HossC
Lewis Hamilton claimed his 100th F1 victory today at the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi (the previous record was 91 by Michael Schumacher). It wasn't his easiest win - he started 4th and slipped back to 6th for a while. Lando Norris looked to be on course for his first win, but when rain hit a few laps from the end, Hamilton pitted for wet tires and Norris tried to stay out on slicks. Norris eventually swapped tires, but finished 7th. The rain allowed Hamilton's title rival Max Verstappen to score an unexpected 2nd place after starting from the back of the grid due to an engine change. Win seven races to go, it could still go either way! Spike

It was team sweeps at Las Vegas this weekend. Thorsport finished 1234 in the Truck series race. JR Motorsports finished 123 in the Xfinity race. Chase Elliott didn't get the memo though as he crashed the JGR sweep of the Cup series race. Early on it looked like it was going to be a race between Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson. Kyle Larson won stage 1. I'm not sure what happened to him in stage 2 since I went to bed and the highlight reels on YouTube don't mention it but he went a lap down and didn't get back on the lead lap till late in the race. Joey Gase was in the RWR 15 this weekend and suffered a wheel failure of some sort and hit the wall hard and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation. Top 10 1 Denny Hamlin 2 Chase Elliott 3 Kyle Busch 4 Martin Truex Jr 5 Ryan Blaney 6 Tyler Reddick 7 Brad Keselowski 8 Kurt Busch 9 Kevin Harvick 10 Kyle Larson RogerDuke

Both drivers wanted to stay out. Mercedes over-ruled Hamilton, but McLaren didn't over-rule Norris. In the end that made the difference. I'm sure it won't be long before Norris gets his first win. Spike
I'm calling it No way is Nascar going to pass this chance up if they do I'll do a new post. The Hendrick driver's had a bad Talladega race. The 5, 24 and 48 all got caught up in wrecks. The 5 has enough points built up to survive the 2bd round but the 24 and 48 would have to win the Charlotte Roval race next week. Bubba Wallace wins his first Cup race after it got postponed and rain shortened. I think this marks the first time Trucks, Xfinity and Cup Talladega weekend races have ended with a new 1st time winner. Top 10 1 Bubba Wallace 2 Brad Keselowski 3 Joey Logano 4 Kurt Busch 5 Christopher Bell 6 Chris Buescher 7 Denny Hamlin 8 Kevin Harvick 9 Austin Dillon or Erik Jones 10 Anthony Alfredo Edited October 4, 2021 by Spike RogerDuke

Spike
The Charlotte Roval race was another exciting one yesterday. Chase Elliott was having a great run, winning Stage 1 and 2nd in Stage 2, until Kevin Harvick decided to use the bumper which knocked Chase's car backwards into the wall. The #9 team was able to fix the car to keep Chase running and boy did he. He was laying laps down that were as good as the leader's. A few more cautions and he was running back up into the teens. He was about to catch Kevin Harvick in turn 1 but Kevin psyched himself out and braked too late and hit the wall hard enough to take himself out of the race. It looked like Denny Hamlin was going to win the race but Kyle Larson got a great restart after the final caution and passed Denny in turn 3 or 4, Tyler Reddick and William Byron followed and gave chase to Kyle Larson. William Byron was in a must win scenario but unfortunately he used up his tires and was on the losing end of contact with Tyler. Kyle Larson went on to win his 7th race of the season and punched his ticket into the round of 8 playoffs. The other drivers joining him in that around are Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski. Spike
Texas was another dominating run for Kyle Larson winning stage 2 and the race and leading the most laps. This is his 8th win of the season which puts him in a class of just 17 driver's that have won 8 or more races in a season. Some of the playoff contenders had a bad race. Joey Logano's engine blew. Martin Truex Jr suffered a part failure that caused him to hit the wall hard and retire from the race. Denny Hamlin got a little karma back late in the race after using his bumper to move some out of the way. He got a tire rub that blew his tire. Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick raced each other hard but clean. Spike
Kyle Larson once again joins an elite class of Nascar driver's by winning his 3rd race in a row for a 2nd time in a season. The last time this was accomplished was Dale Earnhardt Sr in 1987. This is also his 9th win this season. Kansas was not a good race for most of the playoff contenders. All the Penske racing drivers had issues ranging from contact damage to engine temperatures. Ryan Blaney looked to be the one Penske driver that would come out of Kansas above the cut line but hard racing on a late race restart with Austin Dillon sent Blaney's car to the hauler and finishing 37th. Joey Logano managed to crack the top 10 with a 9th place finish. Kyle Busch earlier in the week whined about non playoff drivers racing playoff drivers too hard. Let's just say the non playoff drivers raced him probably harder than usual and of course he was screaming like a two year old throwing a tantrum about it . He also hit the wall a few times and ended up several laps down finishing 28th. NBC played a few seconds of his radio and most of it was bleeped. Top 10 1 Kyle Larson 2 Chase Elliott 3 Kevin Harvick 4 Kurt Busch 5 Denny Hamlin 6 William Byron 7 Martin Truex Jr 8 Christopher Bell 9 Joey Logano 10 Austin Dillon If you missed it F1's Daniel Ricciardo got to drive one of Dale Earnhardt Sr's Wrangler Monte Carlo's around COTA https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YIZItRqlzwg RogerDuke
HossC
Belated congratulations to Jamie Chadwick who won both of the final two races in the W Series championship at the weekend to clinch her second title. She beat fellow Brit Alice Powell to victory in a couple of great drives in Austin as the W Series concluded its season supporting the F1 race at COTA. As well as the prize money, she also gets super-licence points which could help her get into F1. Down in 13th place was another British driver, Abbie Eaton, who you may have seen as the test driver in 'The Grand Tour'.
