  1. I'll be driving my Gray Ghost Jr. '68 Camaro! It has a new coat or primer and a big engine under the hood. I promise no one will catch me playing dirty... or catch me.

    NASCAR news

Apologies for the lateness of my F1 review - I've had a busy week! Here's what happened at last weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, Italy. The McLarens looked to have the pace all through the three free practice sessions, but could only manage first and fourth on the grid (Oscar Piastri ahead of Lando Norris). They were split by the Red Bull of Max Verstappen and the Mercedes of George Russell. Neither Ferrari made it into the top 10, which disappointed their fans so close to their factory. The other Mercedes driver, 18-year-old rookie Kimi Antonelli, grew up near the track and had invited many friends and family to the race, but could only qualify 13th. Oscar made a good start, but Max got around him almost immediately. Lando had to wait until lap 11 to pass George and set off after his team mate. Oscar pitted early, and then Lando pitted just before Esteban Ocon's car pulled off to retire from the race, bringing out a virtual safety car. That gave Max and many others an easy pit stop and shook up the order. Lewis Hamilton, who'd been stuck behind Kimi since the start, finally managed to pass him on lap 34, and continued to make progress through the field. Sadly for his local fans, Kimi had to retire on lap 46. That brought out a full safety car which allowed for more easy pit stops for some. Max held the lead at the restart and went on to win the race. Behind him, Lando and Lewis each overtook their team mates on track. Charles Leclerc briefly passed Alex Albon, but his team told him to give the place back to avoid a penalty as he pushed Alex off the road to make the move. At the flag, the top 10 were: 1 Max Verstappen 2 Lando Norris 3 Oscar Piastri 4 Lewis Hamilton 5 Alexander Albon 6 Charles Leclerc 7 George Russell 8 Carlos Sainz Jnr 9 Isack Hadjar 10 Yuki Tsunoda Lewis said it was the first time he felt at home in the Ferrari after joining the team at the start of the season. You can see the race highlights here. This weekend we're off to the historic Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo.

  7. Good luck with that. You have some pretty stiff competition. It's Hobie's facility so he has the home track advantage. Meadowmufn is in the sheriff's car so who knows what dirty tricks those two have up their sleeves. Hoss has an F1 rocket. I have an F150 rocket. So far Skipper seems to be the only slow one. But if he unhooks the trailer the SS Minnow is on, there's no telling what he can do. I imagine Boss JD Hogg and Spike are going to be jumping in.

  8. I don't know but I've heard Cooter has done something to his wrecker...souped it up or something......you guys watch out for him. I'm still wondering what in the name of Hazzard, Uncle Jesse's done to his truck. He had to do something, to make his truck able to compete! souped it up, got another engine or something!

  9. You can straighten the curves but I can flatten the hills with this souped up truck. Speaking of which, we went out for ice cream tonight and on the way down were listening to a classic country station and they played the Dukes theme. I was riding on a cloud....smiled the whole song!

My tank is full ( in more ways than one!) and I know the track around the county better than anybody! My mech...mech.....mech......my RePAIR man has taken special time this week to get this machine into top shape! And I'm getting ready for it as soon as everyone else prep.....prep...prep.....gets ready. The only thing I've got left to do, is take a little sip ( you never waste a sip!) .....ooooo that's smoooth! * I'll be back later with an adult beverage or 2 or ....5....and see what has been going on........Adult beverage.....a man's got to have his vitamin A....lol !!

  15. Okay it looks like we have Hobie in the Trans Am. Garrett in a Jeff Goron NASCAR car. Me on Emma's mail motorcycle. Skipper pulling the SSMinnow with an F-350 dually. MM in Rosco's sheriff's car. Hoss in an orange F1 car. Boss, Spike, others, ya in? If we don't hear from people they're gittin' flat tires as soon as the race starts....but they will be starting.

  16. Let's all remember, it's the MoonShine 400 ( not like Daytona 500, Charlotte 500 etc. ) because we who started the race, can't stay sober long enough to make 500 laps! It's ok though. We have a lot of fun racing people we know and it's mainly a Hazzard County thing, so we don't have to worry about outsiders crashing the party!! I hope everyone has had a great day. Remember, it's DOH day!! * * Happy DOHD everybody! ( Fridays are always Dukes Of Hazzard Day!)

    Hazzard Square

The trio correctly identified the square as the filming location of 'The Music Man' and 'The Gilmore Girls' (both already mentioned in this thread), and then Cathy says "and then didn't they film, um, Opie, uh, what's that, not Happy Days, um ...". She never finished the sentence and never mentioned Andy Griffiths, but it's fair to assume that that's what she was referring to as Ron Howard's character was Opie Taylor (and he was in 'Happy Days'). Exteriors for "The Andy Griffith Show" were mainly filmed at the RKO 40 Acres/Desilu backlot in Culver City, about 45 minutes south of the Warner Bros' backlot. I can't find any evidence of Andy Griffith filming in Burbank. The video below shows what's now standing where the backlots were, and mentions several other shows and movies that were filmed there. It also shows the former Desilu Studios in Hollywood. There's a brief Dukes tie-in at around 12:32 when they show a still of James Best from the 1959 movie 'Verboten!'.

