  1. In any fandom, there will be differing opinions on what folks like and what they dislike. The purpose of this forum is to provide the opportunity to express those views WITHOUT being knocked for expressing them. We encourage open and honest discussion on our boards, but squabbling gets us no where. So, knock it off (and that means everybody) or we'll have to release the forum nazis.
  2. Doh! Don't you disrespect Shemp! LOL. I'll have you know Shemp was the original third Stooge when their act started in Vaudeville. He replaced Curly in the shorts when Curly suffered a stroke. If it weren't for Shemp, there might not have been a Three Stooges and even if there were, they wouldn't have lasted as long as they did. Joe Besser was infinitely bad. To lump Shemp in with him is just criminal. I might have to cuff ya n' stuff ya. Khee!
  3. Welcome to HazzardNet, J.D.! HazzardNet is indeed a family. Like any family, we have our black sheep (Brian... hehehe) and we have our dysfunctional moments, but mostly we get along just fine. Anyway, welcome and enjoy yourself at HazzardNet!
  4. Even though the part was wrong for him, I think Jimmie was the only saving grace of The Brain Machine. It was a heaping pile of doggy doo. Jimmie's mentioned that Killer Shrews was the worst movie he ever made, but I'd have to disagree. Killer Shrews was much more entertaining than The Brain Machine. The plot for BM (as I'll refer to it from now on) was incredibly convoluted, the characters were unbelievable, and by the time Jimmie's character died, we'd completely lost interest. LOL. However, we did give his dying scene a standing ovation. As cheesy as that scene was, it was the only decent acting in the movie. I'm pretty partial to Left Handed Gun and Firecreek. Jimmie did some great work in those old westerns. Too bad most folks just know him as Rosco and don't know much about his other work.
  5. Oh lawdy. As long as there's breath in my body, the forums will NOT be pink with purple polka dots. So Brian, cross that right off yer list of things to do if the Deputy loses this one.
  6. By "wince", I'm assuming you mean any scene with Lulu in it. Am I correct? LOL. Cuz that's when *I* winced. So did my hubby. LOL. Actually, he winced through the whole thing. Khee! Usually our hound will watch Dukes of Hazzard when we watch it on CMT. She wouldn't even be in the same room when the movie was on tonight. LOL. I guess you could surmise her opinion of it.
  7. I must add that I think Flash was the best part of the movie. What a cutie!
  8. Well, it's about 45 minutes til the end and I've lost interest. Honestly, I lost interest about half an hour ago. It's definitely not "Dukes", but it's better than the crap I expected. Considering how bad I hear the movie was (I haven't brought myself to watch it yet), my expectations were so low, it'd be hard not to succeed in some way. LOL. If I had kids, I wouldn't let 'em watch it, but as far as teenage or "adult" entertainment, I suppose you could do worse. Nothing really tied the movie together. I felt like it was all over the place. Perhaps that's why I lost interest. Anyway... If I had to sum it up in one word, I'd say "Blah".
  9. We set a new record tonight of 120 users on at the same time. Woo hoo!
  10. For those of you who've seen Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning, on ABC Family or on DVD, post your reviews here!
  11. Ok, folks. We have another photoshop contest going. Make a General Lee! Pick a vehicle, building, person, ANYTHING, and give it a General Lee paint job. Check out the number I did on this Plymouth Arrow. Subtle, yet makes a statement, don't it? http://www.hazzardnet.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=707
  12. Think about what products that would affect! It's staggering. Cooking oils, meat, popcorn, ears of corn, sweeteners, starches, any food product that includes high-fructose corn syrup (which is damn near everything. LOL), will be more expensive. Just for fun, go through your kitchen and see what has corn or corn products in it.
  13. I love it! I love it! They're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz...
  14. Aha! I had to refresh the usergroups in the gallery from the forum software. Would've been nice if I had noticed that a week ago, huh? Give it a try now and let me know if you're still having problems.
