  1. IIRC they were just a single note, powered by an aerosol type can of compressed air, similar to the type you can use for airbrushes. There's a few on ebay (search 'bike air horn'), but they're all single note horns. The Dixie horn sets all use 5 separate horns. They seem to be €25-35, but I've no idea if they'd work on a bike - maybe you should visit a car accessory shop to see if they can help.

  2. It depends how big it is. I remember people having airhorns on bikes when I was younger. Is it a car horn, or is it made for bikes?. If it's reasonable compact, and not likely to get stolen, I'd say go for it.

  3. What are you planning?

  4. I don't know about the James Garner movie, but the tunnel from the original run of Dukes was in 'Witness for the Persecution' in season 2. Here's the line you remembered: This tunnel is on Soledad Canyon Road, a few miles east of Santa Clarita. It was also the tunnel that was used in Steven Spielberg's movie 'Duel'. You can check it out on Street View here.
  5. When Rosco's RV is stolen, the chase is on. Bo and Luke spot it going through this tunnel and give chase. The tunnel is on Mount Hollywood Drive in Griffith Park - check it out here. Rosco and Cletus pick a different direction. This is the same intersection as above, but facing the other way. Some of the other shots, including the view of the Griffith Observatory, were filmed on the unpaved roads nearby. Rosco and Cletus's search leads them to this street. The stores may be new, but it's the same old New York Street set underneath. The street also seems to include every racial/social stereotype that the writers could think of (or get away with). Meanwhile, Bo and Luke's pursuit ends when they stop to 'even the odds' in a fight. The fight, the meeting with Cypriano and friends, and the General Lee jump all take place at the end of Silver Lake Boulevard - you can see it here. If you've clicked on the Street View link, you'll also see the house on the corner of Glenhurst Avenue where the block party takes place. The house where Bo picks up Gabriela is three houses down. It looks like the present owners aren't so keen on gardening.
  6. Hi knightprowl, welcome to HazzardNet, sorry I missed your post for a few days. I have no problem with you using my artwork for your GTA mod as long as you don't money from it (if you plan to make money, we need to talk ). I do plan some more signs, buildings and possibly vehicles in the near future, it's just that the Hazzard Square thread has been taking a fair bit of my time for the last couple of months - I'm nearly finished now. As you can appreciate, some of the vehicles and buildings take many hours of work (I'd hate to count them), so I glad you like them. If there's anything you'd like to see, let me know and I'll try to jump it up the list - no promises though. If you're after a particular sign, let me know which episode it's in so I can find it easily. With regard to your PMing problems, it looks like you must have turned off those options when you set up your account. If that's the case, follow the steps below: 1) Click on 'User CP' on the left of the menu bar (near the top of the screen). 2) Click 'Edit Options' (about half way down on the left). 3) Tick the boxes marked 'Enable Private Messaging' and 'Enable Visitor Messaging'. 4) Click 'Save Changes' at the bottom. If that doesn't work, post here again and one of the moderators will see it. Usually your first 10 or so posts are moderated.
  7. While, like Roger, I'm dubious of a new series, I thought I throw another name into the ring for Uncle Jesse's part. That man is the musician Seasick Steve. Ok, he's more of a bluesman than country, but here's some of the reasons I think he might work: 1) He already has the white beard and wears plaid shirts, bib and braces and John Deere caps. 2) Although he's originally from California, he spent some time living around the Mississippi and Tennessee area. 3) Success came to him late in life, and one of things he bought was a tractor - he says he's not into farming, but enjoys plowing. 4) He's a really down-to-earth guy, and I can't find a bad word written about him. I think most of his success has been in Europe, and I'm not sure how well known he is in the US, so here's a couple of interviews with him. Both feature different custom-made guitars he uses that were created from very unusual objects: Seasick Steve on Top Gear Finally, the man can play. Here's the performance that got him noticed. The song was also the title of his first successful album - "I started out with nothin', and I still got most of it left":
  8. Welcome to HazzardNet :).

