I once again agree with you Roger. I wish I could sum it all up as you seem to do so easily. I am not a big Coy and Vance fan, but WB had to do something without Tom and John there and as you said, Roger, it was way better having them there than not having no Dukes to watch at all. Well I guess I can imagine since I was only five when the show ended - though I do remember watching the Dukes and liking the show, as odd as that sounds. LOL. Anyways, Daisy and Jesse and all the other characters carried the weight well to make the show pull through the season without Bo and Luke. I haven't seen that ep in a LONG time, but it was awesome seeing Bo and Luke taking off the helmets and the welcome that they had received on the show. Also, I think Coy and Vance had some pretty good and original story/plot lines. Different than the ones with Bo and Luke. Bo and Luke had good plot/story lines, but of the episodes I remember with Coy and Vance, they had some really good and different plot/story lines behind the shows that they were in. I am sure that helped as well throughout the time Bo and Luke was gone.

I agree with Roger one hundred percent on what he had just said - very well wrote Roger.

I have heard of "Lord of the Rings" but never really did get into the movies or tried to read any of the books. I haven't heard of the other authors you all have listed. I am not really into that sort of thing, I like a good mystery - either lawyer or police or both. My favorite authors are: Lee Child, Micheal Connolly, John Lescroart, and Steve Martini. Once I get any of their books started, they are hard for me to set them back down.

Hmmm. . .that is a hard question. At least for me. Then again, it shouldn't be too surprising to me since the only 'new' or current show that I watch regularly is Numb3rs and Dog Whisperer and I don't see any connection between Numb3rs and Dukes. Especially not Dog Whisperer. So I guess I can eliminate Numb3rs and Dog Whisperer from the list.

Congratulations Roger on your new addition to your family! I'm sure you are a proud papa! Glad to hear the baby and mom are doing well...you'll have to place your good influence on little Luke by playing him ol' Waylon songs and putting on your Dukes DVDs. You can't start 'em too young, now can we? LOL. Once again, congrats Roger. I am happy for you!

Don't get me started on how they protrayed Uncle Jesse on the movie. He would roll over in his grave seeing what they did to his character. He was definately not doing a good job at playing the patriarch part by doing things and saying things he would have wooped the boys if they even thought of doing it! Though I didn't think anyone had stuck to character in the movie, which had upset me, it was Jesse's character that had upset me the most in the movie. As I said, Lori, I am glad that you were able to see past the negativity on the movie and beyond everyone else's negative and angry repsonses of the movie. It is great that someone has found something in the movie that they like and are willing to back it up. It is great to see you sticking up for what you feel and all that. I highly respect your opinion, as you should know by now, and what you think. Thank-you for posting here. Well there is my two cents worth...for the little that it is worth. I better shut up before I continue to ramble on and on about this subject. I don't mean no disrespect to the movie or the actors or anyone who likes the movie, all that I have stated is all of my own opinion. One that won't change, but none the less, it is only my opinion.

I have a converter box and though I don't get to watch it very often, do like it much better than how it had been before. Before I had only gotten one or two stations that would come in. Now I have a few more than that...including CBS which I am excited about. I generally go to my parents' house Friday nights and over the weekend so I can watch their cable, but now I have the option to stay home Friday nights and can still enjoy my other favorite TV show (besides the Dukes of course ) Numb3rs which I look forward to watching every Friday night. Anyone else watch it here? LOL. Anyways, of when I find the time to watch my TV, I do enjoy it better.

Nice post Lori. It is great that you are focusing on the positive on the movie...which for me was kinda hard to find. Then again, there will never be anyone or anything that could ever come close to being as good as Tom, John, Cathy, Denver, James, and Sorrell was in the Dukes. They are a cast that is very unreplaceable in my opinion, no matter how hard they tried (though in my opinion, they didn't try very hard for the first movie at least - I refused to watch the second movie). In my opinion, it was a bad idea trying to make the movie in the first place, because to me, nothing but the originals will do for the Dukes. They are what made the Dukes great all those years ago and are still the ones that make the show still great today. I will admit, the plot/story line was a classic Duke plot and that I liked about it. At least the plot was Hazzard-like and the car scenes were awesome. Burt Reynolds I thought did a great and respectable job at playing Boss Hogg. That said, all the other characters were way out of character and there was A LOT of stuff that should never have been put in there or associated with the Dukes. It is very sad that they need that stuff to sell to the younger people today or to anyone. Once again, this is all of my opinion and I apologize if it makes anyone upset. It is just how I felt about the movie. I had went to see in the theater only to try to prove myself wrong about the movie and from the first scene of the movie, I could tell that I wasn't wrong at all about how I felt about it. Even if they stuck to character and held all the values that the original show had, I would have a hard time liking it due to it not being the original actors/actress and so forth. But it was way out of character and I found little to no value in the movie. As I said earlier, I did like your post and did like to see someone finding something positive of the movie. I am glad to see someone giving it a try. Thank-you Lori for your post.

