Apologies for the lateness of my F1 review - I've had a busy week! Here's what happened at last weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, Italy. The McLarens looked to have the pace all through the three free practice sessions, but could only manage first and fourth on the grid (Oscar Piastri ahead of Lando Norris). They were split by the Red Bull of Max Verstappen and the Mercedes of George Russell. Neither Ferrari made it into the top 10, which disappointed their fans so close to their factory. The other Mercedes driver, 18-year-old rookie Kimi Antonelli, grew up near the track and had invited many friends and family to the race, but could only qualify 13th. Oscar made a good start, but Max got around him almost immediately. Lando had to wait until lap 11 to pass George and set off after his team mate. Oscar pitted early, and then Lando pitted just before Esteban Ocon's car pulled off to retire from the race, bringing out a virtual safety car. That gave Max and many others an easy pit stop and shook up the order. Lewis Hamilton, who'd been stuck behind Kimi since the start, finally managed to pass him on lap 34, and continued to make progress through the field. Sadly for his local fans, Kimi had to retire on lap 46. That brought out a full safety car which allowed for more easy pit stops for some. Max held the lead at the restart and went on to win the race. Behind him, Lando and Lewis each overtook their team mates on track. Charles Leclerc briefly passed Alex Albon, but his team told him to give the place back to avoid a penalty as he pushed Alex off the road to make the move. At the flag, the top 10 were: 1 Max Verstappen 2 Lando Norris 3 Oscar Piastri 4 Lewis Hamilton 5 Alexander Albon 6 Charles Leclerc 7 George Russell 8 Carlos Sainz Jnr 9 Isack Hadjar 10 Yuki Tsunoda Lewis said it was the first time he felt at home in the Ferrari after joining the team at the start of the season. You can see the race highlights here. This weekend we're off to the historic Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo.3 points -

Good luck with that. You have some pretty stiff competition. It's Hobie's facility so he has the home track advantage. Meadowmufn is in the sheriff's car so who knows what dirty tricks those two have up their sleeves. Hoss has an F1 rocket. I have an F150 rocket. So far Skipper seems to be the only slow one. But if he unhooks the trailer the SS Minnow is on, there's no telling what he can do. I imagine Boss JD Hogg and Spike are going to be jumping in.3 points -

Hoss in an orange F1 car. Boss, Spike, others, ya in? If we don't hear from people they're gittin' flat tires as soon as the race starts....but they will be starting.3 points -

Let's all remember, it's the MoonShine 400 ( not like Daytona 500, Charlotte 500 etc. ) because we who started the race, can't stay sober long enough to make 500 laps! It's ok though. We have a lot of fun racing people we know and it's mainly a Hazzard County thing, so we don't have to worry about outsiders crashing the party!! I hope everyone has had a great day. Remember, it's DOH day!! * * Happy DOHD everybody! ( Fridays are always Dukes Of Hazzard Day!)3 points -
Hazzard Square
Hobie Hartkins and 2 others reacted to HossC for a topic
The trio correctly identified the square as the filming location of 'The Music Man' and 'The Gilmore Girls' (both already mentioned in this thread), and then Cathy says "and then didn't they film, um, Opie, uh, what's that, not Happy Days, um ...". She never finished the sentence and never mentioned Andy Griffiths, but it's fair to assume that that's what she was referring to as Ron Howard's character was Opie Taylor (and he was in 'Happy Days'). Exteriors for "The Andy Griffith Show" were mainly filmed at the RKO 40 Acres/Desilu backlot in Culver City, about 45 minutes south of the Warner Bros' backlot. I can't find any evidence of Andy Griffith filming in Burbank. The video below shows what's now standing where the backlots were, and mentions several other shows and movies that were filmed there. It also shows the former Desilu Studios in Hollywood. There's a brief Dukes tie-in at around 12:32 when they show a still of James Best from the 1959 movie 'Verboten!'.3 points -

True. I don't trust Meadowmufn. She's just too good of friends with the Sheriff. Speaking of which, I wonder if Rosco is going to let her drive his car in the Moonshine 400. If she does, ignore the siren. She will probably use it to trick us into slowing down.3 points -

So, how does this work Hobie, can I enter a dirtbike, Hoss enter an F1 car, Garrett enter a NASCAR #24 car? ETC ETC? Can Skipper enter the SS Minnow or does it have to be on wheels, like maybe a flatbed semi pulling the SS Minnow? Can we pick our own colors or do they have to all be red because you can't see any other color?3 points -

Well, it's racing time here in Hazzard, but of course it's ALWAYS racing time in Hazzard Co. The Moonshine Mauler is the favored winner this year, because of it's super charged engine and Hobie is the driver! There ARE some other racers though, who plan to give Hartkins a run for his money!2 points -

General Questions about The Dukes of Hazzard Series
Skipper Duke and one other reacted to HossC for a topic
Again, I think they're similar but different. The one in 'The Ghost of General Lee' gets into a crash at the end, so was probably damaged. There are actually two trucks used in 'Arrest Jesse Duke'. The one the car strippers get into outside the parts store was originally white, and still has white paint visible inside the cab and patchy bits on the back and roof of the cab. During the chase it's a different truck - they acquire a bed of tires and all the white paint has gone. This is close to the 'The Ghost of General Lee' truck, but the rust/wear spots are in different places. As they pass Boss' house leaving the square in 'The Ghost of General Lee' they pass a very similar truck. Maybe this was the other one from the episode. It reminded me of the extra General parked in the square in 'One Armed Bandits'.2 points -

This weekend's Monaco Grand Prix is seen as a halo event, mainly due to its long history, glamor, and the demanding nature of the tight street circuit right on the shoreline of the wealthy principality. However, the tight nature makes overtaking very difficult, which can lead to boring races. F1 rules usually mandate that two different tire compounds are used during a race (Pirelli bring "soft", "medium" and "hard" tires to each race chosen from six different compounds to best suit the likely wear expected at the circuit), meaning at least one pit stop. At last year's race there was a bad crash on the first lap which brought out a red flag. Most of the field used their enforced time in the pits to fit hard tires which lasted until the end of the race (lower speeds a Monaco mean lower tire wear). The top ten cars finished in exactly the same order in which they started. You can see the highlights (I use the term loosely) of the race here. To try to avoid a repeat of this, teams will still have to use two tire compounds during the race at Monaco, but they have to make at least two pit stops this year. Time will tell if this makes any difference. Local driver and last year's winner, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, has been fastest in the first two practice sessions, with the McLarens also looking quick.2 points -

I have decided to enter Jesse's white F-150 in the race. Emma looked it up and found out it is against postal regulations to enter the dirt bike. Me and Cooter souped up the old Ford this morning and tested it. It's a strange coincidence you are getting 180 mph. I hit 181 mph in the truck this afternoon. Cooter thinks he can improve on that.2 points -

The race is over, but it's 11pm here, so I'm off to bed. I'll write my report tomorrow when the highlights video is available. In the meantime, instead of the usual drivers' parade lap on the back of a truck, in Miami they drove round the circuit in full-size 2-seater Lego F1 cars. The drivers all seemed to enjoy it, so we may see it again. You can see today's Lego lap here.2 points
