I see that Romain Grosjean took his first IndyCar pole at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis this weekend and ended up finishing second. He's due to make a one-off return to F1 with a demonstration run at the French Grand Prix next month.
Things have finally settled down to the new normal around here. It really was crazy for awhile. My mother-in- law was a great person and I will miss her. I'll catch up on posts tomorrow. I hope everybody had a good weekend.
Dukes of Hazzard Fun Fact: Actor Jack Palance(Curly) from the movies City Slickers and City Slickers II played the voice of Black Jack Perril in The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home game the PlayStation and PC Windows versions.
Mine too.
While waiting in line at the bank Saturday morning this topic came up though the people behind us were talking about the Looney Tunes and other cartoons that they grew up on and The Talk's Sharon Osbourne. One guy joked ''I'm not on Facebook so nobody can cancel me" and we all laughed at that .
This cultural change has been coming at a pretty rapid rate. I don't know what the future holds. All cultures evolve. Nothing stays the same in any culture but this one is especially troubling to me. Maybe it's always been this way. Maybe I'm just entering a stage of my life where I start to become a grumpy old man. Either that or cancel culture is run by a bunch of crazies.
HMM, THAT SOUNDS MORE LIKE IT.
The day is coming where owning a Dukes DVD will be a criminal offense. I know that sounds crazy but think about it. This is a trend we're seeing. Something in motion stays in motion unless acted on by another force. There is no force powerful enough to stop this trend. This political correct insanity cannot be put back in the bottle. America has spoken. The voters decided to vote liberals in and they now control everything. This will not end well for people like us.
Well I don't want to be hogging the NASCAR forum here, but Roger came up with an idea for a question and answer page for NASCAR and thought it was a great idea. Thought we could post our questions here and whoever who has the answer can answer it. Wish I could say I had all the answers, but I don't. So if there is a question on here that doesn't get answered, I could try to look the answer up. Thanks Roger for the great idea!
You are very welcome, Roger. Was excited to see JJ win again, though was wishing it was Gordon. I am tired of hearing the media people keep counting all the races since his last win - like I need reminding of that. Anyway, was glad to see JJ bounce back...he normally does when he has a poor race as he had the last race so it wasn't surprising to see him win, especially at a track he is so dominant at.
Official Sprint Cup Points as of 8/23/10: 1. Kevin Harvick 2. Jeff Gordon (-279) 3. Kyle Busch 4. Carl Edwards 5. Denny Hamlin 6. Tony Stewart 7. Jeff Burton 8. Matt Kenseth 9. Jimmie Johnson 10. Kurt Busch 11. Greg Biffle 12. Clint Bowyer 13. Jamie McMurray (-100) 14. Mark Martin (-101) 15. Ryan Newman Well two races to go until the chase and now Gordon is clinched into the chase. Harvick and Gordon are both for sure in the chase no matter what happens the next two races.
As an Formula 1 fan I had always assumed (in my younger days) that oval racing must be really dull with no chicanes or twisty-turny bits. Then one of our non-subscription channels picked up some NASCAR races and started showing them at 2 or 3 in the morning (it wasn't the time difference - they were shown a day or 2 late). It's a very different type of racing, and watching the lead change several times a lap certainly means I was wrong about it being dull:). I'm not sure whether they've stopped showing it, or my insomnia cleared up. For your sake I hope they stopped showing it, otherwise there's going to be a whole bunch of dumb questions heading your way.
Well Garrett, so far you're the only expert we got. I shouldn't use the word "only" because you're so good you're really all we need. This is just a suggestion. Let me know what you think. Unlike the other trivia forum where an expert asks a question and people answer, I think on this one, people should ask questions and the expert should answer. Here's the first question. Why does no NASCAR driver have number 01?....those drivers all love the Dukes of Hazzard. You'd think they'd be fighting for that number.
Yesterday was fun... Trailing arm snapped while the wife was out running errands leaving her stranded. She called a friend who has AAA so it could at least get towed back home. Dispatcher goofed up the address and sent the driver to the wrong place. After 90 minutes my wife called AAA again asking where the tow truck was and was told "nobody was there" to which my wife replied I've been stranded here for the past 2 hours I haven't gone anywhere and was told it would be about 6:30 till another truck could be dispatched to her. She found a number to the tow company our mechanic gave us and called that and he was there within half an hour and towed it to the mechanics. I don't know if AAA is short handed or what but with service like that I'm glad I didn't waste money on a membership this year.
