Lucifer was a Mustang.
Hmm. Makes me wonder. In the first TV reunion movie, the "Double Zero" was referred to as the only car to have ever beaten the General Lee in an overland road race.
Well, none of us had ever seen or heard of any Double Zero.
But, "Lucifer" did beat the General Lee in "Lukes Love Story." Both Lucifer and the Double Zero are Mustangs.
I get the feeling that the kinder, gentler scriptwriters of the TV reunion movies didn't want to have a name like "Lucifer" in there. Could explain a lot.
Or maybe I'm giving them too much credit, and they just made up some crap on the fly.

The dixie horn set through JC Whitney is kinda big, for those of you driving modern cars, with no elbow room in the engine bay. (Or for those of you lucky enough to be driving around with a 454.)
Here's something to consider with installation of the big-horn kits. If you have any kind of an open grill on the car, and you've got the horns placed upwards, beware of rain/snow getting in there and shorting those suckers out.
I had a dixie horn in a '76 Olds Cutlass once, and not bein' the wiser, had the horns installed in the front of the car, between bumper n' radiator. The open part of the horns were right beneath the center grill, and I didn't think about moisture getting into them.
Until one day the damn horn shorted out and caused an electrical fire.
Years later, when installing the same kind of horn in my beloved '67 Impala, I made sure that @#$&* horn was set back a ways. Fortunately, the engine bay in the Chevy is huge, and it mounted perfectly over the inside wheel well, by the...whatsit. I dunno, it's over there on the right and it's plenty loud.

Dukes of Hazzard toy marketing this year is alive and well !
The new 1:18 sale RC General Lee ( 27 MHz) features box art with the new Duke faces - along with Jessica's boobs right above the logo. The car itself is a lot of fun, and worth the price. It's not an ERTL product, though - it's made by "Malibu International." And of course it's made in China. Walmart seems to have the market cornered on this baby. If anyone else carries it, I haven't been able to find it.
Walmart is also carrying JoyRide/ERTL "Hot Pursuit" 3-car sets. ERTL has produced these faithfully for years. The packaging is updated - No rebel flag on the blister pack. But on the back of the package, there is a cast photo of the original Dukes, along with good ol' bad Boss and Rosco. I was happy to see that.
I know that ERTL also produced die-cast 1:18 scale General Lee's this year. I saw, but didn't buy, one of these earlier this year, and now I'm kickin' myself because I can't find it again. It was a "dirty" General, showing dirt around the back wheels and quarter panels. Looked cool.
Meanwhile, at least I've got some new toys.

I have to admit, I found this toy at Walmart, I bought it for myself, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. The car itself doesn't have a dixie horn, but there's a seperate little gadget that you can press a button on, to get it.
The car itself handles better and goes faster than I expected for the price. (Around thirty-five bucks.) A cute touch, is the little orange parking lamps in the front of the car actually work. So do the taillights when it's in reverse.
I have looked for the RC General Lee at other stores, but I have only found it at Walmart so far. So if you see one - you might want to buy it when you have the chance!

Awright, since the sequel prospects are in limbo - I think it's time we let everybody weigh in. I can't promise that this will shift the odds one way or the other. But looking back on our earliest movie posts, there were rumors about the General Lee having no flag, and there were debates about what music should be on the sountrack, ect.
I can't claim that anybody was listening to us. Lookin' back, though, and taking into consideration some of the media contacts we received...it's at least possible that somebody was. So let's make some noise, eh?
Maybe we'll send the string to our WB buddies and see what happens. If all else, it may amuse 'em!

Toss-up between Rosco and Daisy. Just based on the sheer volume of Rosco impersonations and Daisy Duke contests I've seen out there.
Tho' Boss Hogg can upstage anybody, given half a chance. (he'll take the rest. )

