I’m over a month late to this but I just made my second visit to cooters in Luray on May 1st. I was passing through anyway so it was a perfect stop to eat and rest. It was my first time trying the restaurant but it was amazing. Unfortunately all the events were happening at the Nashville location but it’s always an awesome visit. I’m exhausted as well we did 3,000 miles.

Jesse is really excited about this race. He has never been one to embrace technology but is making an exception. After Rosco caught Elon Musk in the celebrity speed trap, Jesse and the boys broke him out of jail and in order to return the favor, Elon agreed to fix up Emma's dirt bike and convert it into a technologically superior racing machine that is only programmed to dominate races. It simply cannot lose. Unlucky for Emma though she broke her collar bone jumping a 60 foot wide creek two days earlier so asked Jesse to take her place. Filled with confidence that technology and AI simply cannot fail, Jesse was already daydreaming about that kiss Emma was going to give him in the winners circle.

Sorry, I'm a little late with my Miami Grand Prix summary, but the result changed slightly after the race, so it worked out in the end. As before this season, Kimi Antonelli didn't get the best start, and was passed by Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, although Max almost immediately had a spin which lost him several places. In the opening laps, Kimi briefly retook the lead before Charles got it back, and then Lando Norris took second from Kimi. As that was happening, Isack Hadjar hit the barrier and Pierre Gasly flipped over before landing the right way up. Both drivers were fine, but it brought out the safety car. When the pit stops came around, Charles had a slow stop which slipped him back a little. By about the mid-race point, Kimi got past Lando and Max (who'd pitted earlier). In almost a mirror of Max's first lap, Charles had a spin on the last lap and lost a couple of places. At the checkered flag it was Kimi in the Mercedes in first for his third win in a row. Behind him were the McLarens of Lando and Oscar Piastri ahead of the other Mercedes of George Russell. Max fought back to fifth, and the video linked below shows Charles ending up in sixth, but a post-race penalty dropped him to eighth behind Lewis Hamilton and Franco Colapinto. The race highlights are here. There's now a 3-week gap until the Canadian Grand Prix from the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal.

F1 is finally back this weekend with the Miami Grand Prix, but I'll post about that later. First, I read the sad news earlier that Alex Zanardi died yesterday at 59 years old. The Italian driver spent a few years in F1 before moving to the US where he won the CART World Series in 1997 and 1998 with Chip Ganassi Racing. After that, he had another brief stint in F1 before returning CART. In 2001, he lost both legs in a terrible crash in Germany, and survived for nearly an hour with less than a litre (under two pints) of blood left in his body. Undaunted by the injury, he returned to various forms of motor racing., but it was racing handbikes where he really succeeded once more becoming a four-time Paralympic gold medallist and 12-time world champion. There was a minute's silence for Alex Zanardi before today's Miami F1 sprint race. There's a full article at bbc.com.

Because I'm still close to the UK, I'm usually identified as English, and that's fine with me (although I didn't celebrate St George's Day on Thursday!). My nationality is British, and that's probably how I'd be known further from home where people aren't so familiar with the differences between the Home Nations.

Oh! Hey! You guys remember...next month we will have the second annual Moonshine 400!! Be getting ready!! Garrett will be defending his championship but I imagine there's a few of us around, who will have something to say about that!

An excellent suggestion by cousin Roger, was to start a new thread for the annual race this year! I thought...YES! That's an excellent suggestion! I'm going to smoke cousin Roger! No matter what he says! I've invented a new engine for the Moonshine mauler! It uses gas or shine equally well! I'll be communing with the spirits, while running the race and if I start running low on gas, instead of a pit stop, I'll save/make time, by pouring shine into the tank without having to hit pit road. You guys don't stand a chance! I'll have the most powerful engine and not have to make pit stops either! I'd like to see Garrett beat me this year!! Ha!! He better get a move on! I'm also going to use a special kind of shine that gives a racing engine extra kick! I'm going to watch that episode where Jesse uses Shine to beat a female revenuer......help me out brethren....what episode/year is that....you know name, episode, year etc.??? I'm lost! .....Cut me some slack....I lack to never found my way off the track last week while I was practicing!! ....so I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer!

Don't put Jesse's name on it. After he wins this race he is signing a big contract with Elon. Technology Is superior. The old ways are done. You will see what I mean when I rocket off the starting gate with the Muskcycle.

If neither of us finish first no hats change hands. Bet or no bet? I have the best technology the world has ever seen attached to the Muskcycle so don't say you weren't warned. Technology cannot fail. It is superior to humans as you folks will find out during and after this race.

Well I know Daisy will kiss me at the end and ride around the track with me on my victory lap1 I was hoping Garrett would be coming by for the start of the race but if he doesn't show until later, it's up to him, to make up the distance! I guess we can start it tomorrow! Make sure everyone knows on the CB.....broadcast it! We'll start out at the Boar's Nest, as usual and then circle the track ( about a mile around) and see who ends up at the Finish first! ( At the Boar's Nest of course!) It's only a 400 lap and not a 500 lap race.....I'm not sure certain people can keep sober for 500 laps! LOL!!

