I've just posted a Dionne Warwick song in Musical Chairs and it reminded me that one of her songs was part of the "Cover to Cover" feature recently. Here are the two versions to compare and contrast: This week's song had two very different versions. I'm very familiar with the original British soul version (y'all may remember it from 'Shallow Hal'), but had never heard the countrified version from 1995:

I'm breaking two rules here: one of HazzardNet's and one of my own! I'd promised myself that I would try not to create any more threads in 'Fan Art' (I figured I was being greedy), but here I go with a new one. Not only that, but the artwork isn't even related to the Dukes of Hazzard (I hope the mods will be gentle with me ). Seeing as I had updated vector art for a Dodge Charger and a '68 Mustang I couldn't resist the urge to do this project, so I'm kicking off this new thread with the two cars from possibly the greatest chase in movie history. If you haven't guessed, it's 'Bullitt'. The baddies had the black '68 Charger (I had to change the front end, rear end and side markers), while Steve McQueen chased them in a highland green Mustang. For those of you unfamiliar with the chase, you can see most of it here. I've got a few other movie cars in mind, and will add them as soon as they're done.

You really need to listen to this on headphones to get the full benefit of the stereo trickery toward the end of the track. If you don't have headphones handy, stick your head between your speakers. It takes me back to listening to it in mid-80s on a cassette Walkman .

The uploader describes this as "bangin Harmonica blues". I've always thought of him as a folk musician. Either way, it's a great tune: The track is from the 1989 album 'Footsteps and Heartbeats'. On the liner notes of his LPs Rory is usually credited with playing both footsteps and heartbeats along with spoons, harmonica etc. I saw him play live the year this came out, and he filled the theater with just the sound of his harmonica. The uploader has added a clip from an old 'Felix The Cat' movie for the video. I'm not sure why, but it's quite fun .

It looks like you're following in the footsteps of Norm Abram, so just make sure you remember what he says about eye safety : Maybe you could call your TV show 'The New Jackeen Workshop' .

I noticed that too. I think it's a '71 Olds Cutlass, which would fit with the license plate. It also has the wrong wheels, but it is in the UK where Chargers are a little harder to get hold of. Having said that, the second and third cars are also in the UK and they're both very good looking Chargers, even if one is a '68 (incorrectly tagged as a '67).

It was Cannonball time again earlier today. This year the cars all parked up in a makeshift car park after some good burnouts up the hill. Several of this years' entries were the same as last year, so I've just included some of the new additions. Quite a few of the drivers/passengers dressed up for the occasion, like this smart Polizei officer in an Audi and Chewbacca in a Maserati. Some other costumes, not shown here, included The Blues Brothers, Top Gear's The Stig and some NYC Police. Some of the cars also dressed up. How about a leopard print Rolls Royce or flower power stretched limo? The Maserati ambulance didn't look very practical, but did include some handy livestock advice above the grille . The were a few US cars again this year, although not as many as the website had promised. The ones that did make it included a couple of Corvettes, a Hummer, a 2006 Mustang, a mid-70s Camaro and this '69 Camaro with a huge blower (similar to Vin Diesel's Charger in 'The Fast and the Furious'). I got to sit in the orange Lamborghini, and it was a bit cramped for my height. I told the owner that I liked the color, but it was the wrong sort of car . Finally, I'll leave you with the Gardai talking to an unmasked Batman. As the cars left to make their way to the hotel he came down the street revving the engine in his Ferrari (he was driving very slowly and not doing burnouts). He was pulled over and given a breath test, which he passed. I guess it's not every day that they can say they stopped Batman!

They were both new names to me, but I've enjoyed looking them up on YouTube. I think I prefer Del McCoury out of the two. The first track I tried was Rain And Snow by The Del McCoury Band & The Chieftains. As one of the comments says, bluegrass isn't that far removed from the reels of traditional Irish music, so the two worked well together. Maybe a few more bluegrass bands could try adding a bodhrán . The backing reminded me of by the Soggy Bottom Boys from 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?'. I probably shouldn't be surpised as the lead vocalist, Dan Tyminski, lists Del McCoury among his influences.You asked if anyone likes any other bluegrass groups. The only one I listen to regularly is Hayseed Dixie. Don't be put off by their gimmicky name: they're great musicians with a sense of humor. They're probably best known for doing very good bluegrass covers of rock songs (they call it rockgrass) such as Motörhead's . Their albums also include some of their own compositions and even a - who'd have thought that would work so well?

Y'all may have heard this at the opening ceremony of the Olympics: The 'Grime' music genre, a development of UK garage/British hip hop, emerged from an area of East London very close to the Olympic Park.