Looks like The Dukes are out of Coolant.
Near everyone associated with the film - which hasn't actually done too bad at the B.O - seems to have distanced themselves from the film faster than a chap wearing slippers around an Oil spill.
Though Jessica Simpson reportedly told Sky News a few weeks back that they were considering exporting Bo, Luke and Daisy to London for the sequel, Johnny Knoxville tells Moviehole that that's a load of garden soil. In fact, he's seemingly against a sequel.
Co-star Seann William Scott tells Dark Horizons that he's not very keen on returning to Hazzard County either.
"There's a lot of hateful people about that film too", laughs Scott. "It made a lot of money, which is great, but I don't think well do a sequel for it. The reviews are so bad. I think they're just psyched they made a bunch of money. They could have had they made a more conscious effort to make it funny throughout the whole film instead of just 20 minutes of funny and then a bunch of cool car stuff".
Though Jay Chandrasekhar, director of the film, seems a little optimistic, telling IESB.net that if the film does well on DVD and still has a fan-club by the time it's been and gone, he might do a sequel - he seems a lot keener to do a sequel to his comedy hit "Super Troopers" (2002).
Chanrasekhar (would that even fit on a ballot form?) tells the site that he and the rest of the 'Broken Lizard' gang (the comedy troupe he starred in the film with) are keen on doing "Super Troopers '76", which would fix on the fathers of the characters from the original.
First though, he's doing "Beer Games", a movie about the secret underground beer games in Munich. It's about, “5 man international teams having beer games, not to the death but something close.â€
So what's the message here folks? Hire the "Dukes" when it comes on DVD - and get your sequel.

Oh, that one! Now that's an official ERTL product, and as such, outta be hitting the major retail stores for Christmas.
I haven't noticed it in stores yet, but then again, I haven't done a toy aisle cruise in at least...oh, two weeks.
I'm gonna see if I can find this. I want one!

Found it on ebay. Looks like a custom-made job...that ain't even done yet. Seller says it'll be done by end of October or early November? Seller is also a newer ebay member, doin' business since Feb 2005.
It looks interestin', but it ain't an "offical" product. Don't expect a warranty. Would be fun to have though, wouldn't it?

Awright, group therapy!! Here we go.
Your subconcious mind naturally brings up things, places and people that you spend a lot of your wakin' hours on. For example, I dream about my day gig a lot. Sad but true.
But, I offset dread responsibility with intense goofin' around in all that is Hazzard. So I've had car-chase dreams too. And if I'm working on a fanfic for months on end, it's not unusual for a scene to end up in a dream - messed up and weird, but recognizable.
Beware of dreamin' about those General Lee jumps, though. Ever dream that you're falling? Imagine dreaming about falling with a car, with the nose pointed down, and the car is starting to flip over on it's roof. I think that one was a "9" on the cardiac-to-wake-up-to scale. Yeeeek!!

Howdy there, welcome to HazzardNet!
Yeah, I've been to Covington, tho' it was back in....oh, 1999. It was cool seeing the courthouse that was used in the first few eps. Also got to see the original Boar's Nest building, the junkyard, and I drove around on some of the same roads that were used in filming. Lotsa fun.
Probably wouldn't make the trip again, since Atlanta has sprawled out so much that Covington is practically eaten up as a suburb. The town square, however, is charming enuff that I might be tempted. Was there still an Ace Hardware store on the square? Man, they had the best praline fudge. Homemade, sold out of a little pan right by the cash register. Yummy.

The consistent generosity of the Dukes balanced out the never-ending greed of ol' Boss Hogg. Between the two philosophies, Hazzard County broke even.
That aside, the Dukes often had problems that money alone wouldn't solve. Things like, ex-cons taking the entire family hostage, aliens dropping in, amnesia and/or hypnosis affecting behavior of a loved one, ect. Overcoming this kinda stuff makes ya less reliant on ready cash.
Also, the Dukes didn't have much, but they shared what they had - demonstrating an overall belief that they were blessed "as is" and shared their monetary blessings with others at every opportunity. Recycling good, as it were.
Ya know, the best way to get to the bottom of this debate is to try the behavior for yerself! Most of us would probably find that if you gave away money to a worthy cause every week - be it the coin drop at restaurants and ice cream shops, church donations, charity drives, whatever - you would probably have just as much money when everything all balanced out, if not more.
Good stuff does tend to come back to ya. Not only that, but when regular donating becomes part of yer psyche, you spend less on useless stuff and junk, because The Big Picture starts taking over. You get smarter with your money.
Also, you never know when you yerself could suddenly be on the receivin' end of somebody else's goodwill. I think the Dukes, living close to the edge and having outrageous problems for average country folk, were keenly aware of this.

My deepest sympathy. This is going to be a hard time for you and for everyone who knew your friend. Just be there for as many them as you can.
Do what you can for your friend's family. Whenever you can. Remember them and you'll be remembering your friend.