  15. Here's our first photoshop contest! Submit an altered photo of the General Lee jumping. You can upload it to the contest gallery here: http://www.hazzardnet.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=545 It can be jumping famous landmarks, wildlife, through famous photos, and whatnot. The more outrageous the whatnot, the more fun the contest will be. Just keep it clean! Here's an example to get y'all started. http://www.hazzardnet.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=680
  16. Howdy! We've decided to run a few photoshop contests for fun. This forum is where we'll post new contests, guidelines, and discussions about the entries. We'll have a few rules to follow, so please check here or in the contest threads to determine if your entry will meet our requirements. Our current rules (subject to change) are: 1. Keep it clean. This is a family site, ya know. If the judges deem any entry to be inappropriate for display on this site, it will be disqualified. No ifs, ands, or buts. 2. Admins may participate, but cannot "win" a contest... since we're the judges. 3. The judges' decisions are final. By participating in our contests, you agree to be bound by these rules (and whatever rules we make up later).

As long as Eric doesn't find that link, I'll be fine. Otherwise, he'll play it over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over... GAAAAAAAH! I like the song, but once is enough.
  18. Deadline's passed. So, are we tossin' Brian in the hoose gow or what?
  19. I'd be the owner of the Busy Bee Cafe... only it would be an Internet Cafe now. I'd be webmaster of the county website and Boss Hogg'd hire me to build websites advertising all his companies. And, um, I'd have no knowledge of Boss Hogg's *cough* illegal *cough* gambling *cough* websites.
  20. James Avery was also the voice of Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I only know this because my husband is a huge TMNT fan. LOL.
  21. The chat room has been integrated into the new forums. Just click on the "Chat" option in the forums navbar and choose to chat in a forum web page or have the chat room pop open in another window. You can view how many people are chatting in the upper right hand corner of the forums under the Private Messages listing. Have fun chatting!
  22. As far as I know, there was no way to cap sizes on avatars on the old board. Even so, avatars weren't the only problem... sigs were too. And I'm pretty sure there was no way to cap sig sizes on the old board. Demanding rarely gets you very far around here. I doubt everyone would listen if we demanded people change their avatar sizes. As for moderators resizing avatars themselves, there are three of us and 2500+ members. Do you know how long it would take to make sure everyone was in compliance and resize the avatars of those that weren't? Anyway, the avatar problem was not our main impetus to changing software. The older board was less secure (it was hacked about 5 or 6 times over the years) and was much easier to spam. With this new board, we have added features that can weed out most spammers before they can even access the system. There is also a finer grain of control over users that allows us to give warnings and temporary bannings instead of permanent bannings for users we feel can redeem themselves after disruptive and inappropriate behavior. I believe that makes for a much better, family friendly environment and that's why we upgraded. We evaluated several options and this was the best one for our needs. I think in the long run, most people will see the added benefit.
  23. The forerunner of this site, The Hazzard County Sheriff's Department, started back when I first logged on to the net in 1993 or so. I had never heard of the DOHFC when I started that site, so it certainly had no influence on me and my DOH sites. In fact, my sites and the core group of DOH/Net veterans that visited and communicated regularly there probably had more impact on the club, since, once the club became common knowledge, we eventually drove membership to the club via postings on how to join via snail mail long before the club had a presence on the internet. When I started my first DOH site, there were only 2 or so small Dukes sites on the web. A quick search of Google just now doesn't show any of those sites left. As for the Dukes fandom being practically unheard of, I have no idea what rock you were hidin' under in the late 80's/early 90's. I was still a huge fan, writing fan fic and enjoying the show in syndication, as were several of my fellow HazzardNet members. When the Net became widely accessible in the early 90's, that provided a way for geographically disperse fans to get together. Let's face it, the DOHFC couldn't reach as wide an audience as they did without the help of the original DOH web sites plugging them. So before you go trumpeting the praises of one club, perhaps you should recognize the contributions of others, most of whom are right here on HazzardNet and have been with me in cyberHazzard for damn near a decade and a half.
