Hey y'all I was just watching "Race Day" on SPEED when this commercial comes on and I was thinking this guy on this commercial looks like John Schneider. Well guess what. It was John Schneider. John Schneider will be on "R U Faster than a Redneck". It is on SPEED Channel tomorrow night. It is on at 8:00 Central time. Looks good but sadly I won't be able to watch it. Just exciting to see Bo Duke in between Race Day...

Thanks Hoss for keeping us updated on the qualifying order.

URGH Hoss...I was just coming here to post my race preview and look who got impatient and beat me to it? YOU. Am I getting fired from my job or what? Well Denny Hamlin won this race last year...and well Kyle Busch started the Nationwide Series Race today from the pole and went on to dominate and win the race. Will make sure my race REVIEW will be on a more timely matter...

28 injured fans at Daytona Nationwide Series Race
Garrett Duke replied to Garrett Duke's topic in NASCAR
Well this is unrelated to either Nationwide Series accident but it is in the Nationwide Series so I thought I would post it here. Will have to create a Nationwide Series thread if news from that series keeps going on like it has... Nationwide Series driver Jeremy Clements has been suspended indefinately by NASCAR for making an "intolerable and insensitive" remark. NASCAR and Clements are both refusing to say what was said, but that it was said during the course of an interview. I have read in another site that it was of a racial slur... Clements has apologized for what he said and to his fans and NASCAR. On a positive note... Lowes has extended their sponsorship of Sprint Cup driver Jimmie Johnson for another two years. It was rumored that they were going to pull out...so this JG/JJ fan is super excited that JJ's main sposnor for the twelve years he has been in SPrint Cup will be with him through the 2015 season. (Sorry I didn't want to cover up this thread by writing up Johnson's news in it's proper Sprint Cup News.) Please let me know if you are interested in Nationwide Series and I will do my best to post the results of the races. I don't normally watch that series, but I do keep an eye on who wins and if anything had happened during the race. So I would be glad to write that up too as well as the Sprint Cup...may do so either way, but would appreciate to know if anyone would be interested in it. Thank you. -
28 injured fans at Daytona Nationwide Series Race
Garrett Duke replied to Garrett Duke's topic in NASCAR
As for the fans that were injured, most have been released from the hospital and the two that were proclaimed critical has been moved or listed as being stable now. I have read where some of the fans are looking into lawsuits or what they can do lawfully against NASCAR for the accident. Though their lawyers are saying they don't know how far they can take it since NASCAR has on the ticket stating their risk of going to the race. Personally I don't know what else NASCAR could do to prevent all that had happened to happen. Though I am sure if their is something that needs to be fixed, NASCAR will fix it. They have already stated that the fence was top of the art. Those cars are going 200 mph and are real touchy with air and drafting and all that and when they are all drafting like that who can control where the cars land when they wreck? I don't know. My prayers are still with the injured. With the drivers. With NASCAR. That they can learn from this and move forward with a higher quality fence or whatever it may take. Though the fans were not the only ones injured in the Nationwide Series race...I guess there was an eleven car wreck on lap 116 that sent Michael Annett's Richard Petty Motorsport 43 car head on into the wall. He was taken to the same Halifax Medical Center, the fans were taken to, and kept over night for evaluation and observation. Annett was diagosed with a dislocated and fractured sternum and will have surgery for his injury. He will be out for some time... Aric Almirola who drives the 43 car in the Sprint Cup Series for Richard Petty will be driving Annett's car at Phoenix this weekend. -
Sorry y'all I couldn't resist this song! I think this is the first time I heard the song in whole...too hilarious! Love the flea infested mongrel part... Attached is a pic of my two dogs...Lilly and Rosco. Who are not flea infested or mongrels. Nor did anyone let them out...just had to share my babies!

Sorry to hear that you didn't have a great time at your NASCAR party Roger...now I know why I stay home alone to watch my races. It would kill me not to listen to the announcers...well at least on FOX which they are now on. The big screen would be great though. Hopefully you will enjoy Phoenix better next Sunday.

