  1. Welcome to HazzardNet :).

  2. I can honestly say that I've never noticed it before. Maybe we didn't get all of the shows y'all had, but I bet I spot now I know what it is (I've already caught myself looking for it in one show!). Here's the last pictures from season 6. In 'Cooter's Confession' the hijacked trucks come from the 'Capitol City Distributing Co.'. I was expecting this to be building #17 at the back of the church (it's been used many times as a loading bay), but it's not. The building style did look familiar though ... A little later in the episode we see it from another angle. This time the top of the church is clearly visble in the background, meaning that this is the same set as Morgan's Glueworks (seen in 'The Revenge of Hughie Hogg') behind Boss's house, albeit with slight alterations. From the maps it looks like all of this set has been torn down now. At the other end of the loading dock is this house, the only part of the set that's still standing (I've arrowed it on the inset map). It's actually the back of the house two doors down from Boss's house (aka. the haunted house), which probably explains its survival. I think Boss's house is also now double sided so that it can play different buildings. The Duke boys later rent a truck from 'Tri-County Truck Sales & Rentals'. Although we never get a long shot of this, going by the style of the windows and the hills in the background, I'm pretty sure we are behind the church this time, but looking at building #16. Just like in 'Deputy Dukes', the road has a good covering of mud. The white truck on the right looks like a '76 or '77 Ford F-Series. Considering this episode must have been filmed in '83 or '84 it still looks like new.

The Speed Channel feature on the Lewis Hamilton/Tony Stewart car swap at Watkins Glen are now up on YouTube. It's split over 6 parts, the first is here: [HD] Lewis Hamilton & Tony Stewart - Seat Swap Special (Part 1) It's a shame they had damp weather, but both seemed to really enjoy the experience. Lewis Hamilton finished his NASCAR run with a few donuts before going back to the pits, and Tony Stewart didn't look like he wanted to come in with the F1 McLaren. With the conditions drying they even suggested putting slick tires on and going out again. Tony Stewart said afterwards "I told the guys on pit road out there that it's probably going to make my crew chief a little more stressed during the weekends because I'm going to want it to handle like that all the time. I don't think we're ever going to get it there."
  4. This one's from the beginning of 'Cooter's Confession' (while the credits are still coming up). The hijackers are preparing their ambush of the truck driven by Cooter's friend Jonas Jones. The truck is supposed to be a short distance away (out of sight) and traveling towards them, but it is clearly visible parked up at the right of the picture.
  5. Oh MaryAnne, you hurt me and you made me cry, but if you leave me I will surely die . Sorry, I get emotional giving points away. MaryAnne was correct, and I assume Roger's notebook was too. Here it is (new question below): Q. When Daisy has to share Enos's room at the boarding house in 'Close Call for Daisy', what does Enos hastily remove from his mirror?.

The car swap between Tony Stewart and Lewis Hamilton took place today. There's a few really short video clips on YouTube that look like they were taken on camera phones. The event is being screened in the US tonight at 8pm ET on Speed. Hopefully I'll get to see it on YouTube, because I've no idea when it'll be shown this side of the Atlantic. There's a trailer for the Speed showing here: [HD] Tony Stewart & Lewis Hamilton - Car Swap At Watkins Glen 2011
  7. In 'Close Call for Daisy', Daisy hides out with Enos in what is described as "the only boarding house in Hazzard". I guess that means that the 'Cottonwood Boarding House' from a few episodes back has now closed (or been forgotten). We get to see the house (building #21) three times, once at night, and the other two times it must have been dusk because the lighting was slightly odd. Each time the shot is framed so that no other buildings are visible, possibly to give the impression that it's not on Hazzard Square. This building has been a boarding house at least twice before, but gets new signage for this episode (inset). I think it says 'Weekly & Monthly Rates' and the name underneath is 'Mrs. Parker'. Daisy's nurse's outfit gets sent to the cleaners, along with Norman Willis's notebook. The cleaners is building #27 in French Street. There is also a business with yellow window signage in building #26, but the grabs I got were too blurry to read. Next door, in building #28, is a real estate office. It looks like it's the same one that appeared in 'Undercover Dukes Part 2' (see a few posts back). That time it was in Capitol City!. The final chase scene in 'Close Call for Daisy' takes place at an industrial site. After looking at several possible locations, I'm almost certain that it takes place at the San Fernando Valley Generating Station. It's not far from Warner's backlot and several surrounding landmarks tie in nicely, although the small lake where the cars get left seems to have dried up. Perhaps Mufn has some local knowledge to help out. See for yourself on Google Maps.