  18. All right. Garrett is in. It wouldn't be a Moonshine 400 without Garrett. If we don't get confirmation from MM we are just putting her in Rosco's patrol car and we'll put Hoss in an orange F1 car.

  19. Oooo I wanna race the NASCAR 24 car!!! Flames and all!
    3 points
  20. Okay but it has to have wheels. You pulling it with something? That's 3. If other people don't enter we should enter them anyways and then to punish them for not participating we'll just give them flat tires early in the race!

  21. Rosco was a baaaaaaaaaaaad influence on me.
    3 points
  22. True. I don't trust Meadowmufn. She's just too good of friends with the Sheriff. Speaking of which, I wonder if Rosco is going to let her drive his car in the Moonshine 400. If she does, ignore the siren. She will probably use it to trick us into slowing down.
    3 points
  23. So, how does this work Hobie, can I enter a dirtbike, Hoss enter an F1 car, Garrett enter a NASCAR #24 car? ETC ETC? Can Skipper enter the SS Minnow or does it have to be on wheels, like maybe a flatbed semi pulling the SS Minnow? Can we pick our own colors or do they have to all be red because you can't see any other color?

It looks like I missed out on a auction before the Monaco Grand Prix. The Ferrari driven to victory by Michael Schumacher in the 2001 race sold for €15.98 million ($18.11 million at today's rates), making it the fourth most expensive F1 car ever sold. Oh well, I was a couple of bucks short anyway! As the joke goes: I'm almost a millionaire. I have all the zeros, I now just need a one!

    HELLO!!!

You are lucky to have an awesome girlfriend like that. I can't get my wife into Dukes. She doesn't dislike it but doesn't like it enough to watch on a regular basis. Strange coincidence: She watches that Diners Drive Ins and Dives food show. Today they were at a rural restaurant and the host Guy Fieri asked if Bo and Luke Duke come in the drive thru often.

  29. Well, it's racing time here in Hazzard, but of course it's ALWAYS racing time in Hazzard Co. The Moonshine Mauler is the favored winner this year, because of it's super charged engine and Hobie is the driver! There ARE some other racers though, who plan to give Hartkins a run for his money!

  38. I have decided to enter Jesse's white F-150 in the race. Emma looked it up and found out it is against postal regulations to enter the dirt bike. Me and Cooter souped up the old Ford this morning and tested it. It's a strange coincidence you are getting 180 mph. I hit 181 mph in the truck this afternoon. Cooter thinks he can improve on that.

    NASCAR news

In yesterday's race, Lando Norris got a good start from second and challenged for the lead off the line, but had to go wide at the second corner a dropped back to sixth. Kimi Antonelli got up to second and also briefly challenged Max Verstappen for the lead. He held the place for a few laps before being passed by Oscar Piastri. Oscar then went on to take the lead at the start of lap 14. It took Lando a few more laps, but he also passed Max to take second. There were a couple of virtual safety cars for blown engines, and one of them let George Russell pit and get out ahead of Max. Behind them, Lewis Hamilton gave some very sarcastic team radio messages when his Ferrari team were slow to respond to his request to swap track position with his team mate Charles Leclerc. First he asked if they'd finished their tea break, then when he had to let Charles back in front he was given the gap to the car behind and he asked if they wanted him to let them past as well. By the end, the two McLarens had a lead of over 30 seconds ahead of George and Max in third and fourth. Williams seem to be having a resurgence (they were always one of the top teams when I started watching F1, but haven't done so well in recent years) with Alex Albon in fifth and Carlos Sainz Jr in ninth after challenging Lewis on the final lap. Oscar's third win in a row is the first time a McLaren driver has achieved that for over 25 years. You can see the race highlights here. Oscar now leads Lando by 16 points with Max another 16 back. In the Constructors' Championship, McLaren have a huge lead because Red Bull still can't get a team mate for Max who can score good points. There's now a week's break before a triple-header in Europe starting at Imola. News just breaking: The Alpine team look like they're replacing Australian rookie driver Jack Doohan with Argentinian Franco Colapinto after just six races. Jack has had mixed form so far this year with a couple of heavy crashes. Franco drove nine races for Williams last year, but also had mixed results.

  47. I like the way you think Mr. Race Commissioner. I think we should take a week before the race starts to make sure everybody has described their vehicle. And to make sure that everybody who wants to enter and lose to me has time to do so.

Just had a fun idea. Start a Moonshine 400 thread. It can be like Mario Kart and you can make any imaginary vehicle you want. Then after everyone has a vehicle in place we'll take turn posting race action, one post at a time.....like a role play. It will be total chaos....just like Hazzard County. I'll start it if you don't want to.

The race is over, but it's 11pm here, so I'm off to bed. I'll write my report tomorrow when the highlights video is available. In the meantime, instead of the usual drivers' parade lap on the back of a truck, in Miami they drove round the circuit in full-size 2-seater Lego F1 cars. The drivers all seemed to enjoy it, so we may see it again. You can see today's Lego lap here.