Well the Daytona 500 has just gotten over...that has got to be the fastest race ever. LOL. Luckily there was not a HUGE wreck like last night's but there was a few wrecks. Starting with Kyle Busch pushing Hendrick driver Kasey Kahne into the infield and taking out Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jamie McMurray. I think most of them did come back out but many laps down. Harvick ended his day early due to not being able to pass anyone else. Jeff Gordon passed Danica and led the first lap plus several laps and while doing so had some garbage on his grill to cause some water pressure problems. He fell back to 24th for a while due to it. He did later race back to the front towards the end of the race. But at the end had no help and finished a sad twentieth. Danica Patrick broke some more records with being the first woman to lead laps at Daytona...and the first woman to finish eightth in the Daytona 500! Carl Edwards wrecked his fifth car in the past 30 days to take him out of the race. Edwards had wrecked Trevor Bayne. JJ told him he could borrow his five time title. LOL. Matt Kenseth led the most laps (last year's Daytona 500) only for his engine to blow while on the lead lap. A couple of laps later, Kyle Busch, another Toyota driver and team mate had engine problems that took him to the garage. Martin Truex Jr had dropped a throttle t hat sent him back - Truex also drives a Toyota. 2012 Sprint cup Champion Brad Keselowski got in a couple of the accident and had led several laps towards the end before getting passed by Jimmie Johnson who went on to win his second Daytona 500. The seventh 500 win for team owner Rick Hendrick. Here is the finishing order for the Daytona 500: 1. Jimmie Johnson 2 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 3 Mark Martin 4 Brad Keselowski 5 Ryan Newman 6 Greg Biffle 7 Regan Smith 8 Danica Patrick 9 Michael McDowell 10 J.J. Yeley 11 Clint Bowyer 12 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 13 Aric Almirola 14 Denny Hamlin 15 Bobby Labonte 16 David Reutimann 17 Dave Blaney 18 Marcos Ambrose 19 Joey Logano 20 Jeff Gordon 21 Paul Menard 22 Michael Waltrip 23 Scott Speed 24 Martin Truex Jr. 25 Travis Kvapil 26 Terry Labonte 27 Trevor Bayne 28 Kurt Busch 29 Casey Mears 30 Jeff Burton 31 Austin Dillon 32 Jamie McMurray 33 Carl Edwards 34 Kyle Busch 35 David Ragan 36 Kasey Kahne 37 Matt Kenseth 38 David Gilliland 39 Juan Pablo Montoya 40 Josh Wise 41 Tony Stewart 42 Kevin Harvick 43 Joe Nemechek We are onto Phoenix next Sunday at 2:30 ET on FOX! Am already looking forward to it!!!!!

28 injured fans at Daytona Nationwide Series Race

Yes I agree...I hope that nothing bad happens like that today. Well I saw the first half of the video last night before turning it off. There is a difference between that video and the video that I think NASCAR put out. The NASCAR video that I saw was of the TV coverage where you see what happened where as that one was in the grandstands. I guess I do agree with NASCAR on this...those fans injured do deserve their privacy during their pain, fear, and all else that went on in the grandstands. Hoping for a great race today...a great and safe race. -
Thank you Roger...that was a fun post to write...wasn't sure who was going to win myself until half way through my post. This story has been so fun to write...thank you Roger.

-
You are welcome...hope you get to enjoy the race and enjoy getting beat by me in our league. That was a scary accident...hopefully there will be no other accidents like that for the rest of the season.

