Signs of Hazzard
Hobie Hartkins and 3 others reacted to Bryce for a topic
Wow. You guys are awesome. I feel like a chooch. I made a post 5 years ago and y’all responded and I ghosted you. So, my wife planned a surprise trip to Covington, GA with the fam. Got To visit the jump sites from the first 5 episodes, meet some other cool Dukes fans AND John Schneider happened to be in town after a convention in Atlanta. Talk about an amazing day! Then, hit Cooters Garage in Pigeon Forge, TN a couple days later. Anyway, I’m totally geeking out on all things Dukes again and looking forward to checking out the forums here! I still love your artwork recreations, Hoss!4 points -
I've just spent the evening at a bar (very unusual for me) listening to a couple of local guys playing live music on acoustic guitars. It was a good mix of traditional Irish songs and old favorites. What surprised me was the number of Americans at the bar. The first people I spoke to were from just across the Indiana border from Chicago, but there were three groups from California (Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles), one from Seattle and another from Florida. I know where I live is a popular tourist destination, but I rarely get to speak to the visitors.3 points

Is This It For Chevy and NASCAR?

I saw the phrase "Tír na nÓg" (it means "Land of Youth") painted on several buildings, and the bar was advertising "Ceol Anocht" ("Music Tonight"), but I don't think it was the Celtic Women. It was probably traditional Irish music, but we had food waiting at the house, so we didn't stay to find out. Just to keep you happy, Roger:3 points

Charlie Daniels
Hobie Hartkins and 2 others reacted to HossC for a topic
I was just watching a season 3 episode of The Fall Guy called 'Pirates of Nashville'. The main storyline was about bootlegged Country records, so Colt and gang had to fly to Nashville and visit The Grand Ole Opry. The first singer they met was Dottie West - one of Boss' Celebrity Speed Trap victims. A couple of others like Mickey Gilley were mentioned, but not seen. Then Charlie Daniels and his band showed up to perform 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia'. The episode also featured Miriam Byrd-Nethery who appeared in two episodes of Dukes. The episode finished with Colt losing a bet and having to sing the show's theme song which was portrayed as having been written by Howie. I'm no expert on Tennessee geography, but the street signs in the urban car chase looked suspiciously like the ones in LA, and the out-of-town chase went down roads lined with white fencing that were very like the ones often seen in Dukes (e.g. W Potrero Road in Westlake Village).3 points -
Went to the local GM plant's car show today. Over 300 cars, possibly 400 showed up. One that stuck out for me was a restored Hudson pickup truck. Never seen one before. Since it was invitation only it was pretty much hot rods and muscle cars. They might go back to open registration again next year. Few years ago they had some trouble with a few people and police showed up so that's when they made it invitation only, you have to work there or worked there or know someone that works there that will write you in.2 points

I just thought of something last week.....ever notice the theme song? Do you ever start the DVD and then go do something while it's playing ( I take my medicine before bed) and I NEVER get tired of hearing it, even when it plays over and over. It's like the episodes themselves.....there's no point of exhaustion! You can listen and watch over and over and over! What other show, band, etc. can you name like that???!!!2 points -

It's past midnight at my house right now and since Enos lives in the same time zone in Valdosta Georgia that means he is officially 90. Happy birthday buddy. You are a true Southern gentleman and were a natural to play Enos Strate. This is cool.....our puppy Lulu turns one year old today. When we got her at the beginning of the year I was thrilled to learn she shared a birthday with Sonny Shroyer!2 points -

