HossC got a reaction from Rollman in James Best movie
Thanks for revisiting the subject, Roger. For anyone who missed it first time around, we discussed the movie when it came out in 2013. You can see that discussion here.

The movie was written by Janeen and Michael Damian - that's James Best's daughter and son-in-law. Again for those who may not know, Janeen played Mary Lou in "A Baby for the Dukes".

It was Reginald D Hunter who I saw tonight. I was going to post a video of his stand-up, but most of it contains a fair amount of swearing, so I decided to go for an interview instead (there's a little of his stand-up in the middle).

Danica was driving an Indy car in  the Indy 500 yesterday. Although Indy and Formula 1 cars are both open-wheeled, that's about as far as the silmilarities go. It was IndyCar where Danica originally made her name, before she switched to NASCAR. I don't follow IndyCar, but the commentators mentioned that the cars had lower downforce than previously at this year's race, and most of the crashes were cars spinning while following in the "dirty" air of other cars.

I got to see most of the Indy 500. Who would've thought that both races would have Aussie winners? Congratulations to Daniel Ricciardo and Will Power.

HossC got a reaction from Roth Potter in Have you ever seen a General Lee?
I recently discovered that they've made two seasons of a French version of Wheeler Dealers with Gerry and Aurélien (instead of Mike and Edd/Ant). By the end I was starting to recognize more and more of the car parts in French, despite last studying the language over 30 years ago and forgetting most of the little I knew since then.

Thanks for posting the video, Roth. It's good to see Tom enjoying himself in Europe again. I think he likes meeting Dukes fans - the owners of General Lee replicas I met at last year's American car show had both met him. He's certainly quite happy to talk about the show, and is very generous with his time.

Even more so if Roger's the first one to post it!

I haven't bothered to read up on the subject, but they were discussing it on the radio earlier. Apparently, the "Laurel" sound is at a lower frequency and the "Yanni" is at a higher frequency. Older people tend to hear "Laurel", although if you listen to the clip for a long time, some people who originally heard "Laurel" start to hear "Yanni".

HossC got a reaction from Garrett Duke in NASCAR Faces!
A lot of these drivers were well before I took an interest in NASCAR, and I don't tend to watch/read much outside the actual races, so I'm quite pleased with 30/47. Two of them I got because of Dukes, and I'll credit another three to Garrett .

Some of the questions were lazy - I counted three where two of the wrong answers were the same as each other, another had Danica Patrick as a possible answer for a picture of a male driver, and my favorite where the driver's name was on his car in the background!

This is a Ben Jones quote rather than Cooter. In the season 6 DVD extra 'Back Where We Started: The Real Hazzard County' Ben and Sonny are reminiscing about the first time they saw Cathy.
Ben says 'I tell you ... first time ... I said that girl'd make a bulldog break its chain, make a freight train go up a dirt road, make the deacon drop his bible.'
It was great seeing how they still got on so well after 27 years.

I know that this is a very old thread, but it seemed silly to start a new one.
I was watching the 1965 movie "The Loved One" earlier, and spotted a familiar face playing the lead. Here's Robert Morse, aka. Dewey Hogg, as Dennis Barlow.

The movie's a rather strange yet enjoyable satire on the funeral business in Los Angeles. It dates from two years before "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", the Robert Morse movie which had its title parodied in his Dukes episode, "How to Succeed in Hazzard".
In "The Loved One", Robert pulls off a quite convincing English accent throughout, although a brief attempt at what I took to be Scots isn't as good. There's quite a list of well-known co-stars, including Rod Steiger, Milton Berle, James Coburn, Sir John Gielgud, Roddy McDowall and a cameo for Liberace as a casket salesman. Additionally, Lionel "When they met...it was moider" Stander plays a newspaper staff writer masquerading as an advice guru, and Paul Williams (Little Enos in SATB) gets his first acting role as a boy genius rocket maker, despite being in his mid-20s at the time.

Going back to the original acronym in this thread, I was just on YouTube watching a stand-up routine from several years ago. The comedian said that she's amazed that she can now text her bank and they'll text back with her balance, although she thought the "LOL" was a bit harsh .

I've just found the video below on YouTube. While some of the content may be new to visitors, is it really a "shock" to Americans that the Irish are friendly and drive on the left? The video includes a few shots of the place where I live.

Assuming that you mean Southern US accents (as opposed to Southern Ireland), I think they're liked here, so long as they're not being used to aggressively quote lines from 'Deliverance' .

Although Ireland's much smaller than the US in terms of size and population, it still has very definable regions. You may have noticed that the accents video referred to Cork as "The People's Republic of Cork", which is just a nickname implying that it's like another country. I don't know who's currently the butt of the jokes in the US (I'm afraid it was the Irish when I was in the UK), but over here they're told about the Kerryman. I could go on, but you get the idea.

I'll save you the trouble, Hobie. Here it is:

Funnily enough, there was a commercial showing recently in the UK that used Kenny Loggins' 'Danger Zone'. I'd forgotten it was on the 'Top Gun' soundtrack.

While we're talking '80s movie soundtracks, I recently re-watched 'Young Einstein', I think for the first time since I saw it at the cinema (almost 30 years ago!). I'd completely forgotten about the song 'Great Southern Land' by Icehouse. The video has more Australian scenery than a Super Bowl commercial :

Of course, 'Great Southern Land' probably has a different meaning to Dukes fans .

HossC got a reaction from Hobie Hartkins in Another Mistake I noticed
I just watched that part of the episode again to see what happens.

Bubba's driving the RV, and Squirt's in the back with Loretta and Leona (although Leona disappears after briefly appearing reflected in a mirror). Cindy peels out of the Boar's Nest parking lot and is seen quite close behind the RV in its next couple of appearances. After Bo and Luke crash into the haystack, the blue car is further behind the RV but still following. The car isn't shown in any of the shots of Loretta dropping the pictures - the inside shots only show the curtains at the window, and the exterior shots only show the rear of the RV. The only explanation for Cindy not spotting the pictures is that she either dropped further back or took a different route to the barn, but both seem unlikely given that the car is shown pulling into the barn just behind the RV.

On a related issue, I've just noticed that the window at the back of the RV where Loretta drops the pictures has light-colored curtains which split in the middle when viewed from the inside, but a dark-colored blind from the outside. Although it's possible to have both, the curtains let in too much lights for there to be a blind too.

Thanks, Roger, I've never heard that term before. I Googled a picture, and they look similar to our spring onions/scallions. Leeks are also related, but our leeks don't have bulbs on the end.

Tasmania is one of the states of Australia, and is only about 150 miles from the mainland. It's also home to the Tasmanian devil - yes, they're real, although they don't look much like the cartoon character!