Hazzard County Welcomes Jeff Gordon
Garrett Duke replied to Garrett Duke's topic in Role Playing - Author Created Characters
Bo Duke couldn't believe his eyes when he saw a figure standing in front of them before running off into the trees. Even more disbelief when he saw the sheriff's car upside down along the track. "You know cuz?" he asks Luke as he struggles for position with Gordon, "I love it when you are right. Well, most of the time." Luke shakes his head with a smile. "Good. You should be use to it by now because I am never wrong," he forces a laugh as he nervously keeps an eye on Jeff Gordon's AARP car that is an inch in front of The General Lee, "But if you don't put your foot on it, you are going to force me to be wrong. For the first time." Bo glares over at him. "Wrong? By what?" he slowly glances shoving the accelerator down farther to speed up the car, "And my foot is on it, by the way." "Well Bo I hate to say it to you and feed your oversized ego," Luke continues in on Bo, "but I gone and tol' everyone I know that you were going to win this race against Jeff Gordon. But you are looking to be satisified with second and last place." Bo rolls his eyes and glances over at Luke before taking another look at Gordon. "I am never satisfied with second place and finishing last place is a nightmare," Bo states as he continues to work against Gordon, "I still got another mile to go. Wasn't it you who said not to give up?" "Yeah well then, prove it and pass Jeff Gordon. Show him who the better driver is," Luke pressures him jokingly. ************** Jeff Gordon steals a glance through the passenger window and is surprised to see the orange car almost aligned up to his car perfectly. Everyone he talked to in Hazzard had spoke highly of Bo's driving ability. Of how he is the greatest driver around Hazzard. How he wins nearly every race. And Jeff had believed them to a point. After all they would know better than he would. But Jeff has twenty years of NASCAR experience under his belt, Bo has none. And yet Bo remains at his side through the whole race. Has avoided his attempt to block him. He has raced him like a pro and Bo raced him back like a pro even though he is just a local boy at a small town. Well if Jeff was to lose to anyone, there isn't anyone better he would rather lose to to the two guys who had saved his life. Rescued him from the local crooked law. The ones that went out of their way to help him out. Not that he would allow Bo to win due to all that he has done for him. That is not in Gordon at all to let someone win, no matter what. Looking up ahead he sees Daisy with the white and black checkered flag up ahead a half a mile away. Sighing heavily he steps on the accelerator to speed up only for Bo to match his speed and location on the track. ************** Standing next to Cooter Jesse Duke catches himself holding his breath as the beloved orange race car comes into view right next to the AARP car driven by Jeff Gordon. He had been discouraged when Rosco came over the loudspeakers smuggly stating that he was going to win and that an ambulance was needed. Though discouraged, he knew Rosco well enough and his boys well enough not to give up hope and believe the sheriff completely. And now his hope and belief in his boys has paid off as the loud engines explodes as they get closer and closer to them. "Look at 'em Cooter!" Jesse states in excitement, "They are right next to each other." "You say that as if you doubted Bo could keep up with Jeff Gordon," Cooter states casually as he eats at a bag of pop corn. "I have never doubted Bo or Luke," Jesse states defensively, "you on the other hand is a different story." "Hey," Cooter starts to complain before his attention goes to the two cars coming closer and closer to Daisy. With his hand frozen in the bag, he holds his breath as the two cars go by Daisy to send the flag flying with the momentum of the cars. The cars going by Daisy with The General Lee's hood crossing the finish line a half of an inch before Gordon's burgandy AAPR Impala. "Bo wins! Bo wins!" Cooter yells in excitement as the cars come to a halt and Daisy beats them to the cars. ***************************** "Congrats cuz," Luke pats Bo's tense shoulder as The General Lee comes to a halt, "you went and beat your hero. Damn Bo you just gone and beat Jeff Gordon, a pro NASCAR driver, at a race!" Bo slightly nods as he takes his helmet off and Daisy is at his door a moment before Jesse and Cooter stand between the two cars. "Hey Bo...you won sugar," Daisy pulls him into a hug as he climbs out of the car and Jeff slowly walks around his car to join in on the celebration. "Congrats Bo. I'm proud of you," Jesse says in his hear as he gives his nephew a hug, "I'm always proud of you." "Thanks," Bo states nodding at everyone before Jeff walks up to him. "Wow Bo. Yeah wow," he states with a smile, "you are one heck of a driver to race me like that. I was giving you everything I had and you went and yet you still went on to win. Congrats kid." "Yeah congrats," an unknown voice comes from behind and they turn around as Alan Gustafson approaches them, "either you got NASCAR talent behind you or ol' Jeff here has lost his touch." "Speak for yourself Alan," Jeff states jokingly, "I didn't lose anything. The kid just got talent." -
I assume the pre race will start at eleven...central time.

Well the Nationwide Series raced at Daytona today and right before the checkered flag fell, a huge wreck forced Kyle Larson's car up into the fence. Injuring up to 28 fans...12 people getting rushed to the emergencey room...Tony Stewart went on to win the race. The accident There is a video and an article about the last lap accident...and that is one wicked wreck that left me in chills. Larson's engine was in the grandstand...his front part of his car was completely off. Glad to see him get out OK after that...he has to be shaken up and feel horrible about it. It's another Carl Edwards type wreck he had at Talledega. Just scary. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved. Hope not to see anything like this in the Sprint Cup series race tomorrow. Just horrible. Those drivers go over 200 mph in restrictor plate races Daytona and Talledega... Fans go there to have fun...a good time. And end up going to the ER at the end of the race. I know someone who is going to the SPrint Cup race tomorrow and for one ticket for the Sprint Cup it is $130...sure it is less than that for Nationwide Series, but still expensive. Go for a good time and leave with a nightmare. Just horrible...feel bad for everyone. Last Monday (Feb. 18) marked the twelveth year since Dale Sr died in a wreck at Daytona 500...his too was on the last lap. But Dale's accident was NOTHING like this one. Of what I remember of the accident he got hit from behind and hit the wall. He didn't wear the HANS (Head and Neck Support) which was optional at the time...now a requirement.