well, cousins, right now I'm watching you know what and having a few AB's. I just watched Bad Day In Hazzard and I'm about to watch Miss Tri-Counties! I hope every one is doing well! 9/2 is coming fast and I'm counting down! Doctor gave me specific instructions, no beer or cold drinks 3 days before surgery! So Friday ( DOHD) is my last party day until after surgery and probably until somewhere around November!2 points -
General Questions about The Dukes of Hazzard Series
Hobie Hartkins and one other reacted to HossC for a topic
They don't even use the same car throughout 'Twin Trouble' - at least two different cars are used if you compare the front corner lights. It's probably safe to say that the car that was rolled wasn't used again. I think all of the cars in question are 1967 Chevy 4-door sedans. I'm surprised that you didn't spot another blue 1967 Chevy 4-door sedan being driven by Mary Lou Tompkins in 'A Baby for the Dukes' earlier in season 6. That one survived, so it could've been used in later episodes. They were most likely Impalas, but some could've been Bel Airs and Biscaynes. A couple appear to have the Sport Sedan body. Like with your previous questions about cars being the same across episodes, I think all we can say is they were similar. If they didn't get wrecked, they may have been reused.2 points -
After Boss' brakes go out, Vance apparently stops his car by simply pressing the clutch. Vance previous told Boss "...what you gotta do is try to slowly downshift into first gear. And then let the gears slow you down.". All we see is him depressing the clutch but never raising it again as you would to shift gears with a stick transmission. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 1970 Cadillac DeVille only came with an automatic transmission, so it wouldn't have a clutch pedal anyway.2 points

Every time I rematch Dukes (for the thousandth time) I notice new things I’ve never noticed before like in Ding Dong the Boss is Dead, Boss’s Cadillac is at Cooters with the note on it. When the scaffolding almost falls on him you can see the Cadillac in front of the steps. Then when Boss goes to get in his car he walks over to Cooters and gets the car and reads the note. I’m sure someone else has noticed this but I like noticing new things when you aren’t focusing on it you don’t really notice.2 points

General Questions about The Dukes of Hazzard Series
Hobie Hartkins and one other reacted to HossC for a topic
I only watched the scene around the impound yard, but most of those stores are on French Street. You can see towards Boss' bank when the boys escape jail, but the bank is blocked by a truck. You can also see a redressed Rhuebottoms and paint store in the background when Sheriff Little crashes through the fence. The building with the fence is redressed as different businesses in several episodes.2 points -

General Questions about The Dukes of Hazzard Series
Skipper Duke reacted to RogerDuke for a topic
I saw it the night it originally aired so my memory might deceive me. It's been awhile. But your question rang a bell and I think I was suspicious of him. The writers did a good job of throwing those curveballs when guessing if someone was good or bad. Most of the time it was predictable but there were enough surprises from past episodes you always wondered on the new ep you were watching.1 point -
General Questions about The Dukes of Hazzard Series
RogerDuke reacted to Skipper Duke for a topic
The first time you ever saw the Season 6 episode Brotherly Love, did you expect Luke's brother Jud Kane to be a fake with a hidden menacing agenda like the English cousin Gaylord Duke in the Season 2 episode Duke of Duke was?1 point -
Thanks for letting me know I didn’t know about this. I respect everyone’s opinion as well. If I see actors/singers post political statements I usually try and not let it bother me because it ruins it if you look too much into it when you’re favorite singer or actor is not who you thought they were.1 point

Happy 84th birthday Crazy Cooter. The show couldn't have existed without you. After all, nobody else could tow the General Lee into his garage at 1:00 and rebuild the engine, straighten the frame, replace the hood and both front fenders and have it rolling before 5:00....and then take donuts and beer as payment.1 point

General Questions about The Dukes of Hazzard Series
Skipper Duke reacted to HossC for a topic
I've pretty much answered this question in the Bloopers thread. The narrow push bar was an off-the-shelf part for pickup trucks and was only welded to the bumper. The wider push bar was custom-made and welded to the chassis making it much stronger. If you click the link you'll see where one of the narrow push bars fell off at the start of 'My Son, Bo Hogg'.1 point -

Does your hometown remind you of Hazzard County?
Hobie Hartkins reacted to Tom Duke for a topic
My hometown is a lot like Hazzard to me, it’s very cozy and close knit, kind of everyone knows everyone sort of vibe. We have a lot of community events, Canada Day, Labour Day (with a parade that runs through the Main Street) and to top off the Hazzard connection, we actually have our very own Boars Nest! The owner is actually referred to as “Boss Hogg” by a lot of people round here too.1 point -
