Last year on the social media channels, I ran HazzardNet Hysteria (the Dukes version of March Madness). It didn't even occur to me to post about it on the forums. I will be posting polls here for y'all to vote too. Last year it was characters and Uncle Jesse won. This year, it's Battle of the Episodes. And since y'all are the most avid supporters of HazzardNet, you get first crack at the polls! I'll post them here first.

The Ghost of General Lee is always a fun time.

We got a lot of wind but no lightning and not very much rain. Had a little hail. There were tornadoes to the south though.....between here and Pittsburgh.

Now onto the race. Unusually for Australia, it was a wet race. Two of the rookies went out early with Isack Hadjar hitting the wall on the formation lap and Jack Doohan doing the same at turn 5 on the opening lap. After a dry line appeared on the circuit, the drivers briefly switched to dry tires, but fresh rain forced them back onto the intermediate tires. Ferrari gambled on staying out with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc leading for a lap, but ultimately it was the wrong decision as they had to swap tires anyway. Nearly all of the drivers had some kind of off track incident or spin, and only 14 of the 20 starters saw the checkered flag. Once Lando Norris had regained the lead he went on to win, but Max Verstappen was less than a second behind at the end. They were followed home by the Mercedeses of George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, and the Williams of Alex Albon. Oscar Piastri managed to recover from his spin to overtake Lewis Hamilton on the last lap and finish ninth. That leaves McLaren and Mercedes tied at the top of the Constructors' Championship with Red Bull in third. But having more than one RogerDuke around here might be fun... or maybe a disaster. I'm not sure which.

At our previous house, we'd lose electricity just about every time there was a wind storm. It wasn't exactly rural, but it was tucked into a little area down a little road with huge trees all around. We lost power for about 3 days once in winter. That's when I learned about "glamping" (glamorous camping). We made a little campsite around our fireplace since that was the only heat we had. At the new house, I think we only lost power once, for less than an hour, and it was because they were working on infrastructure for a new development.

Easy one for me. Follow That Still is in my top 10 of favorite episodes. And I was a bit disappointed the wedding didn't happen.

If it has Jesse in it.... it has my vote. Although I have to admit the fugitive girl is almost as pretty as Miz Tisdale.

I hope everyone weathered those high winds ok. It's been pretty windy here too. Probably should've secured the ceiling fans on the back patio. Whizz!

I couldn't find Ewen McGuin, but Ewen/Ewan is a Scottish name pronounced yoo-uhn. You may know Scottish actor Ewan McGregor. The Welsh equivalent is Owen. This seems to be the most popular in the US (e.g. actor Owen Wilson, Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Owen Hale etc.). In Ireland it's Eoin or Eoghan (both pronounced like Owen). There all connected to the names Ian and John, and are meant to originally derive from Eugene.

It's pronounced Ay-oh-win. Each storm season, Met Éireann (Ireland) collaborates with the UK Met Office and the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) to come up with a list of storm names. Éowyn was one of the submissions from the UK Met Office. Although it looks like it might be Gaelic, it was probably taken from JRR Tolkien’s 'The Lord of the Rings' where Éowyn is a noblewoman of the kingdom of Rohan.