Hazzard County Welcomes Jeff Gordon
Garrett Duke replied to Garrett Duke's topic in Role Playing - Author Created Characters
"Well that low down good for nothing -" "Cool it Bo," Luke calmly interrupts his cousin as they work on fixing their blown out tire, "getting mad and losing your temper now will only make matters worse. You want to get back at 'em you'll help me fix this here tire and go beat Rosco and Jeff." Bo shakes his head as he glances over his shoulder where the Beundry's are talking to Jeff Gordon. "Yeah and while we are fixing this here tire, Rosco is getting away. You forget that?" Bo asks back as he puts the lugnuts back on the new tire. "And while Rosco is winning them Beundry's are asking for Gordon's autograph." Luke lets out a laugh. "Seriously? They just go and wreck 'em and they are asking for his autograph?" he questions stealing a look at Gordon's car and let out a sigh, "Damn they're bold." "Well perhaps we should go scare them away so we can help push Gordon out of the mud," Bo states with a smile. *************** "Seriously?" Gordon asks sarcastically in disbelief, "You just shot out The General's tire and then wrecked me! And now you are asking for my autograph! You got to be crazy!" "They are definately crazy," Bo's voice comes from behind Gordon and Gordon has to turn in his seat to see Bo and Luke approaching his car and as he looks at the Beundrys he sees fear enter their crazy eyes, "and if they don't run off as of now they'll be beggin Luke 'n I for mercy." Bo stares fearlessly at the Beaundrys who look at one another and then at Gordon and over at Luke before turning around to run away only to run into each other and fall to the muddy ground. "Better listen to my cousin," Luke chimes in, "he don't take it too kindly when someone wrecks Gordon on the race track. He gets all crazy yelling at the TV and all. During the race Bo can't do nothing about what happens or let the other driver know what he thinks of him for wrecking Gordon. But now," Luke shrugs giving them a sympathetic look, "now the people who wrecked Gordon are right in front of Bo. And does he look happy?" "Um," they all begin to stutter as Bo walks towards them kicking mud at them with each step. "And seeing how you just shot out our tire to help Rosco win the race," Luke shrugs, "I'm of mind to let Bo do to you whatever he wants to do. So if I were you," Luke shrugs again as if to say the choice is their's, "I'd run off while he gave you that option." "Um yes sir," they state before running away, this time in the same direction. "That took care of 'em," Luke states with a sigh of relief. "Yeah well I was wishing they'd be brave enough to stay and see what I had in mind," Bo mutters angrily. "We're here to push you of this mud, Jeff. We'll push and you hit the accelerator." "Thanks guys," Jeff nods at them as he watches them get to the bumper and start pushing before shoving on the accelerator and after a moment of shoving on the accelerator and kicking mud up at the Dukes, the car lurches forward. Causing both Bo and Luke to fall to their hands and knees in the mud. "Dang it! Hey I'm real sorry about that Bo and Luke." They both shake it off. "Well let's not give up now...knowing Rosco he probably gone and ran into a tree or something," Luke states, "with his lack of driving talent we still have a good chance of winning." Bo and Jeff slowly nod, not feeling Luke's optimism. Jeff watches Bo and Luke run back to thier car and waits for the orange muscle car to race up to his car before he shoves on the accelerator and they are back to racing each other. -
I apologize for using this song again...know I have used it before. But this has got to be my all time FAVORITE Toby Keith song. Love it! I like all of TK's older songs - but not a fan of his newer music. I use to know this song by heart. Still one of my favorite country songs...
-
Sorry about the one word...but have to use this song by my favorite Christian band.

"Rocky Mountain High" John Denver

This song was on "Remember the Titans" one of my all time favorite movies (after the first Smokey and the Bandit of course ).

Thanks Hoss for doing my job for me.

Well the Gatorade Duels were today...two races. Duel one was won by Kevin Harvick...second one was won by Kyle Busch. I am currently not seeing how the drivers will line up for Sunday's race...but will let you know when I do. I am thinking that the first four will look like this: 1. Danica Patrick 2. Jeff Gordon 3. Kevin Harvick 4. Kyle Busch. But I could be wrong...will post an official starting order when I get it. As for the Duels themselves...I didn't get to watch them since most people have to work at the odd hour they put it. . .or at least I did. Will never understand why they have the races so early. Ah well. Gordon was in the first one and led 39 or so laps before being caught speeding on pit road trying to get a head of Kasey Kahne...really hope he has gotten that out of his system. Don't want to be seeing that on Sunday! I promise my race reviews will be much more detailed on Sunday... THREE MORE DAYS UNTIL DAYTONA 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
