  1. MaryAnne, you carry a gun, and that's pretty damn dangerous. Hell, when you sit behind the control panel of HazzardNet, that's dangerous. Besides, you can get a good cattle prod at Farm & Fleet for about twenty bucks.
  2. Taser? You haven't altogether mastered the tv remote control. I ain't sure carryin' around 50,000 volts on your hip is a good idea.
  3. Keep that toy outta the bathtub. Meanwhile, I've got pressing business elsewhere that's demanding my immediate attention, soyouhavefunandI'llseeyalater BYE! *zoom!* *slam*
  4. Reactions, in same order as above: 1) Bahahaha! Yeah, Hazzard road construction crews never have a dull moment. Of course, they always seem to be basically pilling up huge mounds of dirt for no apparent purpose, or laying huge drainage pipes in the middle of nowhere. Makes ya wonder what the blueprints called for. 2) Gah! I thought the State Patrol was supposta weigh trucks and cruise aimlessly up and down the interstate. The municipal cops have dibs on smacking kneecaps. Though I suppose Hazzard has enough bad guys wandering through town to accommodate everybody. On an aside - what I wouldn't give to have seen Rosco with a taser.
  5. Is it safe to come out yet? MaryAnne wields a mean noodle..... Oh, by the way. I haven't done diddly-squat around here in the past two weeks. I love this job! It's like havin' a license to be lazy.
  6. Tim, thanks for clarifying that. I do recall the original "Here's who you might meet" phrase on an earlier version of the site. And in another thread , there was a remark to the effect of not every contract is locked in. But now there was supposedly never any doubt that all the orignal cast was locked in. Whatever.... At this point it doesn't matter, it's just the fact that for all the pretty pictures, the message itself was never very clear. Except for that announcement about Adam West - which irritated more fans than just me. But dissent ain't permitted in certain circles, is it? I've seen the recent commentary, and the tone of Ye Olde DF Webmaster comes across a bit condenscending. Doesn't bother me none, but hell I've seen members of his own site get a fry pan upside the head for daring to disagree with him - from fellow members of the same site. Feedback should have a place. Spirited disagreements, so long as they don't degrade into name-calling and cussing, are a natural part of any message board. So the dispariging tones and the squelch efforts kind of amaze me. Given the history of the organization and the charity purpose it used to serve. I do wish DukesFest all the success in the world, and ultimately the thousands of paying fans going through the gate will be the ones voting on what works and what doesn't. Voting with hard-earned cash that's especially precious in the current economy. That's really what drives my promotional disagreements, because I don't think anybody can sit back and just blindly expect 50,000 people to show up at the gate this year.
  7. Alex can do whatever he wants - so long as he doesn't do it here! And now, back to squabbling with MaryAnne, which is one of my own job duties. As a downtrodden, lesser-ranked member of HNet's administrative team, I'm obligated to create as much discord and disruption possible, so that MaryAnne can look busy with doing damage control. (Which means, I should put an inappropriate remark here, closely following my previously censored comment. ) Alex, you've always wanted to be an official member of the HNet staff. Here's a question for ya: Assuming you would know what to do with yourself as a moderator - do you have any "hands on" experience? And are you a self-starter?? Do you find satisfaction in your workday?
  8. Hey, anybody can drop a muffler. Or an entire dual exhaust system. Happens to the best of us.
  9. He could go join a Knight Rider forum! Or...a Stargate message board! Better yet, become the moderator of a MacGyver fan site! And as far as Alex not knowing what to do with himself --
  10. Dukefan, there's always a few Canadians who make it down to DukesFest. There's a good couple months until DF is on - it's the end of June this year. Any possibility you could scrape up a plane ticket, fly down for a long weekend or something? Believe me, expenses being what they are right now for basics like gas n' groceries - it's not an easy trip for anybody to make this year. But like you said, it's something worth seeing. I went to my first DF on a thin dime. I drove there in a beat-up 77 Olds Cutlass, I stayed at the cheapest, seediest motel I could find, and I brought my own food. And beer. And bbq grill. At the event, I managed to buy a couple of photos and get a few autographs, and I had just enough gas money to get home. ( several states away.) As a bonus, I drove 13 hours straight to get there, and 13 hours direct back home, as I couldn't get more than a 1/2 day off work the preceeding Friday. I had to be back to work on Monday, and I'll tell ya, I rolled into town tired. But I had a blast. The immoral of the story is, if you wanna go bad enough, maybe you can find a way. I hope you can - you're a dedicated fan and you deserve it.
