    NASCAR news

I figured out of the "rookie" Indycar class this year Romain would be the one that would acclimate the best. I would not be surprised to see him win at least once before the season is over. At Dover it was a Hendrick Motorsports smackdown. Kyle Larson dominated winning both the stages however it was his teammate Alex Bowman in the 48 who would lead the team to a 1,2,3,4 finish. Top 10 1 Alex Bowman 2 Kyle Larson 3 Chase Elliot 4 William Byron 5 Joey Logano 6 Kevin Harvick 7 Denny Hamlin 8 Tyler Reddick 9 Daniel Suarez 10 Cole Custer

  11. I think some of the places Duel was filmed at were used in Dukes of Hazzard as well, other than that I don't know. Duel is a helluva good movie though. Love the look of the Peterbilt they used.

  12. Well I thought that since the chase will officially start this Sunday, that it would be fun to see who y'all think will be crowned champion at the end of the 2010 season (November 21st I think is the last race at Homestead Miami).

    Q & A of NASCAR

Sam Hornish Jr drove IndyCar, not F1. I think IndyCar is a lot easier for non-Americans to break into than NASCAR. If you look at the current IndyCar lineup there's at least 6 Brits as well as about 8 or 9 Brazilians and others from Japan, Colombia etc.. at least 2 of which are ex-F1. I guess the money's pretty good in NASCAR, so drivers tend to stay if they can. There's a 4 week mid-season break in F1 at present, so I only had BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) to watch this weekend. It's probably the nearest we have to NASCAR, although all the tracks are what you would call road courses like Watkins Glen and the cars only have 2 liter (122 cu in) engines. It's technically a non-contact form of racing, but that doesn't stop some interesting comings together. To see what I'm talking about you can check out the finale of last year's season here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOaJPS1yOuc Incidentally, the next race on the F1 calendar is arguably the best - Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The reason I mention this is that like Watkins Glen it also has a 'Bus stop' chicane. End of F1 hijack of NASCAR forum.

It wouldn't surprise me if the story if that car being haunted is real. This guy I know had a late 60's Dodge Dart. He gave it to his son and his son ended up getting killed in an accident. He held on to the car and eventually gave it to his grandson who ended up dying in an accident as well. Neither of the accidents took place in the Dart but I always thought it was a strange coincidence that they perished after taking ownership of the Dart. The guy ended up selling the Dart after his family said the car has got to go.

    Q & A of NASCAR

Garrett, is there any precident for this size of fine. A couple of weeks back in F1, Ferrari got fined $100,000 for 'team orders'. Basically, in F1, the teams (each of 2 cars) cannot make one of their drivers give way to the other. Ferrari sent one of their drivers, Felipe Massa (who was in the lead), the radio message 'Fernando (his team mate) is faster than you. Do you understand?'. He subsequently let him by, and the authorities slapped them with the fine. This pales into insignificance compared to what happened to McLaren in 2007. They were found to be in possession of technical data belonging to rivals Ferrari. They got stripped of all their constructor's points (their drivers' points added together - drivers compete for the drivers' championship, teams for the constructors') and got fined $100 million.