  9. Lizzy and BL are both 4 years out, so I guess 1/2 a point each - the answer was 6 years as can be seen below: Today is also the 1st anniversary of me joining HazzardNet . Roger, I'm sorry, I've been getting screengrabs from 'Hazzard in Hollywood' for the last week (see the latest post in the Hazzard Square thread), so there's a couple of questions from that movie before I return to the series. Q. What was the name of Rosco's stuffed dog in 'Hazzard in Hollywood'?.
  10. Sorry the last part of this thread has taken a while, but I haven't forgotten 'Hazzard in Hollywood'. I've been busy sorting through all the pictures and tracking down locations. I'm going to go slightly off-topic with some of the posts and look at some of the other parts of LA that were used for filming. I'll start with a recognizable scene from Hazzard Square. The 6th Annual Hazzard Hoe-Down (featuring Toby Keith) takes place roughly between buildings 19 and 21. The house on the left is the one next to Boss's old house. In fact, this picture is very similar to the view of the arrival 'Double Zero' two pictures back. As for the rest of the square, it's obvious that the businesses have changed again, but the only one I could make out was a cafe, and I couldn't get a clear shot of that. When the Dukes, Cooter, Rosco and Cletus arrive in LA they start off with a bit of sightseeing. I've included four of the locations below. They were only filmed eleven years ago, and haven't changed that much. The first is the General and Rosco's RV turning onto Sunset Boulevard from North La Brea Avenue. El Pollo Loco has changed it's signage, but is still there - see Google Street View here. The second picture is Pacific's Cinerama Theatre on Sunset Boulevard. You can see that here. The third picture shows the 'Oldest Restaurant in Hollywood' - Musso & Frank Grill on Hollywood Boulevard. The trees have grown too much to show the sign from the same side, but the other side can be seen here. We're back on Sunset Boulevard for the last picture. The Directors Guild of America is here. I thought this one deserved to be full size. At last we see the famous Hollywood sign as the General heads up North Gower Street and is just about to cross Franklin Avenue. It's amazing what a difference a lens can make. The sign is clearly visible here, but on Street View the hills look much further away. The last four pictures are all in the same location, the corner of Riverside Drive and Whitsett Avenue (big clue in the second picture!). You can see all the views by spinning around the Street View. It looks like the store was a real liquor store that's still there today.
  11. Speaking of misheard lyrics ... there's a site I used to visit years ago that specializes in them. I've just checked, and it's still there at www.kissthisguy.com. The website's name is taken from a misheard Jimi Hendrix lyric - 'Scuse me, while I kiss this guy ...
  12. Ina, you keep reminding me of other German groups I know. Münchener Freiheit (known in the UK as just Freiheit) had a #14 hit in the UK in 1988 with 'Keeping The Dream Alive': I have to agree with the YouTube comments (from the original video I posted) - the vocals are almost a cross between some of Paul McCartney's solo work and ELO. Like Trio, Freiheit are also thought of as a one-hit-wonder in the UK. Maybe if you guys spoke English more often ... .
  13. Looks like you're on your own again Lizzy - Roger's obviously still nursing his sore head. Luckily you're right on both counts. Q. The 'Hazzard in Hollywood' movie starts with the annual hoe-down. How many years had it been going?: A) 2 years 4 years C) 6 years D) 8 years E) 10 years F) 12 years

  15. Five O'Clock World - The Vogues The video I've posted is actually an intro from 'The Drew Carey Show'. I always enjoy hearing this song, although I first got to know it through Julian Cope's version. He added extra lyrics and included the bridge from here:

  17. I've just listened to "Alles hat ein Ende nur die Wurscht hat zwei" - I liked that one. I think Trio's only UK hit was Da Da Da - maybe it's the only one with English lyrics. Have you seen from a Bulgarian talent show. The girl (Valentina Hasan) learned the Mariah Carey song 'Without You' without knowing any English. She thought the song was called 'Ken Lee' (Can't Live). We hear stories over here that David Hasselhoff's music is popular in Germany - is this true?.

  19. I've just listened to Leuchtturm on YouTube, but I've never heard it before. I think '99 Luftballon' was the only hit she had in the UK. I didn't believe you at first, but then I saw the 2009 version of 99 Luftballon on YouTube and have to agree. She even sings some of it in French now. I've not heard of Wir sind Helden, but I did remember some more German songs I have, mainly from the 70s/80s. I'd forgotten some because some/all the words are in English. From 1969: . He was born in Germany, but left in 1938. This is the original, although Hot Butter's 1972 cover is better known. From 1978: (English lyrics version of ). I see Rammstein have also covered it.From 1982: (roughly translated: I don't love you, you don't love me). Check out the weird early 80s video. From 1985: Propaganda - Frozen Faces. They mainly sang in English after moving to the UK and signing to the same record label as Frankie Goes to Hollywood (ZTT), but did throw in the odd line of German like "Ich fuerchte keine Einsamkeit" in this song. Their Jewel/Duel remix, , was used by the BBC for rally coverage in the 80s (see video). Their album 'A Secret Wish' was jointly the first that I bought on CD all those years ago, and I still love them now (warum schmerzt es wenn mein Herz den Schlag verpasst?/why does it hurt when my heart misses the beat?).I also remembered that I have the German version of Monty Python's Lumberjack song (Das Holzfäller-Lied). It came on the B-side of Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. I found on YouTube - the subtitles appear to be the original English lyrics rather than an exact translation of the German.
  20. roll Thanks Roger. Due to the combination of the words 'Solid' and 'Rock' I've had in my head all morning .
  21. You'll have to tell the Bundestag that the General Lee is a "vehicle of cultural value" .
  22. solid One of the common states of matter - I figured it would give more options than Bose-Einstein condensate .
  23. Well done Lizzy, it was Daisy. She had 'Duke' on the back of her jacket because that was the name of the graduate school she was studying at, making her (Daisy) Duke of Duke. Q. Still on 'Reunion', what was the name of Bo's female friend who gave him a lift to Hazzard?. For a bonus point, what title did she hold?.
  24. Maryland Maryland Cookies are a popular brand in the UK and Ireland. Despite being made to an American recipe, they are not sold in the US.
  25. Welcome to HazzardNet :).
