  1. Those are great. I haven't played The Sims in quite a while. In fact, it's not even loaded on my new (as of April 2004) computer! I think I'll just get Sims 2.0 this week. =) Thanks for all those cool HNet Sims! That one of the Deputy on the computer is perfect. I think she spends more time workin' on this place than I do. If this place is still around when I kick the bucket (hopefully in about 100 years LOL), I bequeath it to the Deputy. LOL. Mufn
  2. Run, kitty, run!!! And you can't forget these guys! http://www.rathergood.com/independent_woman/
  3. I wish I did! Wouldn't work as well on a TransAm tho'.
  4. I realize this should probably go in the Music section, but somehow it just fit here.
  5. Now Amos Moses was a Cajun, He lived by hisse'f in the swamp. He hunted alligators for a livin', He just knocked 'em in the head with a stump. The Louisiana law gonna get ya Amos It ain't legal hunting alligators down in the swamp, boy Now everybody blames his old man, For makin' him mean as a snake, When Amos Moses was a boy His daddy would use him for alligator bait. Tie a rope around his neck, and throw him in the swamp, Alligator bait in a Louisiana bayou About 45 minutes southeast of Thibodeaux, Louisiana Lived a man named Doc Milsap and his pretty wife Hanna Well, they raised up a son that could eat up his weight in groceries, Named him after a man of the cloth, Called him Amos Moses Now, all the folks around south Louisiana Said Amos was a hell of a man He could trap the biggest, the meanest alligator And just use one hand That's all he got left cause da alligator bit it Left arm gone clean up to the elbow Well the sheriff caught wind that Amos Was in the swamp trappin' alligator skin So he snuck in the swamp, gonna get da boy, But he never come out again. Well, I wonder where the Louisiana sheriff went to? You can sure get lost in da Louisiana bayou! About 45 minutes southeast of Thibodeaux, Louisiana Lived a cat called Doc Milsap and his pretty wife Hanna Well, they raised a son who could eat up his weight in groceries, Named him after a man of the cloth, Called him Amos Moses Sit down on 'im, Amos Make it count, son! About 45 minutes southeast of Thibodeaux, Louisiana....
  6. Even though Rosco has been cast already, I thought of a great actor to play Rosco... Christopher Guest. He has the comedic talent and can do a fair southern accent. Whaddya'll think?
  7. Sometimes I wonder why I even gave you two the passwords to this place. But, when you're not wreaking havok, you take good care of the place. Thanks. Anyway, you thought I wouldn't notice the Meeting Minutes, eh? Do you need remindin' who owns this operation? 8) And Brian, I think we need to take up a collection for you to get a new computer... Perhaps we'll pass the hat around the forums or put a collection plate at the front door. LOL.
  8. This is my 'bird, Ellis. (Yes, I name my cars.) Ain't he purty? Now, I just gotta adopt an older brother for him... a 1970 1/2 Ram Air IV 400.
  9. In case any of you Firebird fans are interested, JC Whitney has the KITT lights for sale... I may just see if they'll work on a '98 Trans Am. LOL. Also, for some great graphics (if you're not doing a KITT replica), try Phoenix Grafix (http://www.phoenixgraphix.com). I bought some really cool patriotic decals for the license plate cover, the Pontiac name on the headlight covers and for the Pontiac name on the back bumper. I don't think I got them from Phoenix, however, and I can't seem to find the website anymore. I'll post here if I ever find the website again. Btw, anyone interested in separate car forums? I have two domain names I bought with some ideas to develop them, but just haven't had time. One's a Trans Am/Firebird oriented site and one's more general classic car oriented. Lemme know if any of you'd be interested and I'll set 'em up! -Mufn
  10. I've gotten my Trans Am up to... uh.. well, let's say that the speedometer goes up to 150 and I've gotten it up to 87% of that. Do the math. And it figures that when I DO get a speeding ticket, it's when I'm only going 10 miles over the limit, eh?
  11. Tempest66, How much for that car?! LOL. I love it, one of my all time favorite cars. Now, I'll have to post a pic of my Trans Am... I've always been partial to Pontiacs. In fact, I think I'll go post it in the HN Garage right now.. if I can find a photo. Anyway, my hubby saw your car on the screen and now he wants one (poor man has no wheels of his own.. he gave his car to his mom). We'll have to go looking in our area soon. LOL. Anyway, the forums have been upgraded to the latest version so hopefully a lot of the security holes have been fixed. This wasn't the first time this has happened and it probably won't be the last, but at least the damage was fairly minimized this time. -Mufn
  12. Yeah, they can't get rid of us that easy. A HUGE thanks to http://www.hostingmatters.com for the quick reinstall of the backup data. They had the forums ready to go again within hours of my tech support email, but I wanted to see if I could recover some more data from other files I had. Thanks to all of you for your patience!
  13. Ok, I think we've done about all we can for the recovery. Unfortunately, we lost about 3 or 4 days worth of posts and private messages. If you changed your password after Sept. 14th or registered after Sept. 14th, you may have to use your old password or re-register. We upgraded to the latest software and we should be good to go.
