HazzardNet Announcements

News and Announcements regarding the website and forums, posted by the Admin.

  1. Started by Meadowmufn,

Would anyone be interested in having episode watch parties? I can't promise any sort of frequency, but I would love to re-watch the series again with you guys. If you're interested, comment with the days of the week and times that are best for you and I'll try to schedule something that works for the majority. I might be able to schedule a second viewing for folks across the pond. I would also like some volunteers to test things out with me on the website we'll be using.

  2. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I updated the main site today and spent some time optimizing so, hopefully, the site loads faster. As I have time, I'll likely be going through and updating, adding, and deleting old stuff. As with the forums, if you run across any issues, please let me know.

  4. Started by Meadowmufn,

I'm putting together a list of the best threads on HazzardNet. Feel free to post your nominations here (preferably with links to save me time in looking them up).

  5. Started by Meadowmufn,

Guess who turned 20 years old on January 11th? Completely slipped my mind. I started HazzardNet on 1/11/1999. I want to thank everyone who has helped make HazzardNet what it is and who've stuck with me all these years. I know I haven't been around much lately due to health issues and stress from work, so I'm incredibly grateful so many of you are still here keeping the spirit of the Dukes alive.

Title says it all.......Thank you MaryAnne, Brian, and Mufn! I love HNet!

  7. Started by Meadowmufn,

Some of you may have noticed HazzardNet was down for a few hours today. The database wouldn't come up. Fixed it though. I bet Enos unplugged something important to plug in the coffeemaker. He didn't even leave me any donuts from the Busy Bee.

  8. Started by Brian Coltrane,

Don't know if anyone on here knows yet,but Whitney Houston passed away yesterday She was found unresponsive in her Beverly Hills hotel room, and despite 20 minutes of resuscitation she was pronounced dead. Police say there's no sign of foul play, and the coroner has yet to perform an autopsy. R.I.P Whitney, you will never be forgotten.

A lot of folks help keep an eye on this place, and sometimes we're not recognizing them like we should. Tonight I'm givin' a big ol' HazzardNet Hollar to Val Strate, for reporting a spammer in our Forums. Val, thank ya for finding the problem and going the extra step of notifying us about it. Sal-ute ! It's good citizens like you who help keep HazzardNet safe and enjoyable for all.

  13. Started by HazzardNetAdmin,

Now that we have a new forum and can do such neat things as add smilies and avatars easily, I'm putting out a call for folks to nominate and/or submit smilies and avatars for inclusion in our forums for everyone to use. One good place to find smilies is http://www.mazeguy.net. If you find one you like there, simply click on it, copy the code they provide in the box above the list of smilies and post it in this thread for us to take a look at. I am in the process of making some avatars for everyone to use. If you're graphically inclined, feel free to offer some of your own creations for others to use. Obviously, we don't want to go too overboard with smilies and avatars, s…

I have missed being here, but the work I have now keeps me quite busy and hardly any time for myself.... As a lot of you know, I been depressed a long time, and I bounce on and off from here to there. I am trying to get better, and to some extent , the anti depressant pills I take helps a wee bit. I still feel like a failure a lot of times, but I try to pass by that. It was so great to be talking to Roger again, but I was sad to hear he would need heart bypass, that is scary, so I dedicate this topic to him, the more prayers to a successful operation the better. He is one of the best you know, and I have met some really wonderful people on here, so I can't wait to be tal…

I'm going to be changing things up in the forums here and I want your input on a few things: 1) Are there any sub-forums you'd like to be removed? They will be archived, not deleted. 2) Are there any sub-forums you think we can merge? (I'm thinking Latest News and Dukes of Hazzard News to start...) 3) Which sub-forums do you use the most and would like to be moved near the top? Feel free to post a list of the way you think the sub-forums should be listed top to bottom. That's it to start. I'll be posting some more questions for input later.

  16. It's that time of year, when stuff starts to fly south. Like, our server. If you've experienced slow loading times on any of our pages, we apologize. We've been aware of the issue and are taking steps to resolve it. We have a server migration scheduled for this weekend. It's possible that there may be some temporary downtime of HazzardNet in the process. Hang in there, and we'll have all the scuffs and dents hammered out before ya know it. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

  17. Started by Meadowmufn,

I've moved the site to a new server. Please let me know if you run into any issues.

  18. Started by Brian Coltrane,

As posted by one of our members elsewhere in the forums, and thereby enticing me to post it here, since the last thing I posted was about the Dukes NOT being on the air, so....by the time I say this it's probably gonna change again. Where was I. Oh yeah! The Dukes are supposedly on CMT on Thurs May 17, starting at 4:00 eastern, for a 4-episode, prime-time, mini-marathon! When are the Dukes on CMT next, after that? Don't hold yer breath, but per one of the TV listing websites, it looks like they might also be on May 30th, but as of that date it's back to the 1:00 a.m. time slot. As always I'll do my best to keep ya'll updated!

  19. Believe it or not, we actually finished a project around here! Our FAQ page has been updated with more Dukes of Hazzard facts. The topics were taken from the scores of email questions we've received over the years. We've also thrown in a couple little-known tidbits and included a brief history of DukesFest. This ain't as robust as the tough stuff that runs on the Trivia thread, but it's a good overview of the popular topics. HazzardNet FAQ

  20. Started by RogerDuke,

A while back BoJames had a great idea in which we put a pre-picked episode in the DVD and hit "Play" at the same time and chatted about the episode while we watched it together. I was wondering if anyone would want to get together at 9pm (EST) on Thursday and watch a Lulu episode together while we hung out in the chat room talking about it. We'd have to decide which episode to watch. There's 5 of them listed on the "Favorite Lulu Episodes". Considering the title "Lulu's Gone Away" that would seem like the obvious choice. Personally I'd rather watch something more upbeat and fun like "Sadie Hogg Day" where Lulu was Boss.

I'm going to be doing some Spring cleaning around here, so if I break anything, let me know. 😂 Also, if you have suggestions for topics or forums that no longer serve a purpose and should be deleted, post links in comments here. (Or PM me!)

  22. Started by Meadowmufn,

As some of you may have noticed, the site was unavailable most of yesterday. There was a major outage in the datacenter for my webhost, affecting thousands of sites. Things have been resolved, but you might experience some residual connectivity problems until things settle.

For workin' triple overtime to restore HazzardNet, after the most horrendous crash we've had in our history. You took the place from smoking ruins, to business as usual , in just about 24 hours, give r' take. You gave up your holiday, along with a good deal of sleep, to do it. Sometimes I forget - or take for granted - the technical side of this place, until somethin' goes wrong. HazzardNet has survived hostile attacks by hackers, it has survived MaryAnne, ( j/k ! ) and it has survived server disruptions and hardware failures. Thank you for the ongoin' work you've put into the machinery here...for several years. It's been too long since I've said it...but you ar…

If any of you are signed up for the newsletter, you've probably got an email a few days ago stating that I'm going to attempt to revive it. Probably on a monthly basis for now, maybe every other month, depending on how I'm doing. That said, if any of you have ideas for the newsletter, feel free to share them here or in PM. I've already gotten a kind offer from Mark B to provide some content (thanks!).