I like that song, Lizzy...I like Darius' music. That would be a good song for the Dukes - maybe right at the end of an episode after they put the bad guys away and have dealt with Hogg and Coltrane. Can see them at the farm, taking in all they have and realize what a great life they have. At least that is what I see when thinking of the Dukes and of the song you are talking to you. A couple of songs that I can think of off hand at the moment that reminds me of the Dukes is "Nothing but the Tail Lights" by Clint Black for what seems to be obvious reasons. Everyone up against the Dukes are generally looking at the tail lights of The General. Another song is "I run to you" by Lady Antebellum (their new song). Maybe not in the sense of the what the song is meant for, but how they start out by saying they run from prejudice, and hate, pestimists and so forth.

Hey y'all...just thought I'd let you know he was in another Hallmark movie Saturday night, think they had it on again on Sunday as well. It was a great family movie...it is always great to see the likes of that on TV now a days. It was "Dance at my Wedding" or something like that. He had a big part in the movie and did an awesome job in it. Hopefully they will aire it again for those of you who missed it this weekend, because it was definately worth watching it!

Very true - how can you go wrong watching any episode of the Dukes? I know I do the same when I do watch my DVDs and mostly they are the same episodes that I pick out in the past. I have seen "One Armed Bandits" so many times that I can pretty much say word for word what is to say once I put that episode in. Probably about the same with the other favorites that I put in, but not as much as that episode for some reason.

LOL Roger! You have me laughing just thinking of the scene that you are talking about! What a great scene/tactic to break up the tension and anger that had grown between Luke and Bo at that time. It even had Luke laughing after awhile! You gotta love ol' Uncle Jesse - he always knew the right things to say and do when it is needed the most! Thank-you Roger for bringing that up, I needed the laugh today.

Nah, DaisyxEnos, I wouldn't consider it a bad thing at all! I've done the same as you by placing a favorite episode in without watching the others before it. As I stated earlier in this thread, I've got all the seasons on DVD, but have only seen a few episodes from them...very sad, I know. I wish I could find the time in my schedule, and to stick with it, to watch an episode a day - that might even be the trick to waking up my stubborn muse that refuses to work with me. Anyway...I think you've done fine Daisy.

I have to agree. I like the first five episodes that they aired in Georgia the best. High Octane was a good episode in that bunch, liked "Daisy's Song" just because it was something different - out of Hazzard and different clothes for the boys. Or "Swamp Molly" was fun to watch as well. Though the first five eps are my favorite in general, I would have to say that "Ghost of General Lee" is my all time favorite just for all the emotion that is in the episode. "Ten million dollar Sheriff" is another because it was then when I started to watch the Dukes on TNN - it was the second part of the episode (I can even remember the scene I turned it on to...odd I know). Or "Carnival of Thrills" for the emotion between in that one, but I do hate to see the boys fighting, really enjoyed the end of that episode. That is just to name a few...any episode with Bo and Luke is great by me. Especially with Rosco, Enos, and Cooter in them as well. You can never replace the originals...though I did really enjoy the episodes with LB Davenport in them. Was sad to see him leave and glad to see Cooter back - too bad Hazzard couldn't have two mechanics.

That is great news! Thank-you John's No 1 Fan, for keeping us informed on Al's conditions. He will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Am so glad that things are beginning to look positive for him.

Rosco by far! I never could get too much into the replacement sheriffs...don't think you could ever really come close to replacing Rosco. He may give the Dukes a hard time and may be on Hogg's, but you still gotta like him.

Thanks Roger. Thinking of the Dukes, I always get to feeling bad when I think of all the seasons/episodes that I have on DVD and have yet watched. Well I have seen each and every episode more times than I can remember, but have only seen a handful or so from my DVDs. Due to the lack of time in my schedule and of generally going to the computer when I do have time...in my vague attempt to write. LOL. You can call me jealous, Roger, to hear that you have seen them that many times! Well, maybe not jealous, I'm happy to hear that you are able to watch an episode a day - I remember trying to do that. Sadly enough it didn't last very long. Oh well...I am always glad to hear of a fan as dedicated to the show as you are! Perhaps one day I will organize my life enough to find time to do all that I need to do and watch the Dukes. Which is your favorite episode, Roger?

I bet you are looking forward to them coming in for you...hope you like them. I have all seven seasons and yet haven't even watched most of them as of yet. Am I bad or what? Hope you enjoy your CHiPs as well...I use to love that show. That was my all time favorite show before I got into the Dukes in '97. Think I have seen each and every episode as much as I've seen each and every episode of the Dukes. I had even wrote fan-fic of the show before switching to write DOH fan-fic. . .

Elly- I like your ideas that you posted here. Both for the Dukes and The Beverly Hillbillies. I especially like your combined stories of the cross over between the shows! Good luck at your writing...I hope your muses will cooperate fully with you (unlike mine). HAPPY WRITING!

Y'all are better than me. LOL...or more in reality with the show than I am. I have it in today's age and go by the ages from some of the info from the show. . .though with the inconsistancie, it makes it hard to go by and to stick with what I got at times. Count me lazy I guess. . .

There seemed to be a lot of inconsistancies throughout the series...which makes it difficult when it comes to writing and so forth.

WB Goodolboy85! As for Daisy and Enos not being wed, that is a good question...but it leaves the doors wide open for all of us DOH fan-fic writers to write about if one wishes to do so. To me it seems like TV shows like that want or like their lead characters to be unmarried or so...or maybe it is just coincidence...One may never know.
