  1. I know I haven't put out a newsletter in quite some time, but there was a lot of Dukes related news in the past week, so I figured I'd send one out. You can view it here. If you haven't yet signed up for the newsletter, but would like to, you can sign up here.

  4. Garrett watches back from afar at everyone's emotions. "Well y'all," he finally says looking back at his car and back at them, "once I get this tire fixed, I'm off to The Boar's Nest. First round is on me if anyone wants to join." With that, he turns around and walks back to his car where he pulls out a spare tire and his equipment out from the trunk.

  5. Jesse doesn't look too happy. "I'm gittin' too old for Hobie's Moonshine race. There ain't no way I'm doing this next year. It's just too chaotic and too dangerous!" After he walked away everybody smiled. Miz Tisdale laughed. "He says that every year after the race. Don't worry folks, he'll be back. Right now his pride is just hurt that I beat him."

  6. Garrett watches everyone cross the finish line and smiles as Jesse and Miz Tisdale argue with Deputy Strate. After they leave the deputy's area, he confidently walks over to them with his hands tucked in his pockets. "Well y'all," he drawls, "congrats on a great race. I haven't had that much fun, in. . ." he pauses and shrugs, "forever."

  7. Jesse erupted " What in tarnation did ya do that fer Emmer?" Miz Tisdale smiled "Now don't you remember Jesse? You was so confident you'd finish ahead of me that you promised to take me on a date to the Hazzard Pond if I beat you." * Sounds just like them! I'm out of emojies...so....

  8. But before Meadowmufn took sixth place the battle for fourth was fierce between Jesse and Emma. Jesse's front bumper crossed the finish line first but when he got out of the truck the race judge (Enos Strate) was already handing the fourth place trophy to Miz Tisdale... Jesse complained "Now Enos, Emmer ran a good race but I'm sure I crossed that there finish line first". Enos replied quickly "Um, I'm sorry about that Uncle Jesse but Miz Tisdale had two fishing poles tied to the front fender of her dirt bike and they stuck out so far that they crossed before your bumper." Jesse erupted " What in tarnation did ya do that fer Emmer?" Miz Tisdale smiled "Now don't you remember Jesse? You was so confident you'd finish ahead of me that you promised to take me on a date to the Hazzard Pond if I beat you." Jesse smiled, "All right Emmer you win. But yer gonna be the one cleaning and frying the fish." She smiled back "I'm okay with that. As long as I can come out to the farm to do it."

  9. Hobie slides in directly after and looks around wondering what happened to Meadow! He's glad everybody made it safely but his concern over Meadow ........wait! There she is! She just pulled in! ( He was worried! )

  10. Watching from behind, Jesse sees Hobie take advantage of Garrett's misfortune and pull beside his car. From Jesse's view it looks like both cars crossed the finish line at the same time. The checkered flag waves. It appears Jesse won't know the winner until he finishes the race and asks. All he knows is that it looks like a photo finish. Skipper clearly has third place wrapped up. Losing to a guy pulling a yacht is a bit humiliating but Jesse is happy for Skipper. Now, there's the business of fifth place. He looks at Emma. There just might be a photo finish for fifth place too.

The show that Rick left for was "Amanda's". He played the chef, Earl Nash, at Amanda's by the Sea - a hotel run by Bea Arthur's character Amanda. The show was based on the iconic British sitcom "Fawlty Towers", but was cancelled after 13 episodes. The show also starred Fred McCarren, who was Neil Bishop in "The Big Heist". "Fawlty Towers" famously (at least on this side of The Pond) only ran for two seasons of six episodes each (six episodes is the standard season length for British sitcoms), and they were four years apart due to the stars/writers getting divorced in-between. Here's the first episode of "Amanda's". I assume by the picture quality that it hasn't been released on DVD or repeated lately. Rick appears at just over eight minutes in.

  15. Do you know if the shelter is a no kill or a kill shelter? If you don't know you could research it and if it's no kill that may convince them to help catch the poor kitty. That is frustrating and the poor kitty is suffering and needs help and support. I don't blame you. There are people out there worthy of your trust, but there a lot of people out there that isn't worthy. I feel most if not all animals are trust worthy. I have a water bottle that says Dogs make me happy. People make my head hurt.

  16. Garrett is in disbelief as Hobie takes a short lead before he regains it and sees an unfamiliar car approaching before being slowed down due to what looks to be life jackets. "Thanks for the save, Skipper," he slightly smiles as he gains more of a lead over the field.

  17. Jesse gets on the CB to Skipper "This ain't looking too good Skipper. If it wasn't me who was going to win this race I was hoping you were going to. But I don't see how we can catch either one of these guys. And to make matters worse it's getting downright dangerous back here. It's starting to look like your boat hitch is starting to come loose. I'd hate to see it come undone....but it would make you faster. But the bad news is (Jesse starts singing) The Minnow would be lost...The Minnow would be lost. And it's getting dangerous on my other side too. Emma keeps staring at me and taking her eyes off the race track. I'm really starting to be sorry I agreed to this. Remind me to tell Hobie next year I'm not doing it."

  18. Seeing how fast Hobie and Uncle Jesse had gotten their vehicles to go fast, Garrett wonders what kind of work they put into their vehicles and why Garrett for once decided to race fair. "This is why NASCAR has all them silly rules," he mutters to himself as he momentarily holds Hobie off in hopes of making it to the finish line first.

  22. random thought... does anybody know if any of the episodes aired on any ot the cast members birthdays? or possibly they "worked" on their birthday.

