RIP Rick Hurst
Justin and one other reacted to Meadowmufn for a topic
When I first met Rick, it was in the 90's, so the WWW was in its infancy. When I told him about HazzardNet's predecessor (the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department on Prodigy), he was excited there was a community of fans online still discussing and enjoying the show. He told me he'd be right back and when he returned, he handed me an enormous folder of 8x10s, several of them signed. That was very generous of him. I still have them packed away from the move, but when I find them (someday), I will scan them in and put them on the site. When I mentioned where I worked at the time, we had a connection there and he told me some amazing stories. We just had an awesome conversation. He was very personable and gracious. At the Dukesfest in '01, I got to do an impromptu square dance with him and Jimmie. Good times. I would've liked to have gotten to know him better, but my health and work situations over the years didn't permit me to get to events as much as I'd have liked.2 points -
Very sad to hear that Rick has passed away. I would have loved to meet him and get an autograph. He was only at Cooter's Place just this past Sunday. Rest in Peace Rick (Cletus) I hope you're with the rest of the Dukes cast that has gone over the rainbow bridge.1 point

While Garrett and Hobie are fighting it out, nobody is even paying attention to Roger in his souped up white F-150. He's been saving up his nitrous oxide for this moment. He flips the toggle switch and his back gets pushed hard into the seat. The same happens to his head. But something goes wrong. It's too much power. The front wheels are lifted off the road. This might not end well for Roger.1 point -

So as to not take away from Rick's thread, I have moved all the Lalo posts and we can continue discussion of him here:1 point -

Since Rick and Lalo passed on the same day and you folks liked to talk about it, I didn't want Rick's thread to get overrun, so I'm starting this one. Post your favorite Lalo Schifrin music here. Mission: Impossible theme is probably the most memorable of them all. I have the entire soundtrack from the show.1 point -
I don't know Mannix at all. It looks like it was eventually shown in the UK in 1971, but I don't remember ever seeing it in the TV listings, and it's never had a region 2 DVD release. I mentioned 'Dirty Harry' above, but Lalo Schifrin also composed the score for another Clint Eastwood movie, 'Coogan's Bluff'. Anyone who's seen the movie will remember the club scene with Lalo's great parody of late-60's music - 'The Pigeon Toed Orange Peel'.1 point

He also played a security guard on......The Jeffersons ....maybe Good Times( ? ) I think. NO! wait! It was Sanford and Son.....when Fred thought Rollo had stolen Frank Sinatra's ring. He was a hotel guard! He was only 6months younger than my mom! Hard to believe....he had a youthful appearance and demeanor.1 point -
I take these things very hard since Dukes have been a big part of my life when they debuted in 1979 and these actors are truly family. I'm grateful for the HazzardNet because you folks can relate to the pain I'm feeling now. My condolences to all of you. There is a happy reunion in Hazzard Heaven today between Boss, Rosco and Cletus. But there are plenty of tears on Earth for those of us who loved Cletus/Rick. I just checked the family section in my notebook and there is not a whole lot of his family mentioned, except Boss of course. He made his first appearance in season 1 where he was called Boss's cousin. Cletus mentioned his Mama in season 2. He is called Boss's third cousin twice removed in season 3. Cletus mentions his Mama again in season 4.1 point

I can’t believe it in a sense, but there it is. Rick Hurst has crossed the creek on that rainbow bridge, now not only reunited with his kinfolk, but also a lot of the Dukes family who’ve gone on before him. I’m saddened I never got to meet him, I think it would have been fun to know him. God bless y’all. Tom Duke1 point

You're half right. Lalo Schifrin composed the theme music for season 1 of Starsky and Hutch. The more familiar 'Gotcha' theme used for season 2 was written by Tom Scott. A reworked version was also used on season 4. The video below is a cool cover by British jazz funk group the James Taylor Quartet. The season 3 theme was written by Mark Snow. All three of these composers also scored several episode, as did Alan Silvestri who wrote a lot of the music for 'CHiPs' (and many movies including 'Back to the Future').0 points
