  3. it seems to me Garrett and Hobie are neck and neck, barreling toward the finish down the straightaway.....but wait.........!! ................
  4. Garrett puts the gas down and sneaks up on everyone . . .
  5. Thank you for the updates, Hoss. It's great to read about the other types of car races and what's going on with them. NASCAR Cup Series raced last night in Atlanta. As has been the norm lately, sadly I didn't get to watch it as I don't have the channel it was on. But I am excited to report that Chase Elliott ended his 44 race winless streak at his hometown in Atlanta last night!!! I'm sorry for the lack of details, that's the one that struck out to me. NASCAR news

In the Austrian Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz Jnr's Williams broke down on the grid, so only 19 cars started the race. Oscar Piastri started third, but got ahead of Charles Leclerc at the first bend and spent most of the first stint right on Lando Norris' rear wing and even briefly overtook once. Canadian Grand Prix winner George Russell got past Lewis Hamilton at the start, but Hamilton retook the place be the end of the first lap. Max Verstappen was hit by Kimi Antonelli on the first lap, ending both of their races. Max's team mate, Yuki Tsunoda got a 10-second penalty later in the race for causing a collision and was the last car running at the end, so no points for Red Bull at their home track, the Red Bull Ring. It was also a bad day for Williams as their other car driven by Alex Albon had to retire from a top 10 position after 17 laps. The pit stops gave Lando a bit of breathing space at the front, but there were some good battles behind. After the second pit stops, Oscar was catching Lando, but Lando managed to hang on to the lead through the back markers and took the win for a McLaren 1-2. Oscar's lead in the drivers' championship is now down to 15 points. Ferrari finished third and fourth, and overtook Mercedes in the constructors' championship. Liam Lawson scored his best F1 finish in sixth. Liam had a bad start to the season at Red Bull and got demoted to their junior team RB (Racing Bulls). He now has two more points than Yuki Tsunoda who replaced him! Gabriel Bortoleto also had a great result scoring his first F1 points in eighth in his Sauber. You can see the race highlights here. Next week it's the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It's the only race of the year that gets shown live here on free-to-air TV, but the weather will determine if I stay in to watch it live.
  10. I remember the Mission Impossiblr one from when I was 5-7 yrs. old but for the life of me I can't remember the Steve McQueen one!
  11. I'm not going to argue with that, but can you listen to this without thinking of Steve McQueen in a Highland Green Ford Mustang?
  12. Great move. It such a shame that we lost both of them on the same day as the both have great legacies to celebrate.
  13. So as to not take away from Rick's thread, I have moved all the Lalo posts and we can continue discussion of him here:
  14. Since Rick and Lalo passed on the same day and you folks liked to talk about it, I didn't want Rick's thread to get overrun, so I'm starting this one. Post your favorite Lalo Schifrin music here. Mission: Impossible theme is probably the most memorable of them all. I have the entire soundtrack from the show.
  15. I don't know Mannix at all. It looks like it was eventually shown in the UK in 1971, but I don't remember ever seeing it in the TV listings, and it's never had a region 2 DVD release. I mentioned 'Dirty Harry' above, but Lalo Schifrin also composed the score for another Clint Eastwood movie, 'Coogan's Bluff'. Anyone who's seen the movie will remember the club scene with Lalo's great parody of late-60's music - 'The Pigeon Toed Orange Peel'.
  16. we're in the stretch and Daisy's makin' eyes at me! I'm really pumped up for a BIG finish!
  17. Daisy was and still is VERY PRETTY!!

  20. I'm going to take the lead. I know of a nice shortcut(oh crap is this CB radio on, Rosco you dumb bell)...I mean I had a good breakfast of raw liver and onions and I'm ready to go.
  21. The Dukes OF Hazzard
  22. My favorite Lalo Schifrin TV theme is Mannix.
  23. Any fans?
  24. HossC... Pretty cool versions. Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ˜€
  25. You're half right. Lalo Schifrin composed the theme music for season 1 of Starsky and Hutch. The more familiar 'Gotcha' theme used for season 2 was written by Tom Scott. A reworked version was also used on season 4. The video below is a cool cover by British jazz funk group the James Taylor Quartet. The season 3 theme was written by Mark Snow. All three of these composers also scored several episode, as did Alan Silvestri who wrote a lot of the music for 'CHiPs' (and many movies including 'Back to the Future').
