My newspaper did a summer movie review this past weekend . It lists the DOH movie as Aug 5th..... Don't forget Burt Reynolds is also in another potential summer blockbuster - the remake of The Longest Yard (Adam Sandler) . That could also be areason the movie got pushed back. They still have the spring race on mothers day. Thsi is the first time the Cup boys have ever run on Mother's Day..... Bring back the Southern 500 - Labor Day weekend to where it belongs - Darlington .....

I still don't think Phoenix deserves 2 races.... Bring back North Wilkesboro , Rockingham , the Southern 500 - Labor Day weekend at Darlington , then we will have some real racing...

A while back on Ebay someone was selling them. I emailed a question to the seller and they said it was from TNN /Viacom . Something about them not running the series anymore and TNN changing to Spike TV at the time and some employees were given complimentary copies of the series. I am not sure how true it was , that is why I never bid on them. If it was true, not a bad present from your company then... Darrell

Then how about removing some "Who would you have cast" or "My idea for the movie" threads... fathead.....I just don't think you get it . I think Brian, MaryAnne, Muf'n all do a tremendous job on here to stop that kind of stuff before it gets carried away. Brian did probably the best thing to nip this one in the bud before it erupted . They have given considerable lead way to Bamamediamafia and his posts. And to their credit they have taken so much from alot of us on here. They have shown a lot of respect for our opinions and thoughts on here and they should be respected for that. Like Brian said, it is very very rare that something is deleted. Darrell

Gordon did indeed get lucky with his win at Martinsville. If it wasn't for the "Lucky Dog" free pass he wouldn't have won. I am not a huge fan of the lucky dog , never have been never will be either. One of the worst things NASCAR has changed. I don't like it even it benefits my favorite drivers. That is just my opinion... #20 - Tony Stewart

Agreed....As Dukes fans I think we , at least I am , need to give this movie a chance. I somehow think we might ne pleasantly surprised. We will all find out in a few months.

Let the beatin' and bangin' begin... I am sure tempers will flare up Sunday during and after the race... Hopefully this will be a good race. The others, including Daytona, weren't that exciting for 90-95% of the race except for the last few laps. Aero stuff is thrown out this weekend . It's time for racin' , short track style...

Unless they Have Uncle Jesse (Wille Nelson) more of narrating HIS perspective the story. If it is him telling his version of the movie story , that wouldn't be a bad idea....

I have no reservations about the movie. I am 34 and I grew up watching the Dukes when it was originally on and when TNN ran it in the 90's. I know we all had our choices for the roles and the way the movie should be and we all had our differeing opinions. I can say I have looking forward to seeing the movie. Other people have posted articles on here(forgive me for not naming anyone) that have showed the directors genuineness forthe movie. As a DOH fan I am supporting the movie. If it is not as good when it comes out then I will say so. I honestly can't see Dukes fans NOT giving this movie a chance. There is no reason to just because some people are unhappy. All I know is we will see when the movie comes out and I will be there opening night with my family.... Darrell

Thank you both for the articles... I love reading articles showing where the heart of the movie is, ie: Smokey & The Bandit reference.I am still looking forward to seeing it. I might be the only one here, but I want so much to at least give it a chance. I might not have agreed with the casting and directorial choices at first, but as a Dukes fan I am very happy that it isn't going in the "Starsky & Hutch" movie direction. I actually want this film to do well for all those involved. Like I have stated numerous times, it will bring in a whole new generation of DOH fans. Which will be the best thing possible... The only thing I am NOT looking forward to is the Jessica Simpson/Willie Nelson duet.

Yep....Smokey & The Bandit is my #1 choice .. Although #2 is a tie between Bullit - Steve McQueen and Dazed & Confused - awesome cars in that movie, 70 Chevelle SS , Pontiac GTOThe Judge" , El Camino, etc...

I was actually thinking along the same lines. Tom Selleck was originally cast for the role of Indiana Jones , but couldn't get out of his Magnum PI obligations at the time. I think it is a bad casting decision. but we will see when the movie comes out to see how Jessica is. Hey if the original casting wanted a blonde, he didn't get it. they went with Catherine Bach , who MADE the role of Daisy. Could you picture Farrah Fawcett - Majors or some one like that as Daisy??? I don't think so. They made the right call with Cathy Bach.

Mostly music people... Got pics with most of them too. 1. Zakk Wylde - saw a show by him and got to hang with him after the show. 2. Dan Baird(Georgia Satellites singer) - same thing as Zakk 3. Artimus Pyle( Original drummer of Lynyrd Skynyrd) - Took my daughter to see him and he treated us so well after the show. 4. Tony Stewart - At a World Of Outlaws race in PA. He was just an average guy talking shop. Very cool. Numerous racecar drivers , Richard Petty and alot of sprint car drivers... Darrell

The reason for many to be there is to be part of the experience. It could be much like those who attended Woodstock so many years back. Many were not into the music, but they wanted to be there to share the experience. Real race fans are claiming that Cup racing is boring. I can't argue that point. Even last Sunday's Busch Series race in Mexico City was a yawner. Martin Truex Jr. won by six seconds. Important to NASCAR was the fact that there were close to 100,000 people in the stands. They are already talking about bringing a Nextel Cup race to Mexico in 2006. I have to admit that the last few laps of the Daytona 500 were pretty exciting. But fans paying what some experts claim are the highest ticket prices in sports should not have to sit through 190 laps to get just 10 laps of excitement. Old-time race fans, those who remember the sport as I do, want to see drivers beating and banging on each other. They want to see racers who actually race for position and win a race by passing not pushing someone out of the way. Old-time race fans are not into gas mileage strategy tests. They are not into races that are won in the pits rather than in high speed competition on the track. Old-time race fans want to see a repeat of Richard Petty and David Pearson tangling just before they reach the finish line in the Daytona 500. Pearson was able to refire his car after the accident and limp across the finish line to win. Old-time race fans want to see a repeat of the fist fight that Donnie Allison and Cale Yarborough had after they crashed in the third turn at the 1979 Daytona 500 while battling for the win. It may be the most famous fight in the sport's history. NASCAR fines their drivers for fighting these days. They fine them for using curse words. NASCAR tells the racers that all that is not good for the image of the sport. However, when you look at the promotional videos, the commercial spots, being used to hype ticket sales, the fights and crashes seem to get the NASCAR seal of approval. Old-time race fans would like to get back to the days of the Ford battling the Chevy. The Pontiac battling the Olds. They want to be able to tell the cars apart. NASCAR is changing all that. All the cars are being built to look the same. In fact when NASCAR is done, all the bodies will be the same and all the engines will be the same. Homogenized racing. NASCAR, at least with its Cup, Busch and Truck divisions, seems to be headed in a different direction than what made the sport as popular as it is. And a lot of old-time race fans are not happy. Like your father's Oldsmobile, the old-time race fan also seems to be disappearing, replaced by the youngsters, not so interested in the racing as they are in being part of the NASCAR experience.