  11. Thanks for the background story on this Charger! You made yourself one heck of an investment when you nabbed it for $1500. I haven't seen a project Charger that cheap in....well, like you said, it has to be 10 years. I do follow your progress here - I don't always take the time to comment depending on how full my day is, but I enjoy watching it come together.
  12. Happy Birthday MaryAnne! I can't believe it's that time of year again. It's like they say...time flies when you're having fun.
  13. You're supposed to be taking it easy. It ain't a leave of absence if you haven't left. In any case, welcome back, if you're back. If you're not back...then, whenever you leave, I'll look forward to your return.
  14. My job is very important, and I am proud of it. But I'm also proud of dodging as much work as possible, while holding as much power as I can grab. I've been after MaryAnne's job for a long time, ya know. Tho' I've realized, I'm not even sure what her job is. Other than to make sure I'm working. If we eliminated MaryAnne's position, it would lead to greater efficiencies around here, because without the middleman I could simply yell at myself.
  15. Put down the Pepsi, boy! Ain't no outsourcin' goin' on with my gig! I see what the scheme is now. MaryAnne figures to parcel out a few of my duties here and there, and before I know it -- pow! I'm replaced. Tho' it would be nice to have a secretary. Or five or six of 'em. Tho' again, I'd run the risk of not having enough work of my own to do, and then suddenly finding myself un-essential. And unemployed. On another note, if MaryAnne's position here is for life....I have to wonder, what she did to deserve the sentence. Bahahaha.
  16. Yes, there's a good reason. MeadowMufn is on a leave of absence for a couple weeks, so there's only been two of us Administrative types to ignore the place. So it was one of those things MaryAnne and I had to let go of, in order to keep up our ignorance on other fronts. Believe me, I wish we coulda found the time for April Fool's, I had a real corker up my sleeve.
  17. I gotta say this much. At least MaryAnne uses the lights and siren when she parks, so everybody can clear outta the way.
  18. Awright, maybe I'm not so great at housekeeping details. That's evidenced enuff by the fact I never delete old, inactive threads from the Forums. I'll admit it. Fine. Ya got me. And just for spite, I bought the last Nestle' Crunch out of the vending machine and left you the Clark bar nobody can stand. So thhpbthpbth!! Yeah, I've got 1,683 posts, with this one. Thing is, a good number of those 1,683 posts were in answer to you, MaryAnne. It's no wonder I don't get anything done. I'm always too busy defending myself. Rather than taking the carrot-and-stick approach and always applying the stick, maybe you should try another tactic if you want quicker results around heah. Say like....switching rank with me. I wouldn't ask for more than that, as long as it gives me complete and total control of HazzardNet. Then, you'd have plenty of time for those housekeeping issues, like re-stocking the vending machine, and keeping the bathrooms tidy, and picking up all the empty Pepsi cans around the office. Along with getting my dry cleaning and bringing over my lunch. That would really clear up my schedule, and enable me to get to all these important news items I'm so backlogged on. Makes total sense, doesn't it? And because you appreciate the importance of deadlines, I'll give ya 24 hours to reply to my demand. Er, request. Brian
  19. Daney, thanks for bringing up one more thang that I'm behind on. GAH!! Anyhow, Roger, I updated the Ben Jones/ Cooter section on the Forums, with that bit o' information. In a nutshell, Ben's band is doing a charity gig next month in Sperryville VA. And now, I must fire a return volley. 'Scuze me....