  23. I know I've posted something like this before, but this is more detailed. I have several "errors" situations etc. firstly, we know that the 1st episode aired in 1979. in it Waylon says last year (1978) the boys got caught on a run. in happy birthday general lee (aired 1984) we learn 8 years prior (1976) is when they got the general, bo was "just getting out of hs", Luke got out or marines, (not sure of how long someone could/had to stay in service back then) but they were even on probation then. (my guess is they never wanted they boys to use guns) Daisys shotgun wedding (aired 1983) : she had been working at boars nest for 4 years. was it 79 or 76? Hazzard hijack: Lukes's marine "buddy" was part of stolen money 5 years prior (1976) (they never "found" each other after Luke came home) 1979 ghost of general lee rosco says he chased the boys so many times over the years it was only three years I'm sure it was more (but I'm specifically talking of the general) bye bye boss 1981: ten years prior boss sent digger to jail (the "kids" did not know about it) play it again luke 1984: luke last saw candy 7 years prior (1977) there are several others that "meet each other" I know they were never thinking facts for timelines just rewatching it is funny with some episodes.

  24. Jesse looks at Skipper "What in tarnation are you lookin' so glum about Skipper? You came in third place in one of the biggest races these here parts has to offer. And you did it pulling a yacht! Only a first class wheel man could have pulled that off. Not only that but you beat Emmer here. You know how fast she is on that there dirt bike." Emma responded quickly. "I'm sorry Skipper. I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but I could have passed you anytime I wanted. I just liked staying beside Jesse. He sets my heart on fast idle."

  25. Garrett allows a bit of excitement as the finish line comes into view several feet ahead. He glances behind to see his competition momentarily and as he looks ahead he hits a bump and cusses out loudly and regains control of his car. With the finish line coming he feels his passenger tire going flat. Frustrated, but not giving up, Garrett pushes the gas pedal farther down to force his car to go faster in hope of making it to the finish line ahead of everyone else.

  28. I'm currently watching season 2 of 'The Fall Guy'. In just the third episode (Colt's Outlaws), the two main stunts were done using obvious miniatures in a show about stuntmen! There's also a lot of terrible back projection. The bad guy in this one is played by Ramon Bieri, who was JJ Carver in 'Undercover Dukes'. Like 'Undercover Dukes', this is also a two-parter, but the second episode is called 'Colt Breaks Out'. I'm also enjoying spotting Dukes guest stars popping up in 'The Fall Guy'. This one has Beans Morocco and L.Q. Jones who both appeared in two episodes of Dukes.

  29. Welcome to the HazzardNet. The good news is that they kept the farm going until the boys returned....and kept the series from ending with just 4 seasons. You don't have to like them but you should appreciate them. So, tell us more about yourself. How long you been a Dukes fan? Favorite character? Favorite episode?

  32. "Dang it," Garrett hisses to himself in frustration as he sees Hobie catching up while wondering how Hobie managed to catch up as quickly as he did. Shaking his head he thinks momentarily of blocking Hobie, but didn't want to wreck his car in attempt at doing so. Instead he focuses on pushing the gas pedal farther down and to help his car get faster than what he was doing.

    The Legacy

There are just some kinds of shows that the alien/sci-fi/UFO crap (my opinion) doesn’t work…and DOH was definitely one! Leave that garbage for Star Wars, Star Trek, and X-Files. Ironically another show, around the same time, that tried the aliens ridiculousness was Miami Vice. An episode called β€œMissing Hours” ended up being famously known as THE worst episode of MV (in my opinion, possibly the worst episode in TV history)!

  38. Garrett gets worried when his car sputters and swears under his breath before he feels the power return to full throttle. Still worried about what that may have been, he tries to push it out of mind as he looks back and is disappointed to see his lead length shorten due to the sputter. Shaking his head, he does the only thing he can do. Look ahead and shove the gas pedal to the floor and a hint of a smile crosses his face to feel the strong power of Spittin' Cobra back full force.

  39. But wait, Roger bumped into Skipper and they both spun out. They recovered quickly though. So now, Garrett has the lead, Hobie is in second, Skipper third, Roger fourth and Emma fifth.

  42. Things really going downhill from here. Even Skipper has passed Roger. Looking like a fourth place finish. But wait! In the excitement of the competition Roger forgot about the back up nitrous oxide Cooter installed for moments just like this. He hits the toggle switch to turn the primary system off and hits another switch to turn the secondary system on. Once again g-forces push him back. He passes Skipper and is on the move...back into third place. A quick glance in the mirror shows Emma Tisdale closing in on Skipper. The front wheel of her dirt bike has been off the ground the last several miles. But she is starting to run low on nitrous oxide.

    The Love Bug (1969)

I have them all on DVD, including the one with Lindsay Lohan. I only got to see one at the cinema, which I'm guessing was either 'Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo' (1977) or 'Herbie Goes Bananas' (1980). I also have a 1:18 model of Herbie.

    RIP Rick Hurst

When I first met Rick, it was in the 90's, so the WWW was in its infancy. When I told him about HazzardNet's predecessor (the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department on Prodigy), he was excited there was a community of fans online still discussing and enjoying the show. He told me he'd be right back and when he returned, he handed me an enormous folder of 8x10s, several of them signed. That was very generous of him. I still have them packed away from the move, but when I find them (someday), I will scan them in and put them on the site. When I mentioned where I worked at the time, we had a connection there and he told me some amazing stories. We just had an awesome conversation. He was very personable and gracious. At the Dukesfest in '01, I got to do an impromptu square dance with him and Jimmie. Good times. I would've liked to have gotten to know him better, but my health and work situations over the years didn't permit me to get to events as much as I'd have liked.