Sweet! I'm definitely going back. Hopefully one of the big events will be a weekend I have nothing else going on.

Hobie already got a kiss from her as he took off from the starting line! ( That's in case his kiss with Daisy doesn't happen! ) I gave her a Moonshine Kiss......she likes my Moon recipe, says I make THE best shine! NOW!! A little more prep on my machine and on with the race! Maybe I shouldn't have given Emma a Moonshine kiss.....1. NOW I'll need to concentrate on winning the race and... 2. watching my back for Cousin Roger's Revenge ........Cousin Roger's Revenge.....sounds like one of those Sat. evening shows down at the movies!! 3. Maybe his win will bring you luck in the Moonshine 400. There is a lot of pressure on the returning champion.

I missed it...but my Chase Elliott did win it and I was and still am excited about it. He's a great road racer so I am hoping he'll go for two in a row!

Here's a short video with Stephen Fry explaining what he thinks are the differences British and American comedy. They're certainly very different, but both can be very funny. Watching the "Americans React" videos has shown me how few British comedies most American have seen and how it takes a while to get used to the different tone before they get into them and appreciate them. I hope I'm encouraging some of you to look at shows from outside the US.

HEY!! Somebody needs to holler at Garrett and tell him the race is going to be in about 24-26 hrs....!! That's why I'm working myself to death getting my Manifolds re-worked and my over head cams cleaned!! Yep And you aren't going to believe what I have planned. You will never guess. Okay, I can't wait. I have to say it. I'll be on Emma's postal dirt bike but she is going to be operating it remotely on top of Iron Mountain where she can see the entire race. Ain't no way anybody can beat me and her when we team up. I have to give you credit Hobie with your buttermilk comment. I thought it would be fun to have a buttermilk in each hand so you inspired me by saying I was racing with one hand. I'm taking this to the next level. You might have noticed I've been delivering the mail in my truck lately. That's because Emma has been at Elon Musk's house these past couple days and they are working on the bike. I have to admit I am a little concerned. She is quite a catch. I hope he doesn't get any ideas and try to steal her from me.

Did you watch the WURTH 400 in Texas? That was ok but neither one of my drivers won!

Although I use my phone to check HNet when I'm out of the house, I make well over 90% of my contributions from a laptop. The ability to easily switch between multiple tabs and multiple sources, and having an actual keyboard to type on means that I can't imagine getting nearly as involved with smaller devices. Roger, I don't know how big your tablet is, but I'm sure the larger screen benefits your viewing of photos and videos.

Hey Garrett! It's good to see you bud! Hey, just remember OUR race, the Moonshine 400! Remember last year? You were the winner! This year you will need to defend your championship! I plan on giving The Moonshine Mauler an extra .....uh special tune up.....just to make sure you don't rough me up right at the last, like you did last year! LOL! Not only will you need to guard against me but cousin Roger and his unequaled skill, of driving with only one hand......while chugging Buttermilk straight from the carton!! LOL!

This is why Daytona and Talladega isn't a favorite to me. It's all about the big one and all the accidents. I am glad no one got hurt in the accidents, though.

I'm going to have to pick up my wife later and then I'll come back and open a new 15pk. case of Milwaukee's Best Ice ( Ice beer is my fav.! ) and I'll watch some of season 6 tonight and might get into season 7...don't know....I'll probably be back on here later as I watch the show and....uh.....celebrate the holiday! If my math is correct, that's 10am my time which is fine with me. I'll be at work, so wouldn't normally have a chance to check HNet mid-morning.

They're virtually unknown over here, and so far I've only seen them at this show. The guy goes by the name 'Cranky Yankee'. I've just checked his Facebook page, and apparently he'll be closer to where I live a couple of times over the summer.

Always great to make memories ain’t it? You and your brother will cherish that time forever. My dad and I went to a few local car shows in our time too, he liked his cars but he really loved art. He was a painter, he did those paint by numbers kits, and managed to do 50 of em. He gave a lot of em away a few years ago, but the handful he kept are now proudly hanging on my walls.

Hi Roger, I was very blessed to have him, and I hope I do him proud. He definitely passed the tradition on to me, and I hope someday I’m blessed enough to do the same, should I be blessed with fatherhood. You’re not too personal, don’t worry. Actually my name is Thomas, but I shorten it to Tom these days. When I signed up here and thought of a username, I figure Tom Duke has a nice ring to it. Never realized about the parallel with Tom Wopat, kinda cool as he’s my favourite of the Duke Boys.

Dad instilled a love of cars in me. He used to take me to cruisin' 50's night in high school and when I was little we went to the Harrah's Auto Museum in Sparks, NV on vacation. That was a treat. Dad had dementia for his last years, but my brother and I managed to get him to the Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance and the Petersen Automotive Museum a few years ago. We had a blast, made some great memories, and took lots of photos.