  20. For the very latest on what ol' Cooter is up to, visit his site directly at www.cootersplace.com . Here's one of the latest announcements from his website: May 25th 2008 from 12pm - 5pm Cooter’s is having a “Sperryville Celebration†To Benefit The Links (A local nonprofit community organization). Cooter will be returning to Sperryville, VA for one afternoon. There will be a concert with Cooter’s Garage Band along with a meet and great with Ben “Cooter†Jones, Just Like The Old Days. It will be held at the Rappahannock County Community Center in Sperryville, VA (Old School House) Tickets will be $10 for Adults, $5 Kids (6-12) and Kids 5 and under are free. With More Info To Come!!!
  21. I drank all the Pepsi. Ya snooze, ya loose. Maybe we should put your name over the Pepsi button, so from now on it's a can of MaryAnne for a mere seventy-five cents. I'm workin' on the General Lee article, and the DukesFest promo. Since when do we have deadlines? DukesFest ain't until the end of June this year, so the way I see it, I had three or four extra weeks right there. And is it really necessary to put an "or else" on your posts in order to get my attention? Just because I've ignored your private messages, your emails, and I didn't return your phone call doesn't mean I'm not payin' attention, ya know.
  22. Welding? On a good day, I get all fired up and maybe change the oil by myself, or fill up the washer-wiper thing with cleaning solution... So you have my admiration. Question for you - where did you find your project Charger? Do you mind sharing how much it cost? I'm working on an article about the General Lee replica market, and it would be great to include any tips you have about finding a good project car. Thanks!
  23. Usually a cast member will sign anything you actually buy off of his or her merchandise table, at no extra charge. If you're bringing something with you, plan on a minimum of $5 to $10 bucks for each cast member's autograph. Each cast member usually has his or her own autograph policy, and policy can change the day of the event, depending on the size of the crowds. Dukesfest can get expensive and the lines for autographs are long. I recommend bringing a comfortable backpack to wear, that has separate compartments. Pack bottled waters and snacks in one section, and have another compartment set aside for autorgraphed photos and what have ya. The main complaint I've had with DukesFest over the past umpteen years, is that the food vendors are few and far between and prices are way high. Last DukesFest, a cold hot dog and a warm pepsi cost me like seven bucks. All that said - it's a blast and it's worth the trip. Have fun!
  24. What's a little vee-hicular mayhem between friends? Heh heh. Actually I'm very careful with my car. Well, mostly. I do have a 67 Impala in real life, to put it that way. And I've done stupid things with it, very stupid things. Nowadays, I'm much more careful. Back to MaryAnne... she's a good driver. Really. But she can't parallel park to save her life. In fact, she struggles anytime there's a parking space with lines painted on either side and the car has to fit between them. I mean, thank goodness Walmart parking lots are huge because she can kinda sprawl the car out in a diagonal and make it work. Yeah, if it wasn't for the "P" on the gear shift display, she'd forget to park altogether, and just get outta the car and let it mosey off in neutral to fend for itself. Wherever it ended up stopping on it's own, that'd be parking. *bonk!* Heh! Good thing MaryAnne isn't watching this thread.
  25. I know I'm spending too much time here when I'm answering my own posts. Ah well, I'm too lazy to update the homepage so this'll have to do in a pinch. Looks like Byron Cherry was the most recent, big announcement for DukesFest. To his credit, Byron treats the fans very well and has a smile for everybody. And lo and behold...looks like the Dukes cast appearance confirmations are finally getting communicated. How 'bout 'dat. Adam West is mentioned at the bottom of the list, which is more appropriate. Looks like the musical acts are still getting organized, but I reckon it'll get sorted out in the upcoming couple of weeks. ( Thus far nothing else is confirming the State Line Mob, but nothing is disproving it, either.) We'll update our homepage soon and help spread the hoopla. Now that we have a better understanding of what the hoopla is. Then again, the current promoters of DF may not want or need HNet endorsement 'cause they got their own crew handling things. We should probably let the pros handle it. Since we're pretty lazy anyway. And how would they gauge the effectiveness of their own online promos, if we got involved and started throwing thousands of visitors their way? Who'd want that?
