sausage galore, nearly anything on a stick at the fair, roasted corn, good steak, fresh chicken... etc etc.
  13. Brian, you're only digging yourself in deeper and deeper... Then again maybe you wanna.
  14. As far as I know Bo never had a middle name given on the show. If you can prove me wrong, you're welcome to, but till then I don't believe there was one given. We were told Luke's middle initial was K and Jesse's was L, and Daisy's middle name was Mae... but that's all that was told, I believe. Though most people, myself included give him a middle name of some sort as well as expanding on the others' initials. Yes, I knew that about John... was just commenting on how it ended up in the fiction so much when it was never mentioned on the show. Plausible though I suppose one way or the other. And yes, it would be fascinating to find out... someday.
  15. Not always black, though darker colors are good for night running, but fairly ordinary looking. Though not so "ordinary" usually that it wouldn't have somethin' fast under the hood. In that business, revenuers got outrun almost as often as they were snuck past. ~Lukas
  16. Actually I heard a few years ago that the dislike may be more personal than that. I believe it was Byron especially that Tom didn't get along with. Details unknown and probably better unasked.
  17. Luke still had a sense of humor in the last couple seasons, and still even poked at Bo once in a while... it was gentler though; gradually over the course of the show he grew more protective of both his cousins, just as Bo grew up a little too. Bo always was a kid at heart (still is!) but he could be quieter and more thoughtful later on too when the situation called for it. And Luke lost his sharpest edges to become a genuinely caring man... and that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
  18. On a slightly side-note, I find it interesting how much one particular writer's stories have affected much of the Dukes fiction writing since then. Yes, I mean you, Crazy C, tip of the hat to you if you still hang around here. One of the first Dukes fic writers online and a good one too... but still, interesting how many things from her stories have become fanon to so many. Such as Bo's childhood illnesses, or even, heck, the middle name James! That was never on the show! But ask many fans now and they see such things as matter-of-course... Fascinating.
  19. I like some of these choices more'n others, but then again I was always partial to country. LOL. A few other suggestions that I don't think were mentioned yet - "Free 'N Easy" - Dierks Bentley (I agree; he's very Dukes-ish - actually I remember reading somewhere where he mentioned being a fan and having Hazzard as an inspiration for a lot of his music! Is that cool or what?) "Southern Nights" - Glen Campbell (just a good ol' southern easygoing song that reminds me of Hazzard on a not-so-hectic evening) "Back Where I Come From" - Kenny Chesney "Red Dirt Road" - Brooks and Dunn "Standin' Still" - Clark Family Experience ("Gonna run barefoot through it, jumpin' over trouble like there ain't nothin' to it, makin' my way even when it's all uphill... ya ain't never gonna catch me standin' still" - enough said!) And on a more "sappy" mood, "Faith In You" - Steve Wariner (seems to fit the family pretty well IMO)
  20. Sudden vacancy, eh? If I were you Brian, I'd get about halfway down the street before she starts yellin'. Hopefully she can't throw that far! *grins*
  21. Luke turned slowly to face the young man that had sneered out his opinion, his own blue eyes sharply focusing on the mismatched dark. A muscle tightened along his jaw and shoulders straightened a bit more. “Very funny Chet,†came the dry, yet sarcastic reply, stance and tone both shifting just a bit too casual. “My only question, y’know, is just why you’re standin’ there instead of ridin’ with your buddies. But don’t worry. We’ll handle y’all later.†Visibly dismissing the younger man from his attention, Luke turned to scan across the faces of Min, Valerie, Enos, Chance, Daisy... trusted all, but none the central source of information he sought. “Has anyone heard from MaryAnne or Rosco?†(cue Val, Doc, MaryAnne, etc…)
  22. Galloping hooves kicked up a dust cloud as the Duke cousins came flying into town with no time to waste and little care for the town rules on speed. Nostrils wide, Luke's gray gelding threw his head up as he was reined in nearly to a sliding stop in front of the sherriff's office. His equally tired but determined rider swung down and gave the sweaty neck a stroke of thanks, flipping a coin to one of the remaining young men who came running to take and walk the gelding, then tucked his gloves in his belt and slapped the dust out of his hat before stepping up to the porch, glancing over his shoulder. Bo pulled up alongside Luke, bringing the gelding to a dust spitting stop in front of the sheriff's office. Swinging lightly out of the saddle, he got the young man's attention and flipped him another coin to take care of his own mount. Stepping up to his cousin he gazed at the assembled men and women, nodding to the men, tipping his hat to the women-folk, not in the least surprised with their presence...glad of it in fact, knowing Val, Min and Daisy, at least, were all good shots...as good as any man. "Afternoon, gentlefolk," Luke half drawled, tipping the edge of his hat slighly with two dusty fingers. He glanced around, honestly relieved. "Looks like y'all are already set for war. Who's in charge?" (Cue whoever's in town to answer!)
  23. When browsing the article linked on the main page (the Basset Hound article wherein Flash is honorably mentioned) I found a link to the name Rosco P Coltrane. Of course I clicked on it, expecting a brief commentary on the character, the show, and the actor. Instead I was greeted by an indepth, accurate-to-episodes page all about Rosco P Coltrane himself. Delighted, I read all the way through until I came to the bottom, whereupon I found an html box of links to a whole series of Dukes of Hazzard Wikipedia pages on people, a couple places, spin-offs and film productions, and what have you. On clicking from page to page through this treasure trove of information, I was ecstatic to discover the author's clear love and intimate knowledge of both the television creation and the fictional world itself of Hazzard. Personal information on the citizens of Hazzard, rare and unknown quips of trivia, insider-level production details, and beautifully executed prose (and correct spelling!) strongly characterize this series of pages as one of the best (in my opinion) serious Hazzard information sites in existence. And at the bottom of the main Dukes of Hazzard entry is a list of outside site links in which HazzardNet takes fourth place (after such "bigs" as imdb and the "offical" site). I highly recommend this series of Wikipedia pages to any serious or new Dukes fan. The sheer amount of information available here promises many hours of happy reading! Here's the link to the main "Dukes" entry. Go to the bottom of the page to find the link box to the associated specific Wikipedia entries, or click on links throughout the articles for even more bits of info. Have fun! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dukes_of_Hazzard Oh, and if the author hangs out anywhere around here - great job well done! I'd love to know who you are. ~Lukas
  24. Hmmm... that might be worth renting actually. It looks like they went well away from the previous movie. Not quite show - but a lot closer!
