  6. Did the Titanic doom itself? I think so! Three critical mistakes might have sealed its fate: Turning starboard towards the iceberg instead of port to avoid it Reversing engines, which reduced momentum and maneuverability Excessive speed creating a wake that drifted the ship into the iceberg What do you think? Could these mistakes have been avoided? Share your thoughts!

Sorry, I'm a little late with my Miami Grand Prix summary, but the result changed slightly after the race, so it worked out in the end. As before this season, Kimi Antonelli didn't get the best start, and was passed by Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, although Max almost immediately had a spin which lost him several places. In the opening laps, Kimi briefly retook the lead before Charles got it back, and then Lando Norris took second from Kimi. As that was happening, Isack Hadjar hit the barrier and Pierre Gasly flipped over before landing the right way up. Both drivers were fine, but it brought out the safety car. When the pit stops came around, Charles had a slow stop which slipped him back a little. By about the mid-race point, Kimi got past Lando and Max (who'd pitted earlier). In almost a mirror of Max's first lap, Charles had a spin on the last lap and lost a couple of places. At the checkered flag it was Kimi in the Mercedes in first for his third win in a row. Behind him were the McLarens of Lando and Oscar Piastri ahead of the other Mercedes of George Russell. Max fought back to fifth, and the video linked below shows Charles ending up in sixth, but a post-race penalty dropped him to eighth behind Lewis Hamilton and Franco Colapinto. The race highlights are here. There's now a 3-week gap until the Canadian Grand Prix from the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal.
  8. Yep And you aren't going to believe what I have planned. You will never guess. Okay, I can't wait. I have to say it. I'll be on Emma's postal dirt bike but she is going to be operating it remotely on top of Iron Mountain where she can see the entire race. Ain't no way anybody can beat me and her when we team up. I have to give you credit Hobie with your buttermilk comment. I thought it would be fun to have a buttermilk in each hand so you inspired me by saying I was racing with one hand. I'm taking this to the next level. You might have noticed I've been delivering the mail in my truck lately. That's because Emma has been at Elon Musk's house these past couple days and they are working on the bike. I have to admit I am a little concerned. She is quite a catch. I hope he doesn't get any ideas and try to steal her from me.
  9. Well guys....I'm tuning up the Moonshine Mauler, getting ready for the big race. on Sat. the 9th !! I've got a few tricks up my sleeve....don't know if they're legal or not but in a dirty no holds barred race like The Moonshine 400, anything goes!! SO.....I'm making plans and adding a few new devices to my ride for the race on Sat. ! Do you guys have any special equipment or tactics?
  10. Did you watch the WURTH 400 in Texas? That was ok but neither one of my drivers won!
  11. Last week
  12. Besides all that, I refuse to pay the crazy prices for computer phones etc. There are only a handful of occupations, where you actually NEED a computer phone, so the rest is called " Just wait until you get home to look it up". People pay exhorbitant prices to be hip, cool, with the " In " crowd etc. I will not!
  13. Although I use my phone to check HNet when I'm out of the house, I make well over 90% of my contributions from a laptop. The ability to easily switch between multiple tabs and multiple sources, and having an actual keyboard to type on means that I can't imagine getting nearly as involved with smaller devices. Roger, I don't know how big your tablet is, but I'm sure the larger screen benefits your viewing of photos and videos.
  14. On March 17, 2026 I scored Clive Cussler's Raise the Titanic! at my local B&N (Barnes & Noble) for $10.99 + tax. Wasn't expecting to find it on the shelf, and got a surprise - it's in Mystery Thrillers, not Fiction! ๐Ÿ˜„ Guess it's a win-win! #RaiseTheTitanic #CliveCussler I have finished reading it now for the first time. Anyone else ever read it?

After the opening races of the F1 season were dominated by Mercedes, Kimi Antonelli could only qualify in second for the Sprint race yesterday, sandwiched between the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. In the race, Kimi lost out at the start and McLaren went on to finish first and second. Although Kimi fought his way back to fourth behind Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, a penalty saw him relegated to sixth behind George Russell and Max Verstappen. Cadillac have improved slightly to be competing in the mid-field. The sprint race highlights are here. In the qualifying for the main race, Oscar Piastri came close to an early exit, but eventually put his car in seventh. At the front, there are four different teams in the first four places. Kimi Antonelli got pole ahead of Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris. Qualifying highlights are here. If anyone's planning to watch the main race live, please note that the race time has been brought forward three hours to 1pm local time due to a predicted thunderstorm.

F1 is finally back this weekend with the Miami Grand Prix, but I'll post about that later. First, I read the sad news earlier that Alex Zanardi died yesterday at 59 years old. The Italian driver spent a few years in F1 before moving to the US where he won the CART World Series in 1997 and 1998 with Chip Ganassi Racing. After that, he had another brief stint in F1 before returning CART. In 2001, he lost both legs in a terrible crash in Germany, and survived for nearly an hour with less than a litre (under two pints) of blood left in his body. Undaunted by the injury, he returned to various forms of motor racing., but it was racing handbikes where he really succeeded once more becoming a four-time Paralympic gold medallist and 12-time world champion. There was a minute's silence for Alex Zanardi before today's Miami F1 sprint race. There's a full article at bbc.com.
  17. I'm outta reactions. So ๐Ÿ˜‚ for the second part.
  18. I'm good with opening links but I'm still ignorant on screen shots! You're trying to show me up huh cousin? LOL!
  19. Hey Garrett! It's good to see you bud! Hey, just remember OUR race, the Moonshine 400! Remember last year? You were the winner! This year you will need to defend your championship! I plan on giving The Moonshine Mauler an extra .....uh special tune up.....just to make sure you don't rough me up right at the last, like you did last year! LOL! Not only will you need to guard against me but cousin Roger and his unequaled skill, of driving with only one hand......while chugging Buttermilk straight from the carton!! LOL!
  20. MOONSHINE 400!! Hey guys! The 2nd Annual Moonshine 400 snuck up on us! ( on me?? ) We're now in the 1st week of may....( 5/4/25 was the 1st annual !!) and so I figure instead of having it tomorrow on the second, we could spend this week preparing for it and all the things we need to do, watch out for etc. and then NEXT Sat, on May 9th, we can have the official 2nd Annual Moonshine 400! Then we can all meet at the Boar's Nest and congratulate the winner and console the losers....with my special " Back 40 Moon" and cousin Roger's Boar's Nest Buttermilk!
  21. well cousin, we hope you're having fun, wherever you are on the holiday! Fun is what it's all about on Dukes Of Hazzard Day! If you get back anytime soon, stop in and say " HEY! " We'll all be down at the Boar's Nest doing what you imagine we'd be doing!!
  22. OK Fellow Hazzardites.....your local Hazzard beer taste tester is here and ready for action! I'm on the desk top and about to enjoy communing with the spirits and of course watching DOH!! What has ( or is ?) everybody else done to celebrate this international holiday?
  23. This is why Daytona and Talladega isn't a favorite to me. It's all about the big one and all the accidents. I am glad no one got hurt in the accidents, though.
  24. Probably won't be home until midnight.
  25. I can do it. I've gotten pretty good with tech lately. My wife just showed me how to open links. It's not really that hard. You just click on it and all the information pops up. I asked her to show me how to do a screen shot so hopefully in a few weeks I'll get good at doing those too. Is there anything else I need to know?
  26. maybe you'll be back in time to catch some of the holiday and watch some episodes later with us???
