Well, unlike the sprint race, the main event got away cleanly apart from a little contact near the back resulting in a spin for Alex Albon. Max Verstappen held his first place off the start, but Charles Leclerc got past Lando Norris. That cost Lando dearly as Charles had the softer, faster tires and that kept him ahead for a large chunk of the race, and allowed Max to build an unassailable lead. Lando did eventually pass Charles, but the positions swapped back at the pit stops. Lando eventually reclaimed the second place he started from. Carlos Sainz's good weekend finished early when he hit Kimi Antonelli and had to retire. Oliver Bearman had a spin trying to pass Yuki Tsunoda, but both finished in the top 10. As I reported last night, Max won the race ahead of Lando and Charles. Singer Shaboozey waved the checkered flag. Lewis Hamilton was having a good race until he had a brake issue with a few laps to go. He just managed to hold onto fourth place ahead of a lacklustre drive by championship leader Oscar Piastri. Oscar is now only 14 points ahead of Lando, but more amazingly he's only 40 points ahead of Max after his two victories this weekend. You can see the race highlights here. Next week it's the Mexican Grand Prix.
  3. I don't do many long journeys, but luckily I don't recall seeing anyone doing that on my recent trip to Galway, although I'm sure it happens regularly over here. Maybe I'm imagining it, but people here seem to drive much more hesitantly lately. I thought it could be the reduced driving during the Covid lockdowns, but that was a while ago now. Sometimes I approach a junction thinking I'll easily get out because there's a huge gap, but the car in front stops dead and waits for nothing. Then there are the drivers who drive at well under the speed limit completely oblivious to the long queue behind them. That's my two cents.
  4. What I'm doing right now, is thinking about how comforting it is to be in Hazzard, or to watch the show. When you run in to a stressful situation, you just, " Head to Hazzard" . You can literally, both while the shows are playing or sitting practically anywhere, get lost in Hazzard, in a much simpler, more relaxing world, where you know everybody and everybody knows you and they all share your opinion on stuff and your view on life! It even helps you sleep. I just close my eyes and think about an episode or make up an episode in my head! Then it's off to La La land until next morning. Hey, We've even discussed other plot episodes etc. on here before! Or what would this character do in this situation, etc. When you can lose yourself in this world and all its infinite possibilities, it makes life easier and more comfortable, enjoyable etc.
  5. All this is true but what it is, is an under development of the Psyche. You know, when you're a kid and you do crazy stuff and then get older and learn to drive and you drive crazy....nothing's going to happen! That happens to other people! ( You ARE other people!) Hey! It's never happened before! I know what I'm doing! It's an adolescent sense of invulnerability Then most people ( SOME people??) as they mature and their brain develops, learn that yes, they to can die and no it's not just other people! 5/15/82! I was a junior in high school, passenger in my friend's car and he was flying and we hit a phone pole. I was in a coma for a week and in the hospital for a month. Some people never fully develop mentally.
  6. Gilligan's Island logic ๐Ÿคฃ In Season 2's "V for Vitamins," the castaways freak out about an orange shortage, but they've got pineapples, mangoes, papayas, grapefruits, and lemons galore! All packed with Vitamin C! Why the orange panic? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Only on the island, folks! #GilligansIsland #IslandLife #VitaminC

  9. Relaxing now after getting home from Northern Virginia. It's 300 miles one way, much of it is on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. People are idiots. I get that I am getting older and lost my daughter to a careless driver 2 years ago but there is more to it than that. Just about every time you see somebody crossing the line they are doing so because the life of the person they are cutting off has less value to them than their text or fantasy football team. We have reached a point where an electronic device matters more than a life. And when you point this out to idiots you know who text and drive the person just says "Well, maybe they were texting a person who was having a medical emergency or maybe their child was in danger". There is a chance in a billion it was something like that.

  17. Hey Christine fans! ๐Ÿ˜Š Diving into the creepy world of Christine, what's your take? Is it more chilling when the car's fused with Roland D. NASCAR news

Today's F1 sprint race at Austin was full of more drama than usual. Continuing his recent run of good form, Max Verstappen claimed pole position ahead of the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri with Nico Hulkenberg in a great fourth position. Max made a good start with Oscar making a better start than Lando. At the first corner, Nico and Oscar collided and also took out Lando and Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin bringing out the safety car. At the restart, Max stayed ahead of George Russell's Mercedes, although George did unsuccessfully challenge for the lead three laps later. Just after that, Charles Leclerc went wide in his Ferrari allowing team mate Lewis Hamilton to get by. With three laps to go, Lance Stroll hit Esteban Ocon's Haas taking out both cars and meaning non-finishes for both Aston Martins. Unlike NASCAR, the race finished under a safety car as the cars don't refuel and don't have enough to do extra laps. At the flag, Max took the win and eight points. That further closes the gap to the non-finishing McLaren drivers. George got second and Carlos Sainz took an impressive third for Williams ahead of the two Ferraris. You can see the highlights here. Due to the time difference, I won't see the qualifying highlights for the main race until tomorrow morning, and it may be Monday before I post the race review.
