I don't know how creative you want to call it. I like the song but it's mainly because of the use of the Lynard Skynard song. It's the beat that I enjoy. If this were my only exposure to Kidd Rock, then I would say a definite 'no' on the creative side but I have heard more of his stuff so he does have a bit of talent. But honestly, borrowing so generously from 'Sweet Home Alabama' is a bit like painting moustache on the Mona Lisa and calling it an original work as well.

I agree with that 1000%. That is a good assessment of the song and Kid Rock. It is a catchy song and is getting a ton of airplay , especially here in Michigan.

BUT my complaint about the song is the reference to "smoking funny stuff" , I don't know why but it bothers me otherwise I like the song. Ironic coming from someone who loved the DOH 05 movie (hated the drug references in the movie too).I guess it is the same situation.

Yes, I happen to like this song. I'm not from MI but I'm rather close and the culture here is pretty close to MI. For me the song brings up old memories of a time that was very simple, fun and helped me to grow up.

I agree with Capt. I don't like the 'smoking funny things' in there because it makes it sound like everybody smokes or that everyone has tried Mary Jane and it's ok to try it once. I'm not a prude but come on, not everyone has smoked funny things. The funniest thing I have smoked was a menthol cigarette. I didn't see what was so cool about smoking it so I never got into the habit of smoking.

However, I like the song. It hits home for me. If only life could sometimes be that simple and fun all the time.

I kind of like this song...shocked a couple of friends a few weeks ago when I said it as it came on - since I'm normally not into Kid Rock...but this one just got me. I agree with Lukas_KD, it's a great song to tap your toes to - and those are my favorite at this time of year.

I have to admit this is a catchy song even though I'm not a kid rock fan. I agree with Capt Redneck and Val about the smoking part...it's too bad that had to be in there.

Another thing I wasn't crazy about was the video. It had about 100 girls in bikinis and they all weighed 100 pounds each. I would have been happier with a little more clothes and a little more pounds. But I'm old fashioned.

Speaking of videos, I was really disappointed with the "Holler Back" video. I can't even think of who sings it. That GREAT song could have been such a great video to have some real back woods scenes in it but instead they were singing in front of some tall office buildings or something.

Them boys should put a little more country in their country music video.

I've heard this song in passing on the radio and only recognize it because I think I'm hearing "Sweet Home Alabama" or "Werewolves of London" and then I realize it's $#@!&% Kid "I Ain't Straight Outta Compton, I'm Straight Outta the Trailer" Rock.

Get my hopes up that it's one of the other two songs and then get let down.

The only other songs by him that I know are...

"COWBOOYYYYY!!!" (With the top let back and the sunshine shining....) of which I don't know all of what he's singing and I just looked up the lyrics and that was more than I needed to know. Gee whiz...

And then there's that song he did with Sheryl Crow that gets played to death on the adult contemporary station here.

Needless to say, I ain't much of a fan.

Ok I was writin this post the other night and my whole computer decided to freeze up and so I lost everythang I typed...Anyways I like the song "All Summer Long" I aint sure why but I like it...The whole smokin funny things dont bother me...even though I see no point in smokin anything, and why people do I will never get but it dont bother me in the song. I'll admit the tune is catchy and it is upbeat...but I am not a fan of the song nor of Kid Rock. I can't see him or Jessica Simpson as being country, but that is of my own opinion. Then again, country isn't the country it use to be either.

How true is that statement? As I walk the halls of my high school, or even walk the streets here where I live, I hear nothing appealing to the ears. Same thing goes for Movies or t.v. shows, there's nothing any more. Everything either has to have cussing, violence, or pornographic images in it. Or it relays a message that makes no sense at all. Now, don't get me wrong, I let a few cuss words fly myself, I'm violent at times..LOL... but t.v shows and music, a lot of things this day and time is simply ludicris (if i spelled that right) though, this is only my opinion. Don't get me wrong with my post, I am a big Country music fan and I do listen to the modern music that is out there. . .Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw, are my favorites. But it is still not the Country that everyone knew and listened to several years ago...they'd probably go call most of those Rock or easy rock or something like that. So perhaps it shouldn't be surprising to see Country Music opening their doors for rock artists. . . (Once again, this being of my opinion)

Most of that stuff couldn't be confused with rock but some could. Islands in the Stream comes to mind. That was a great crossover song.

If we ever get a retro country station where I live, I'll plaster my car with hundreds of bumper stickers to advertise for them and never listen to any other station.

You know what's sad? My husband called into a radio station to request some Charlie Pride and two things happened. The DJ said "who?" and then went to go and find a song by him only to come back and tell us they didn't carry Charlie Pride. It was a disappointing day in the Lee household

I do have hope for the future though. I don't know how old you are (I'm 48) but as folks like us get older, I think the demand for retro country is going to increase and radio station owners will see that demand. If they think they can make a profit by expanding and starting an oldies country station then they'll make the investment. Let's keep our fingers crossed and don't be afraid to be vocal and let station owners know that the demand is there.

That is sad...and surprising. I never had anything like that happen before, but a long while ago, I had called in requesting Waylon's "Good Ol' Boys" (You know, you can never have enough Waylon. My opinion) and they didn't have that song. I found it kinda ironic because a couple of years after that when Waylon had died...I was living in Oklahoma at this time. . . my sister heard "Good Ol' Boys" on her radio station and she listens to rock! I am back to where I once lived and I do believe I heard them play that song once on the radio, so they must've gotten it along the way or they just didn't feel like playing it back then. Who knows. . .

I wouldn't mind a little mix of the two. Oldies and the current songs. Well some of them. I like Kenny Chesney, Keith Uban, Tim McGraw, and Alan Jackson. I also like Toby Keith, but am not a big fan of the last couple of songs he has gotten out. But I agree...I think Country should play some of the older stuff as well. I get excited when I hear the older stuff on the radio. Like today on my way home from work, I turned onto the country station to get the last part of Eddie Rabbit's "I love a Rainy Day" I love that song!
