JJ retiring!? As always, thanks for the updates Spike.

Well y'all I am still here. I just haven't been on the computer or HNet for awhile. I hope all is well with you all. I just dropped by to have a look around...

And well...this 48 fan is heart broken to hear that Jimmie Johnson is stepping away from racing FULL time after 2020. First Jeff Gordon and now Jimmie Johnson. :(  I can't say I am too surprised...the writing was on the wall that the end was near (whether or not he wanted to admit it), but still sad all the same. I am grateful for another season with Jimmie Johnson...hope it is a great year for him.

Roger - you'll be glad to hear that, Chase Elliott is next in line on my favorite list of drivers. So he will be my solo driver that I will be following come 2021. I've always had a couple of drivers to follow. . .Gordon and Johnson. Then Johnson and Elliott. Now just Elliott...he better not retire for another thirty years or so. ;)

As my normal NASCAR offseason...I'm counting down to Daytona. I'm so ready for NASCAR to be back...and baseball.

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment but..........This is fantastic! A new Chase Elliott fan. Chase's father was mentioned on the episode "Undercover Dukes" so every Dukes fan should be a Chase Elliott fan.....and he's a Georgia boy just like Bo and Luke. Chase will be around a long time so you picked the right guy. It's so good to hear from you cuz!

Nascar Decade in Review Most Memorable Quotes https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2019/12/16/nascar-decade-in-review-most-memorable-quotes-of-the-2010s/ Some funny stuff

Roger I've been a fan since I was about 4-5 years old. One of my earliest memories was watching Richard Petty win his 200th at the July 4th Daytona race in 1984 with my Grandpa who was a huge fan of Richard Petty's. There were some years where I'd just watch the major races such as Daytona, Talledega, Bristol and Darlington and others where I'd try and watch most races.

I've been a Chase Elliott fan since before he was in NASCAR just because I knew he was going to replace Jeff Gordon when he retired...he just has been my main driver as he will be when Johnson retires.

I am so ready for Daytona y'all. It's not even funny!

Daniel Suarez will be driving the Gaunt Bros Racing #96 Toyota for 2020 https://sports.yahoo.com/dropped-stewart-haas-driver-suarez-182053261.html

Kyle Busch will be making his Sports car racing debut this weekend at the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona. He'll be driving the #14 Lexus RC F GT3. For the first time in a really long time the beginning and end will be broadcast on an OTA network so check your local NBC station's schedule. Coverage starts at 1:30pm eastern Saturday and will end on Sunday noon -2pm eastern on NBC, in between it will air on NBCSN and NBC Gold streaming service.

Nascar Traditionalists ya better enjoy this season of Nascar as it looks like it will be the last with a manual transmission. For the 2021 next gen car it looks like they will be going with a sequential shifter, basically push forward for upper gears and backwards for lower gears. https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/01/16/nascar-next-gen-car-erik-jones-miami/

Well the 2020 Nascar silly season has started with Kevin Harvick signing a 2 year contract extension with SHR https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/02/08/kevin-harvick-nascar-stewart-haas-racing/

Tony Stewart has a videogame coming out soon https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/02/05/tony-stewart-sprint-car-racing-nascar/

I hope next weeks Daytona 500 isn't like yesterdays Clash. What a demolition derby and a stupid joke of a finish.

Here's the latest news on the Next Gen Cup Car https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/03/02/william-byron-austin-dillon-joey-logano-erik-jones-nascar-nextgen-test-auto-club-speedway-fontana/

An official told NBC Sports the move was driven by the new 18-inch aluminum wheels (3 inches bigger than the current wheel) that will be used with the NextGen car, which will make its debut with the 2021 season, and are intended to increase product relevance for manufacturers.

Yet they are dropping 4 lugnuts  Don't see no cars on the road with just one lug nut except ones with very shaky rides lol.

With several vendors having been selected that will be the exclusive suppliers for the NextGen car, the P3 will feature some of the parts and pieces from the companies that will play a major role in the 2021 rollout. The car will be as close as possible to what NASCAR intends to race before vendors begin producing in bulk for teams.

Looks like several people will be without a job come the day after the final race this season as teams will no longer need Chassis builders or the ones that build the bodies.

If any of you guys are interested in seeing what racing with the next gen car will be like I recommend checking out a V8 Supercars race or two, you can find several videos on youtube. From what I've read it sounds like that is the most similar current race car at the moment, they have 1 lug wheels, sequential transmissions and v8's; major difference is they have the steering wheel on the right side.

Tony Stewart is climbing back behind the wheel of an Xfinity car this July 4th weekend for the Indy road course race https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/03/04/tony-stewart-indianapolis-motor-speedway-nascar-xfinity/ I'm looking forward to this race :D

Next years Busch Clash will be run on the Road Course at Daytona https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/03/04/daytona-speedweeks-schedule-2021-busch-clash-moves-to-road-course/ Wonder if we'll see more cars finish than this years Clash.

And by "the right side", you mean the correct side. ;)

Nascar has joined all the other sports organizations and postponed the Atlanta and Homestead races. Indycar today announced all races in March and April have been cancelled. Which also means Jimmie Johnson will not be testing an indycar. F1 also cancelled the Australian Grand Prix.

I didn't know that. Last I knew they were having it without spectators.....but that was the trend at the time. Things change so quickly these last 2 days.

I was looking forward to this race to escape from all this insanity.

F1 has postponed races till the end of May.

IMSA has postponed races till May.

NHRA has postponed the Gator Nationals this weekend, haven't decided on future events yet.

I was looking forward to the first F1 race of the season tomorrow. It seems that fans were already at the gates of the track when they cancelled it yesterday.

Nearly all sporting events are off over here, although my brother still got to see a lower league soccer match in the UK today.