  14. Believe it or not, Nel isn't at home. Please leave a message at the beep. I must be out Or I'd pick up the phone. Where could I beeeeeee? Believe it or not, I'm not home. LOL. Just followin' up from an earlier post, the Greatest American Hero was one of my faves too. It was corny as hell, but that's what made it so fun. I hear Disney's makin' a movie of it too. I hope it comes out on DVD soon!
  15. Ditto here... lost opportunity to make a friend. I was offering an opportunity for you to share your heritage with us. All of us "outsiders" all know we will never be TRUE southerners. I think I distinctly said that. But that doesn't mean some of us don't have a distinct connection to the South. And if you expect someone to treat you kindly and with respect, perhaps you should do the same to others. You don't even know the situation regarding my mother leaving the South, so I wouldn't go calling her a defector. They left during the Dust Bowl because they were farmers and didn't have anything left to farm. They packed all their worldly possessions on the back of a truck and my mama left at the age of 6. And perhaps it's attitudes like yours that kept her from ever going back. Being angry at the world only gets you anger back. And if you're a conservative, God-fearing individual then you must be well versed in the Golden Rule. Just cuz I'm from Cali doesn't mean I'm Hollywood or a bleeding heart liberal. Just ask Bri, he knows. LOL. I don't pretend to be Southern. I already told you that. If you shout at those who are trying to be your friends, you're not gunna have a lot of friends. We all share a common bond here, and that's the show. Let's stick to that topic, ok?
  16. Ok, before the next Civil War starts here on the board, let's nip this thing in the bud, ok? We all love the Dukes and we won't stand for posturing on this board as to who loves them more or who has the right to love them more or who can claim them as their own. Sway, don't you understand that by your saying that a Yankee is incapable of "getting" the Dukes, you're giving creedence to the myth that a Southerner isn't smart enough to get "sophisticated" humor or couldn't survive in the big city. Both are simply not true. "Yankees" are capable of "getting" the Dukes. Anybody is. Just as Southerners are able to adapt to big city life. Humans are humans and by nature are an adaptable and understanding species. You're just lucky enough to live in the culture in which the show takes place. Where you are born has no bearing on your intelligence, your understanding, your empathy. That all comes from your upbringing. I was lucky enough to be brought up by a Southerner and I do feel a connection to the South, but I do not claim it as a birthright or anything. I'm sure there are many folks out there that feel a connection to the South. Their feelings are genuine even though they may never be a true "Southerner". Instead of continuing this tirade of "this is mine, hands off", why don't we emphasis our common ground, love of the Dukes and love of the South. Just because someone's not from England doesn't mean they can't enjoy all things English. Just because someone's not a good cook doesn't mean they can't appreciate and understand the love and hard work that goes into good barbecue. Sway, your lack of understanding that OTHER people can understand the South hurts your heritage more than you know. It perpetuates all the bad stereotypes you hate. So why don't you share with us all the great things about your Southern heritage so we can enjoy them too and reinforce all the great things you say about it.
  17. If you like our pension plan, wait til you see our DENTAL plan! MUAHAHAHAHAHA! Deputy Coltrane, have you seen my rusty pliers around here anywhere??
  18. Since the folks makin' the movie are givin' time to the political correctness police, shouldn't they have to give equal time to those who can explain why it's not right to have the General Lee without that flag? It's like a peacock without its feathers. It's like a hotdog without the bun. It's like Wisconsin WITHOUT CHEESE (or brats, or beer)! It's like Snap, without Crackle and Pop. It's like Yin without Yang. It just doesn't work. Perhaps they should give Bri 5 minutes at the beginning of the movie to rant. =)
  19. Did I get here too late to join the genealogy debate? Lesseee here, I'm from Cal-ee-for-NYE-ay, by way of Arkansas (my mama was from there), Kansas, Georgia, ol' Virginny (the half that later became West Virginny), Pennsylvania, Colorado, Iowa, South Dakota, South Carolina, Missour-ah, Scotland, Ireland, England, and all parts in between. I had family fight for the confederates an' some for the union. Now I'm in Washington. So what does that make me? Hell if I know! =) Guess I'm just plain American. But I love the Dukes and I love the values portrayed on the show. And those are the values my parents taught me and I grew up with.
  20. Hey, Darrell. Glad you found us. What took you so long? We've been around for quite a while, as HazzardNet.com since 1998, and before that as The Hazzard County Sheriff's Department website since 1996 (we're workin' on resurrectin' that site, complete with its own domain name). So stay tuned! We're not goin' anywhere. And our goal is to make this place as busy as the Boar's Nest on a Saturday night too!
  21. Howdy! Hope you enjoy your stay here. -Nel
  22. Well, the "Unofficial Companion" is by no means thorough. You could probably fill an encyclopedia with Dukes trivia. =) I'm sure there's someone out there that knows the answer. It's all a matter of trackin' 'em down. You could ask Ben Jones. I think he's kept in touch with a lot of the drivers and crew and they might know. And here's some more trivia, if you've read The Unofficial Companion cover to cover, you'll know that I'm listed in the acknowledgments for addin' a little research to the effort. Enough of tootin' my own horn (it plays Dixie, ya know), I do believe we have a pic or two of Cooter's tow truck on the site. Check the FAQ page. It's probably there. Nel
  23. Good Lord. I leave y'all alone for a little bit and all of a sudden you're all in drag!
