Life goes fast. I probably posted here once upon a time. I have FINALLY completed a years long process. The General Lee is built from an original MPC kit from 1969 I picked up from e-bay. The previous owner had painted it a gold/copper color back in the day with automotive paint(cannot be stripped/etches itself into the plastic). I came across the Lee 1 story and it was perfect. It took parts from numerous kits and hours of replaying scenes from One Armed Bandit. Stories on the background cars to follow.
Also in 'Uncle Boss', Cooter needed a truck big enough to hide Hughie's VW inside, and said that he borrowed it. That's despite it having faded signwriting with Cooter's name on the sides.
Little Richard has passed away at the age of 87. He was cited as an influence by acts such as The Beatles, Elvis and Elton John. From 1957, here's Lucille:
Your profile says that you joined in 2006 and this is your second post so you're right about that. Hoss has me beat. I don't know which episodes the other two are from but I'm suspecting Mason Dixon's Girls on the one on the left. It must be cool to have a General Lee that is actually from 1969. We look forward to hearing more from you.
- LB Davenport again....no Cooter.
I wish LB had been on the show regularly!
- We learn that Mill Pond Road where the Dukes live is 18 miles from town.
I wish I could remember the episode but I'd bet money on one of them, it said 19 miles from town! ...Another blooper!......ever notice that they didn't show any road ( or road sites) between town and the farm! It was just close by the farm or just outside of town. The long stretch of area between the two areas was never shown or explored!
I read an article this morning about the Ford vs Ferrari movie and they used Chevy LS engines in the production cars but supposedly recorded actual racing cars engine noise for use in the movie.
That's just cheap!
I didn't like this episode mainly for 'relatives hooking up' stereotype of southern people even though we find out later on in the episode that he wasn't any relation.
I also always wondered if they left the Jag stock or Hollywooded it and shoved a Chevy small block in it for reliability like they do with most older foreign sports cars in movies these days. I read an article this morning about the Ford vs Ferrari movie and they used Chevy LS engines in the production cars but supposedly recorded actual racing cars engine noise for use in the movie.
A 5.3l V12 1971 Jaguar XK-E (or E-Type if you live outside North America). In standard spec, the Jag was over a second slower to 60mph compared to a 1969 Charger R/T with a V8 Hemi and 3-speed auto transmission, but their top speeds were very similar. Obviously, the General was a race car, so should have been faster than stock.
Here's how Top Gear paid tribute to the E-Type on its 50th birthday back in 2011 (with just a touch of patriotism):
This thread's been quiet for a while, and sadly I'm back with a tribute. Today I read the news that Marie Fredriksson, half of Swedish duo Roxette, has died aged just 61. She'd been battling cancer since 2002, and it finally got the better of her. Here's one of their most successful tracks which topped the charts around the world in 1991.
Joyride - Roxette