  8. Sounds like you have it Roger. I'll give another letter; it starts 'Ca', and it's one of these: A) Casey Carol C) Candy D) Carla E) Carrie F) Cathy
  9. I'll keep looking. If I get a better shot of building #19, I'll post it. I've been trying to get a clear picture of this sign over in the corner near O'Connor Paint Supply. It obviously says 'Surplus Furniture', but I still can't make out the name on it. It's been visible in the background in several episodes now. This picture, from 'How to Succeed in Hazzard', also shows the road that's next to O'Connor Paint Supply (mentioned a few posts back). It gets used several times in this episode. This picture is included because it shows the space next to Boss's house. In the background is what I think may be the back of the 'Morgan's Glueworks' building shown in this post. Here's building #25 painted in plain white. It only appears in the background in this episode and displays no signage. In one shot there's a car driving into it, suggesting it may be a garage. Does Cooter have competition in Hazzard?. Building #6 hasn't appeared in this thread since it got a makeover a couple of seasons back. I've only included it here because it has a 'For Sale' sign in the window. Dewey Hogg comes around the front of it after he gets out of the bank vault.
  10. If you want something a bit different, there's a guy selling a stunt tow truck from the 2005 movie. It apparently comes with authenticating documentation. The current bid is $4,500, but the reserve is not met yet. 1973 Chevrolet Other Pickups STUNT
  11. Lucky 'wild guess' MaryAnne, sorry BL. It was $29.99 - what a bargain!. Q. The first California episode, 'Swamp Molly', saw the one and only appearance of a jewelry store next to Rhuebottom's. What was the name of its owner?. I think y'all know by now which thread the answer can be found in. I'll do a multiple choice if no one gets it.
  12. Thanks CD. The initial shot shows about 6 inches more of the upstairs and there's no long shot. From looking at all the previous pictures I now think this is building #19 (next to Boss's house). There's a lot of trees around it so we rarely get to see it clearly. I think they've even added some at the left to hide the buildings behind. Take a look at this picture of building #19 and see what you think. I've never seen it with the 'Cottonwood' sign before though. Nothing new to report in 'Undercover Dukes Part 1', but 'Uncover Dukes Part 2' includes a visit to Capitol City. Unlike previous episodes that used New York Street, this one uses French Street. The newsstand is at the right hand side of building #26. In building #27 is 'Capitol City Bakery'. The same building was a Chickasaw bakery in 'The Treasure of Soggy Marsh', although the signage is completely different. I think I can make out the letters 'Real Estate' on building #28. Much more obvious is the 'Law Offices' sign on building #29. To the right of the newsstand, and taking up most of building #26 are the 'Capitol City Medical Offices'. Plain-clothed Boss and Rosco (still wearing his sheriff's badge!) pull into the gas station opposite the newsstand. The gas station is a redressed building #25, seen recently as the Chickasaw Impound Yard. Although this is meant to be Capitol City, you can see the top of Rhuebottom's in the shots looking across the road from the gas station (not shown here).
  13. All this talk of Star Wars reminded me of a sketch from a British TV show called Dead Ringers. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Sir Alec Guinness style) goes to buy a second hand car: A couple of notes: Aldershot is a real town about 40 miles outside London. The Ford Galaxy is a European MPV, not to be confused with the Ford Galaxie.
