Ultimate Cooter's Tow Truck -- WIP
Spike and one other reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser for a topic
Now for the rotating beacon atop the rig. Found something very similar from Tony's Custom Squads. Still needed some cleaning up, and the finish redone in Alclad Stainless Steel (although Polished Aluminum perhaps might have been a better choice). License plate was made by cutting a piece of aluminum turkey roasting pan to match the size of the license plate decal. Now for the rear view mirrors. I discovered from my photos that there were two similar yet different styles used, probably meaning two different trucks used for filming the series. I settled on one and started work. Once built and primed, they were finished in Alclad polished aluminum and Bare Metal Foil for the actual reflective surfaces. I definitely should have cleaned them up a bit more after priming....2 points -

That was a shock when I loaded up the airy app on my Roku device yesterday when I got home and seen the Dukes of Hazzard channel. It's on 24/7 so you can catch an episode any time of the day2 points -

I just finished my Vilkings series.....6 seasons in less than 2 months. It was pretty amazing and kept me wanting more. I wouldn't be surprised if the Duke family had some Viking in them. They are pretty adventurous. The only thing I can remember from the show is they had relatives from England so the Dukes may be more related to HossC than Ragnar Lothbrok.1 point -

Ultimate Cooter's Tow Truck -- WIP

On to the actual tow cable. I was first referred to some braided metal cable produced specifically for modelmakers, but it was much too thick, and didn't coil around the spool at all. I found my answer in a picture hanging kit. The braided wire for hanging pictures on a wall was almost perfect in the smallest size, the 10-50 lb strength. I ran it through a candle flame to give it the appropriate worn/stained appearance. Next, some of the most critical scratchbuilding of the project, the sling. I tried various materials to simulate the heavy duty rubber straps, including black duct tape, black latex gloves and even bicycle inner tube. The latter had the perfect appearance but alas, was far too thick. I found the answer in black party balloons. The rounded part had too many curves to use, but the balloon necks had barely enough length of flat material. Add to that the chains on each side and the effect exceeded my hopes. On the end of the chains are hooks; these I made from reshaped sections of paperclip, then attached to the chains and painted worn dark metallic. After this I was VERY relieved and pleased with the result.1 point -

If you're a fan of 50's, 60's and 70's tv shows Airy.tv has added a bunch more to their streaming apps. Mr.Ed, Bewitched, The Jeffersons, Gunsmoke, Mission Impossible, Columbia, The Fugitive, Rockford Files, Green Acres, Hogan's Heroes, Mchale's Navy, The Three Stooges and Tom & Jerry cartoons are just the latest to get their own 24 hour streaming channels on the app. They also have 50's tv, 60's tv and 70's tv channels that show tv shows that don't have their own 24/7 channels and rare single season shows.1 point -

Glad you guys are giving these a go. On the A-Z quiz I got 17/26 the first time, although it was more like 17/24 because I didn't know the president or the 'infamous' country (note to self: revise US presidents and geography). Thought I had it licked, but still only got 24 the second time around. Third time lucky - a couple of days on and I finally got 26/26. I guess lost_sheep was right - practise (practice) makes perfect .1 point -

31 out of 44. Do I win a prize? LOL.1 point -
Heard back from them...their license to air episodes expired. They're trying to work out a new deal but with the current 'cancel culture' climate DoH might not be back on their apps.0 points

Not sure why but Dukes of Hazzard has been removed from both the phone and streaming media player Airy.tv apps. It was kind of nice watching the Dukes without having to dig out a dvd.0 points
