  1. Eagle Rock VALLEY Where the kidnappers take Jesse in 'Witness:Jesse Duke'.
  2. Is your wife new to Facebook/the internet? I was seeing jokes about the sub almost from the moment it went missing, and I don't even do Facebook. You might not like it, but it's hardly unexpected.
  3. JUDY JEREMIAH Pretty Piggy contestant.
  4. I'm like the girl that comedian Steven Wright was dating: "She was a bilingual illiterate… she couldn’t read in two different languages."
  5. From bbc.com/news: What happens in an implosion? When a submarine hull collapses, it moves inward at about 1,500mph (2,414km/h) - that's 2,200ft (671m) per second, says Dave Corley, a former US nuclear submarine officer. The time required for complete collapse is about one millisecond, or one thousandth of a second. A human brain responds instinctually to a stimulus at about 25 milliseconds, Mr Corley says. Human rational response - from sensing to acting - is believed to be at best 150 milliseconds. The air inside a sub has a fairly high concentration of hydrocarbon vapours. When the hull collapses, the air auto-ignites and an explosion follows the initial rapid implosion, Mr Corley says. Human bodies incinerate and are turned to ash and dust instantly.
  6. They were trying to dive 3,810m (12,500ft) beneath the ocean in a submersible that the owners didn't bother get certified (many say it would've failed) because there was a queue of people willing to spend $250,000 each to do so. Carbon fiber and titanium are strong materials, but the pressure at that depth is enormous. It's estimated that the sub imploded at a depth of 3,500 metres (11,483ft) - that's still over two miles straight down!
  7. Welcome to HNet. That post is 18 years old, so the group may no longer exist. Benvenuti in HNet. Quel post ha 18 anni, quindi il gruppo potrebbe non esistere più.
  8. I don't know bikes, and it's not listed on IMCDb, but here are the best pictures I could get of Cooter's bike from 'Luke's Love Story'.
  9. Air raid A farthing was worth 1/4d, i.e a quarter of an old penny when there were 240 pennies to the pound. The British Farthing ceased to be legal tender on December 31, 1960. Even the Irish Farthing was phased out before I was born, so I don't have either. I do remember the post-decimal 1/2p or ha'penny which was in circulation until the end of 1984, but I don't think I have any.
  10. We're getting an odd mixture of weather at the moment. Most of the time the temperature's in the low- to mid-20s Celcius (70s Fahrenheit), but then we get occasional torrential rain that's too much for the drain to cope with.
  11. I'm fixing to give Y'ALL some elements to make up a pretty good Dukes YARN. Waylon's intro to "The Ransom of Hazzard County". Vietnam is the logical conclusion, but I was asking whether it was explicitly mentioned in any episode. I don't remember the word "Vietnam" appearing in the show.
  12. Jack WHITMAN Director of 5 episodes It's Mr. Terwilliger. There was also a Betty Sue Terwilliger in 'Return of the Ridge Raiders'. Does it ever explicitly say that in the show? In 'The Great Hazzard Hijack', they say that Phil Ackley is "the one that saved Luke's life during the war", but I don't think Vietnam is ever mentioned.
  13. I can't find any other mentions of Salt Walther on HNet. According to Wikipedia, he also raced unlimited hydroplane boats. It looks like his 1979 appearances in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' and 'The Rockford Files' were his only acting credits. Following the crash, Walther apparently became addicted to pain killers, and despite a few comeback attempts, his later life included a few drug convictions and jail time. His death at the age of 65 was the result of a drug overdose. Here's a video about the crash.
  14. The bull horns get knocked off by the step ladder when Cletus crashes into Boss' Cadillac as the Dukes re-steal the Christmas trees. It may have been accidental, but the episode is consistent after that. I'm sure Cooter can re-attach them for $35.42!
  15. MAURY Played by David Graf in 'The Canterbury Crock'.
  16. I think Miz Tisdale only appeared in 12 episodes, so she may have only ridden a dirt bike in three. A few months ago I made a list of the bikes and trikes that appeared on the show over in the Happy Birthday Miz Tisdale thread. I don't know if you saw it.
  17. 'Double Dukes' was the second episode of season 4, but Miz Tisdale rides off on a dirt bike in 'The Hack of Hazzard' near the end of season 3. Jesse rides in her sidecar in 'Miz Tisdale on the Lam'.
  18. I saw this on the news yesterday, and of course it reminded me of Dukes, especially as it took place in Georgia. The car hit the tow truck ramp at full speed and flew 120 feet (36.5 m). The 21-year-old female driver from Tallahassee survived, but is in hospital. It shows how you must always pay attention when driving.
  19. Elmore VINCENT Played Doc Appleby in 'Dear Diary' (he was usually played by Parley Baer).

    NASCAR news

Monaco is one of the most famous races on the F1 calendar with the cars driving around the narrow historic streets of the principality. After an early crash in qualifying, Red Bull's Sergio Perez started from the back, while his team mate, Max Verstappen, started on pole. Monaco is a track where overtaking is virtually impossible, but some did take place in the midfield and towards the back. There were also some exciting moments when rain started falling about 2/3 of the way through the race. Some drivers pitted early for intermediate tires while others staying out on slicks. Surprisingly, there were no big crashes and no safety cars. In the end, Max Verstappen led the whole race to take another victory, despite clipping the barriers a couple of times along the way. Sergio Perez only made it up to 16th, so the top four places were filled by four different manufacturers: Red Bull, Aston Martin, Alpine and Mercedes. It was a great result for Fernando Alonso (2nd) and Esteban Ocon (3rd). Lewis Hamilton (4th) was driving an upgraded car, but Monaco isn't a representative track, and the rain also confused the issue, so whether it's the step forward they were hoping for will be revealed next week in Spain. Aston Martin and Mercedes are now only a point apart in 2nd and 3rd, but Red Bull have more points than both of them together.
  21. It's part of a scene from about halfway through 'Sittin' Dukes' in season 7. Here's the full scene: Sheriff Little is interrogating Jesse and Daisy with Boss and Rosco watching. Sheriff Little: Who put you up to driving that truck? Daisy: Them escaped convicts, that's who. Jesse: And nobody put us up to it. They made us do it. Just like they made Bo and Luke drive that car. Rosco: Oh, tish, tush, tiddly-walker. Are you trying to tell me that Luke Duke did not know this Benson fella in the Marine Corps? Daisy: Well, sure they were in the Marines together, Rosco. Jesse: But they weren't buddies. As a matter of fact, Luke sent that Benson fella to the brig. Rosco: Oh, baloney. Boss: Bologna. Did you say bologna? Rosco: Yes, I said, baloney. Boss: Where is it? Rosco: Oh, these Dukes are dishing out the baloney. Sheriff Little: Are you two gonna talk or am I gonna have to spend the rest of the day grilling you, huh? Boss: Wait, please don't use that word, "grill". It reminds me of hamburgers, frankfurters and barbeques. Rosco: Ahh. Boss: Listen, I got an idea. Why don't we just break for lunch? Sheriff Little: [To Boss and Rosco] You two ain't going nowhere. [Turning to Jesse and Daisy] Neither are these two, until you talk. Now, I've cracked some hard-boiled eggs before. Boss: Hard-boiled eggs. Daisy: Will y'all just stop fishing around and try and help Bo and Luke? Boss: Fish. I can't stand it anymore. I gotta have something to eat. Give me something to eat. Anything. I'll eat anything. Anything. Give me something to eat. Boss then runs out to try and take the dog biscuit that Enos is feeding to Flash.