  14. A couple more pictures from 'Enos's Last Chance'. First is a close-up of the church sign. Boss and Rosco were hiding behind it. This was one of my first re-creations in the Signs of Hazzard thread. Another mystery building now. During the montage of people listening to Enos's radio broadcast we see the 'Cottonwood Boarding House'. I don't recognize it as being any of the regular buldings in Hazzard Square, unless it's a new angle. Maybe CDoherty will recognize it or tell me another episode it was in. The next few episodes don't make much use of the square, and when they do I didn't spot any changes (except the brief re-appearance of 'J.D. Hogg's Furniture Mart' and the 'Hazzard County Gazette'). Aircraft featured in both 'High Flyin' Dukes' and 'Cooter's Girl'. After watching these two episodes I'm convinced that I correctly identified the airstrip location in this thread. The same airstrip also featured in 'Comrade Duke' and maybe a couple of other episodes. Now it's just a plowed field. In 'Dead and Alive' Bo and Luke end up locked in Sheriff Little's jail. In this episode French Street once again stands in for Chickasaw. Here we see Sheriff Little running across the road outside building #30. If you look over the back of his patrol car you can see the 'Hazzard Picture Palace' in the background. In the previous picture Sheriff Little is trying to stop Bo and Luke getting The General out of the impound yard. Chickasaw Impound Yard looks suspiciously like the Hazzard Impound Yard from 'The Sound of Music - Hazzard Style' (see this post). Not surprising when they are both building #25.

This coming Tuesday (June 14th) sees a special event at Watkins Glen. 2008 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton is swapping cars with two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart. They are both sponsored by Mobil 1, who are organizing the event. You can read more about it on their website. There's some performance difference between the two cars, a can be heard in .A similar swap was done at Indianapolis in 2003. Jeff Gordon swapped cars with Juan Pablo Montoya (who drove F1 at the time). You can see a video about that event . This time around both drivers will be using current, race-prepared cars and using the full 3.4 mile circuit.I can't find any broadcast details for the event, but I'm sure something will appear in YouTube if it isn't on TV.
  16. Another masterpiece LD. I also took a look at your Top Gear projects. The cushion is a very simple idea, but works very effectively. Oliver came out well too. Sad to hear you've lost BBC America - did you have any other favorite shows there?.
  17. Ah yes, the story of Bo and Luke trying to do the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs (that's BoShek and Luke Skywalker ). I bet those smuggling bays come in handy for 'shine as well as glitterstim spice.
  18. We're definitely back in Hazzard Square for 'Enos's Last Chance'. Initially I couldn't work out where Scanlon was sitting in this shot. Luckily all became clear from further back. He was sat outside O'Connor Paint Supply, although I don't remember that bench being there before. For the first time in this episode I noticed a car come from behind O'Connor Paint Supply, suggesting that this corner had been opened up as it is today. The car on fire belongs to poor old Enos. 'WHOGG' has moved from its previous location in French Street to building #2 next to the bank, formerly the 'Hazzard County Gazette'. We get a good overhead shot later in this episode, but I thought I'd post the close-up. Due to the rooftop look-outs we get several other high up views of the square, but I don't think they show anything new. The interior of WHOGG was filmed inside building #2 - the square is visible through the window.
  19. You're all right, it's Cooter. As a bonus question, it's said that "For $??.??, he could repaint an old hearse and make it look new enough to satisfy the fussiest undertaker in the world.". Q. What's the missing amount?: A) $19.99 $29.99 C) $39.99 D) $49.99 E) $59.99
  20. Some more background stores from Capitol City now. In this one there's 'Dixie's Steak House' and Horizon - I can't make out what Horizon sells, it was hard enough getting a still shot of it. On the other side of the road the stores have completely changed since we were here last time, although no names are readable. Capitol City has also lost its library, it's now City Hall. The building on the right (formerly the Youth Center) is now the 'Mid-Town Athletic Club'. It's interesting to note that Luke called Sheriff Floyd of Hatchapee County after he gets knocked out. A later conversation suggests that Capitol City is in his jurisdiction, yet it was Sheriff Little of Chickasaw County chasing the Dukes to Capitol City Hospital in 'The Boar's Nest Bears'. Does this mean that the hospital is in a different county to Capitol City itself?. Back in Hazzard Square the hotel has had a minor makeover, and now has a projecting sign on the left hand side. Uncle Jesse's pickup is so dirty in this episode it looks beige instead of white!.
